When she's now expecting twins???????????????????

Some people may have noticed that I've been MIA for a while. I was having some serious complications (scared out of my mind) with my pregnancy. My doctor put me on bed rest, and I have been focusing on my health and unborn child.

And then I was given the wonderful news that I was also expecting twins. My husband and I are having twin girls. It seems that some of my complications are one their way out (but I'm not totally clear yet... it's going to be a long and nervous pregnancy). I feel blessed to know that I am being given the chance to have two children (Somebody must have realized that my body is really rejecting pregnancy and blessed me with twins!)

My husband and I are now seeking advice from people who have had or worked with/ known people with infant twins. We know that we are totally up for a huge challenge in December.

So, anyone have any advice?

first off, congrats! i'm really happy for you and i hope it all goes well.

i've never had to work with twins before but last year my mom had a baby. all i can say is patience. one is a lot of work (i don't know how i could deal with twins, seeing as how i am not the most patient person in the world....), but have patience, and give them lots of love. there's a difference in their attitude when you are loving and when you are angry (even if you aren't angry with them).

babies will always make you smile! if you've had a bad day, play with them!

I do have a lot of patience! Thanks for the tip! :)
Congratulations!!!!! I dont have twins, but my first 2 sons were only 10 1/2 months apart so it felt like having twins. Just make sure that right now you get the rest that you need and dont worry too much about the double duty. Natural instinct will kick in after your bundles of joy are here, and I have no doubt that you will be able to handle it. One thing I have heard is that you may just want to get one baby bed for now, while they are small you can place them both in there and they will be fine (they will more than likely do better, since they are already sharing your womb). I dont know what other advice I can give, enjoy the blessings that have been given to you. If you want to talk about anything just pm me, or if you like we can talk on IM. Congrats again!!!! You truly have been blessed!!!!!

Thanks for the advice. I'll pm you if I need any questions answered!
Thanks guys.

I know that patience is a definite, and I'm sure we're going to be pretty strained on that. Two newborns will be kind of stressful.... but definitely a blessing.

Slayersdestiny, thanks for the tip about one crib. I never did think about that, and it does make sense. It might provide the girls with some extra security, because that's what they would've had for a long time. Plus, they will be together... and easier to reach.

Thanks again guys!

Re:

Hey hun! Congradulations sweetie....that's awesome news! And although I didn't have twins, I can say that right now rest is THE most important thing. So maybe bedrest is a blessing in desguise. You'll definately have your hands full, but remember- TWICE THE FUN! 😉 Sleep when they sleep, take advantage of their down times, and most of all be thankful you have a loving husband to help you...take turns, work together. You'll do just fine.... Congradulations again hunny...

Yikes! You are going to be busy!

Along with what everyone else has said... please give them their own identities. I've working in many schools and daycares where twins (esp girls) are named closely, wear identical clothes every day (but sometimes that's just to cute....). Just try to treat them as two different people.

Do you know what you are going to name them? That's probably really fun.

I agree that it's great that your husband is going to be involved. That will help. You'll have to be with one twin and he'll have the other. Like, his and hers babies!

We are going to definitely give them their own identities.
Oooog. You're gonna be busy, girl! My advice? Look up a "multiple birth" support group in your area. They'll have lots of practical advice for you, all of it tested! And you may be able to access things like people who have 2 car seats for your kidlets...two new ones would be prohibitively expensive for most of us, so if you can get two perfectly serviceable and clean used ones, so much the better! Same with strollers, clothing, etc. It's not charity, it's more like a hand-me-down group for people who need it at a certain time. My son is best friends with a set of identical twins, and their mom told me it was vitally important to have both of them on the same schedule when they were babies...and to sleep when they did! Cleaning, etc can be done later...you'll need rest!

Best of luck! Keep us up on what's happening!

Yes, we are going to definitely beg, borrow and steal (not really, steal, but you know what I mean!)
Wow, thanks guys! This is all great information. The two that I definitely agree with is getting them on a schedule and taking advantage of it.... and borrowing things from people... having to need double of everything will be majorly expensive!

We know that we are having girls, so we're still tossing around names. We've narrowed it... down to a few. But, over the past week, I've added some that I just recently decided I liked.

Our list includes: Emily, Madison, Grace, Bailey, Julia, Ariana, and Cara. We've got a long way to go until we narrow it down to just two. (And as my husband says, we're lucky we're not having septuplets or whatever.... )

I agree slayersdestiny... I have a vote for Emily, Madison and Julia. My husband on the other hand likes Grace. He is being quite firm on the name Grace. So we'll see. We've got plenty of time before we need to actually make a definite decision.
