This may not be a popular opinion, but I'd like to come out against spoiler tags. They're like putting a dish of candy in front of a dieter.

The spoiler section is no problem for me. I can stay out of there most times, but I just can't resist highlighting the spoiler tags, then I regret it afterwards.

I'm curious if anyone else feels as I do.

I do the same thing. I'm all for not knowing what happens in future episodes, but sometimes you just can't help yourself. I'm not against spoiler tags; I'm the idiot for looking. Spoiler tags are okay, in a way, because I'd definitely read whatever was written if there weren't spoiler tags around it. Spoiler tags sort of give you a choice - even though most people feel the obligation to read it just 'cause it's there waiting to be read. I really hate it when somebody doesn't use spoiler tags for something that is a spoiler (even the tiniest bit), and it isn't in the spoiler section or the thread is completely not on that topic. So, yes 'I can tolerate them'.

This is a tough call, because like 5x5 and nerd4hire, I tend to read spoilers even when I know I don't want to know, especially since some spoilers I don't care about knowing, amd already know and others I do. But I think the tags are supposed to be a comprimise because it's pretty hard to have some discussions without sometimes revealing spoilers.

So, I think the effect of getting rid of tags is you're going to get more spoilers, not less. I've pretty much accepted the fact that if I'm going to discuss Buffy online, I'm going to get spoiled....I try to avoid them, but I really have no idea how many spoilers I don't know...I feel like I've read them all.

Maybe the thing to do is to have a Non-spoiler forum, where people can discuss theories or eps and the rule is NO SPOILERS...No tags, no revealing what you've heard...nothing. But maybe that would make discussions too fragmented. But I know with the 'Giles' thread I started, I wanted theories, not spoilers...granted, a spoiler was embedded between spoiler tags, but like an indiot I looked.....sorry I did.

I think they are great. We have a spoiler section where we can freely discuss the upcoming episodes, and in some other sections we just hide our precognition, bu using the spoilertags, so we can discuss it with our spoiled knowledge and you can discuss there, without being spoiled. And like 5x5 said ... "You're the idiots for looking" ... sorry, but if you don't want to know don't look, if you do, well then it's kinda your fault. A special"no spoiler"-section would really really s*ck, because you get an even bigger cliff between the spoiled and non-spoiled members.

You're an idiot for reading this!

I personally like the spolier tags but I have admit they are kinda hard to resist although it makes no diffrence to me because I read spoliers anyway I love them as I can't stand not knowing whats going to happen it drives me crazy!

lmao Allycat

I have no problem with them, especially this time of the season. I can't stand waiting weeks not knowing anything about what's gonna happen. Call me impatient 🙂
