I havent seen many posts like these around, but I feel comfortable talking to you guys on here so I'm gunna reach out and ask for some help and advice from all of you 🙂
I've recently started suffering from anxiety (I'm positive that its built up over the years) I get shaky, headaches, I think to much about negative situations that I could be put in and I stress about them. Its starting to affect my partner, because I get moody easily, hes being very supportive though.
Does anyone here suffer from the same thing? Or have any advice that I could use to try and resolve this problem that I've developed, anything will be muchly appreciated 🙂

P.S: If this is an inappropriate or too personal topic to be posting, please tell me 🙂

Re:

I suffer from similar symptoms sometimes. Occasionally I have panic attacks where my body will flush, my hands will shake, and my chest will hurt sometimes for hours on end. Everybodys body reacts differently toward stress. I'd say it wouldn't be a bad idea to give your doc a call. They have meds that help with this.

I suffer from bad anxiety attacks as well. They can be truly scary. I tend to lose breath, and have collapsed from it in the past. I went to see my doctor. He sent me to a specialist, who thought me some breathing techniques, and meditation, which helps me calm down. I've learned to deal with it quite well, and can usually stop the attacks before they start now. This works for me, but as Vamp Tramp stated, there are meds for this. I would say, go see your doctor . 🙂

My mother has been agoraphobic since before I was born. She's getting much better, she can even leave the house with me now. I have had anixety and social phobia since I was little. I'm currently taking Paxil and it is a LIFE SAVER!

I've had pretty bad anxiety for roughly two years now. Lately it's gotten a lot better...my anxiety was related to a lot of other issues which have gotten better, and when they did, so did the anxiety. However, it's never a fun thing to deal with, and it takes a lot of trial and error to find out what makes you anxious and what makes you feel better.

Long hot showers or baths, playing relaxing online games, tea (chamomile or decaf are best...caffeine can make anxiety a lot worse) or hot chocolate (what I personally lived off of, heh), basically just trying to relax on the couch, meditation (focus on your breathing, emptying your mind, etc)...all of that can help.

You also may want to see a doctor, if it's really interfering with your life/relationships.

Good luck! 🙂

I'm a very anxious person. Sometimes I lay in bed at night, and I think I can hear a meteorite coming to earth, and I start freaking out. I've blacked-out many times, it's scary. All my family and friends comment on how my hands are ALWAYS shaking, can't help it, I'm a big, old mess. But, I've learned to cope.
The advice that has been given already in this thread is helpful, don't know how else I can help. I hope you start feeling better soon.

I just to be like that just try and be happy friends help a lot in acheieving this.

Anxiety attacks have nothing to do with "being happy" (or indeed, being depressed), and "being happy" isn't as easy as just that.
Average/moderate anxiety here. I don't like going outside, being around too many people or being idle for too long, if I do I start getting very edgy and panicky.

I've had relatively minor panic attacks when out with friends, even at home indoors I fidget a lot and tremble slightly for short periods of time, suffer from insomnia, paranoia, I'm frustratingly shy etc

Everyones very patient with me when I stutter or seem uneasy, most of my friends have been great at keeping me comfortable and giving me a sense of security.

A friend suggested a meetup earlier, won't even work out the details until tomorrow, and I've already been feeling a little nervous all day.

It sucks. 🙁

I've suffered from anxiety for years, the only thing i can suggest to help is find something to distract you from the anxiety

This is something a friend wrote on another board I'm on, and gave me permission to re-post.

I hope some of the information in it is helpful.

It sounds like you may be suffering from anxiety attacks that turn into panic attacks.

An anxiety attack is when something bad happens to you or you’re thinking about something bad and you get really anxious. You can get so anxious that you might even have some physical symptoms. For example, you might get shaky, your heart might race, or you might get short of breath. An anxiety attack can last anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. The main feature of an anxiety attack is that you are worrying about something in your LIFE (for example, relationships, work, school, money).

A panic attack on the other hand comes on all of a sudden, out of the blue for no reason at all, and it’s all about your BODY or your MIND. You suddenly feel like you must be having a heart attack (or a stroke, or passing out, or choking, or vomiting, or going crazy, or losing all control) because your heart is racing, you’re short of breath, you may have nausea or tightness in your throat, and you’re shaking. A panic attack comes on within ten minutes, but can last anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. The main feature of a panic attack is that you are worrying about your BODY or your MIND right then and there, rather than worrying about something in your life. Most people with panic attacks have gone to an emergency room at least once to make sure nothing physical was going on.

Some people actually have anxiety attacks that turn into panic attacks. For example, they will start to worry about something stressful in their lives, but then once they get worked up enough, they will start to worry about what’s going on in their bodies or their minds instead. Things to do:
1. Remind yourself repeatedly until you can really believe that your panic attack is a natural - emergency response and you will not turn in to a shaky, flaky weakling who is about to pass out any minute. Your whole system is in high gear. You are actually stronger, faster, and quicker. Believe it.
2. Constantly repeat to yourself that panic symptoms no doubt are unpleasant, but they are not dangerous.
3. Know that just as you have a natural emergency response, so you have a natural "calming response." Yes, you can learn to calm yourself out of a panic attack.
4. Unpleasant symptoms of an anxiety/panic attack can be brought into control in just five minutes if you start calming down and do not pump more adrenaline in your blood by "panicking" about the panic attack.
5. Do not "fight" with the symptoms of a panic attack. Try to "flow" with the symptoms and allow yourself to become calm.
6. Learn a relaxation technique and practice it daily at least two or three times for 15 to 20 minutes each time. There are many self taught methods of relaxation available on tapes and books.
7. Learn to breathe from your diaphragm. Learn how the body breathes and how your abdomen, ribs and chest are involved in breathing. Try to breathe from your diaphragm all the time or as much time as you can by paying steady attention to your breathing.
8. Learn to notice the advance signs of an anxiety attack before it becomes severe. Step up on your relaxation to bring about the calming response.
9. In a panic or anxiety attack, start breathing slowly, through your nose, and allowing your diaphragm to take part in breathing.
10. Say silently inside your head something reassuring and calming, such as, "I am becoming calm....It will take a few minutes. .. .I can handle it as I have handled it before. . .I am calm and steady. "

Aww thanks guys for the great advice 🙂 I think the core of my anxiety comes from my relationship with my partner, I'm not used to change and I dont like change, I get really uncertain about us (even tho he's moving away with me soon, talks about having kids with me and marrying me a lot lol ) I get really anxious about stupid situations. EG: When I dont get as many hugs as I would usually, or he wants to spend the friday night with one of his mates instead. And from them really silly triggers I work myself into a state.

He's the last thing I should be anxious about tho, we've been sweethearts since I was 15 😛

pass the vomit bucket - that's so cute it's sickening!
I suffer from Anxiety too, have done for years. I found CBT very helpful for my anxiety and panic attacks, as well as a heap of meds, but try out some of the techniques suggested here and go see a doc. Meditation is helpful to if you can do it, most of the time I cant slow my breathing down enough.

when i get reaaally stressed , my foot goes into a cramp, its really weird, its painful, and istart to sshake ;/

My sister suffers from General Anxiety Disorder. We can remember back when she was five how she sometimes couldn't go to school if her shoelaces weren't tied the right way. It wasn't until I guess three years ago that its been very bad. She is medicated right now, and since shes been diagnosed is doing so much better! If you really believe that something is not right you should definitly go to your doctor and maybe try and see if something is not right, sometimes it feels better just knowing that your not being dramatic (as my sister puts it) but that what is happening is real. Good luck, feel better!

I can't help you on the basis that I have anxiety, but not the same type as you do. I am under a lot of stress to, so it doesn't help, and I'm pretty sure I have obsessive compulsive disorder. It was never to the point where I had to see a doctor but when I was young, it use to make me really anxious, now I'm more or less use to it and found ways to deal with it.

-My suggestions would be deal with the anxiety the right way, dont do anything stupid, and try to think clear when you have an attack, even if its hard, it did help me but took me a couple of years to accomplish that 😉 If you need help with how doing this, you can always call you doctor. oh,and try to relaz, I know its easier said then done but again after a while it will work

-also, try to find something that releive stress on you, like music or sports. I realized that my anxiety and stressed problems got a lot better when I started riding more my horse cause I would think less about my problems.

Again, everyone is different so those suggestion my not work for you but they helped for me 😀

And also, I think its great that you talk about this in here cause it means that your comfortable enough with atmitting it, and that can take a lot of courage 😀 so koodos to you, and I hope everything goes well for you
