Anthony Head: 'I would jump at the chance to do a Buffy reunion'

It's the news that every Buffy The Vampire Slayer fan has been dying to hear "“ Anthony Head, who played Giles in the cult TV show, tells MSN that he would be happy reunite with the cast.

When we caught up with Anthony Head at the premiere of his new movie The Iron Lady, we couldn't resist the chance to ask him about one of the biggest cult television shows of all time; Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

We, like millions of Buffy fans across the globe, wanted to know if the actor, who famously portrayed Buffy's 'watcher' Giles on the show, would ever consider doing a reunion with the cast in the form of a one-off television episode or a movie.

His answer got us very excited indeed.

Anthony Head revealed that he would love to do a Buffy reunion
Anthony said: "If Joss Whedon [the creator of Buffy The Vampire Slayer] was involved, I would jump at the chance. I would do anything. I would even just do one line, just because I think that the man is a genius and I love him."

It's clear that Anthony still holds a torch for the massively popular show and the fact that he seems so eager to do a reunion is a very positive sign for Buffy fans.

The actor also revealed that he still sees the Buffy crew on a regular basis and that they're all "constantly in contact."

He mentioned that he had "missed Sarah [Michelle Gellar] this time" as they were both working on television shows, but he had recently spent time with the rest of the cast.

How cool is that? We can just imagine all the Buffy cast chilling together and reminiscing about the good old days.

So, seeing as the cast are still buddies, surely a reunion must be on the cards? Well, it looks like it's all in the hands of the up to the show's creator, Joss Whedon...

Random interview observation
Anthony was incredibly friendly and somewhat of a stud muffin on the red carpet - we spied several ladies stopping to have their pictures taken with him!

I'm doubtful it will happen, but it's sweet nonetheless. 🙂

Please please please happen...
Just read it ^_^ Would be great to see. Out of all of them I think Sarah and David would be the hardest to get back. David seems to have moved on from it and Sarah is busy with her new show right now.

Question though: Wouldn't a one off episode or even a movie mess up the comics canon? Even if they went with the comics story there wouldn't be enough time to fit it in. If they went with a new story then which would count as canon?

Yeah, SMG and DB seem the least interested, or the most busy anyway.
Aw I love ASH 🙂 He's such a gent.
I say I don't think I'd like a reunion...but if I heard it was definitely happening I would be so excited!
Aloverssoulz, perhaps they could set it directly after Chosen?
I don't think I'd even care if it wasn't canon.

WWGD? A REUNION!!!!!!!

This would be really cool! 😀 (doubtful that it will ever happen though)

castnoshadow Or maybe have it take place after season 9 and then the new comics will take place after the one off episode?

TV show, season 8, 9, one off episode, 10 ^.^

That could be cool - but I think it'd alienate a lot of the original fanbase.

I think that it would be better to set it during the time between the end of Season 7 and the beginning of Season 8. There is about a year and a half there that we know next to nothing about, that has the potential of holding some really great stories, plus it wouldn't have to interfere with the comic book story line.

That would be good, but everyone has grown up so much sense than it'd make so little sense o.o. Plus I want to see Dawn and Xander together on screen 😀

Seems that no matter what they'd do it'd mess something up or scare some fans away.

That's awesome!
I'd love a Buffy movie with the original cast!

Such an idea could easily backfire, though. But I'd take chances.

Personally, I'd set the plot several years after Season 7, without regard to the comics.

As much as I hate to say this, I think this is the fleeting idea of a random MSN interviewer, that has taken on way too much meaning on the Internet. I don't think any of the Powers That Be, including Joss himself, are seriously, if at all, considering any type of reunion.

And if they're going to do it they better hurry - Anthony (even though he's still gorgeous) isn't getting any younger. 🙂

Plus, JM and DB look way too old to play Spike and Angel.
I wouldn't want to see a Buffy reunion because the show ended with such a complete note. Buffy achieved her life goal and to bring the characters back for one more adventure would just seem forced. I like the idea of a reunion that is just the actors coming back together

I would much prefer an Angel reunion/movie because they still had much more to do

I doubt this will ever happen, as much as I would love it if it did... The actors are all getting older, and some people, like David and James, are too old to play vampires who supposedly don't age. 😛
That being said, I would still LOVE to see a TV special or something where all of them got back to talk about the show andthe fans. 🙂

Joss said that if he gets a great idea for a continuation, he'd do it and to hell with the comics. Doubt it's gonna happen now, though, with the entire cast ageing (especially the vamps).

This ageing argument is the same one brought about any time a reunion is discussed. My view has never changed on the matter. If there's even a small chance that all the cast could come back and do something, would anyone really care that much if Angel and Spike looked a bit old. The show has had a few inconsistencies over its run which people ignored. Why can't the ageing thing be another one on that list?

The issue is only with the vampires who through modern technology could be made to look younger anyway. I'm not saying it won't look like they have aged, of course it will. However if you offer me another instalment of Buffy or Angel and the only drawback is Angel or Spike looks a bit old, well I'd say make it happen.

All this talk is a bit pointless though considering I can't see it happening as many of the cast wouldn't return in my eyes. I think the "I've been there and done that" would come into their minds which is frustrating for the fans.

A reunion episode would be extraordinary! Buffy and Angel shows ends in sort of two different directions, and Smg was doing the Grudge in Japan at the end of Angel so the final scene with Buffy and Angel didnt happen. A final meeting between them and to see what happened to Buffy with the dramatic Angel show ending would be epic! Please please Josh and the cast! 🙂
