Congratulations! it's big achievement.
Well, I don't know whether I'd say I'm author. I've never written any stories- except for one short one for a children's collection years ago- but I've had some articles for magazines published now and then.
I'm kinda freelance and writing just fills that time between the acting jobs...it just seems to happen. Hehe. So yes, I am a writer just not an overly official one. Haha.

Congratulations on your book by the way- you got karma for it 😉

I ghost wrote a children's story for my wife's Children's Lit course several years ago (don't tell anybody, though, because she was supposed to write it, she just didn't have time, so I filled in for her) that got her an "A," but that's about the extent of my literary efforts.

(Is it allowed to ask the title so we can look for it?)

I wrote a story when I was in 6th grade. It never got published or anything, it was just for fun. And rereading it is kind of fun, lol, my writing style back then was just sooo cute. I would show you but the story is in German and if I translated it, it just wouldn't be the same.
When I was in 9th grade I wanted to be a writer but my parents told me I sucked at anything language related and I should forget about it, so, wel, I did.
I have some great story ideas (at least in my head they sound amazing) but I don't think I'll ever come around to writing a long story or anything.

Exactly the same with me. I have all these ideas in my head but I can never get them down on paper!
I'm pretty much the same as SS, I wrote a "book" when I was in Year 5 (age 9/10) though it wasn't really a book, just a notebook full with a rather depressing story about two sisters who's mother dies and their father becomes a drunk and abandons them haha. I like to re-read that story too, it even has pictures which are really cute to look at! 😛

I wanted to be a journalist back then but as I got older I realised that that was never gonna happen! I'm very imaginative and I'm okay at telling stories, but when it comes to getting them down on paper I get nowhere.

Congratulations on your book though Illyrian! 🙂

Congratulations on having your book published, that's really awesome! When I was younger I really wanted to be an author because I used to get all these mad ideas in my head that'd make good stories, but I found it difficult to put it down on paper so gone was that dream hehe. I write fan fiction from time to time, but nothing serious - I haven't written anything for a while actually, I just use my creativity RP'ing instead these days =)

I love writing stories and all that, and someday I hope to have lots of books published! Congrats ILLYRIAN!

The fanfic's can be a good place to develop your ideas.
To be an author you have to have been published in my opinion. Otherwise you're a writer, and I fall into the latter category. I have an extensive Naruto/Buffy/Devil May Cry crossover fic I'm working on at the moment, as well as a completely original T.V. script. I'd love to post both on here at some point, mainly for feedback 🙂 a writer's best friend.

my son loves Naruto! hope we get to see your story someday
I write poetry, and I just sent a short story to a literary magazine called 'The Savage Kick'.

I won't call myself a poet, because I think that's something rather prestigious that can only be bestowed unto you rather than by you, and I won't call myself an author because I haven't been published yet, but fingers crossed.

Good luck! It's a great feeling, even if it's a non-paying market.
Sorry for double post, but it won't let me edit.

How could I forget the TV pilot script that I actually sent off to the BBC? I'm a moron.

I sent a TV script to the BBC which they turned down, I found out that a programme was being filmed on pretty much the same thing at that time, and I thought that no one else will think of this. Famous last words, huh. I'm getting used to being turned down by the BBC.

Well,I'm getting involved in writing....trying(like crazy)to get a virtual series off the ground.

I've had the idea for it floating around in my brain for God knows how many years, but my hospitalization last year gave me the impetus to get it going in earnest. A pilot script is now written(which I never did before),and I'm working on more scripts(as well as ideas on where I want the series to go).

(Send me a PM if you want to know more about it,because I don't want to clog up this thread with info that's off topic.)

Well I started this thread as I wanted to ( for want of a better description ) blow my own trumpet.
I could say where it's posted, but I'd like to know more about your script, ckg927.
If people ask how a character develops [ and that is what you'll be asked if your script is deemed suitable and would be accepted ], it'll help you.
Should my writings encourage others to try, that is a plus.
The big picture here, is for people to blow there own trumpet, and if that helps other people then good!

Congratulations again, ILLLYRIAN.

I am a freelance feature writer, and I have about 300 published feature articles, with photos, but only for our national newspaper here. I started writing seriously when I was 32 years old, and I never expected it to be published because I did it for fun. It was an essay about boredom. Later, I did a lot of articles mostly about places I visit here in our region, and Southeast Asia. I wrote about the people, their culture and traditions, the environment, and the closest to my heart, the children and the wildlife. I believe that children and animals don't really have a voice in this world.

Oh well, I have not submitted anything for about 2 years now. I'm currently busy with a new career as my son's chauffeur therefore I go where he goes. Maybe one of these days I'll be able to clean up some stuff I've written to be submitted again. One of the articles I've been working on, and that's been gathering dust in my computer is about the sea gypsies in a small island near here.

Oh, ONLY the national newspaper !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've tried writing non-fiction, about Berry Pomeroy Castle. It's said to be one of the most haunted places in Britain. I thought it was a lovely place, [24 years ago]. The evil could only be felt in a few places. I tried to visit a mass grave once, for victims of London's great plague. Now that place was bad. Didn't stay long enough to get any memories to write about

One of the problems with the animal experts near here, experts they aren't. Three years ago in Sawyers Valley [30K's from Perth CBD] I saw an animal that doesn't exist, the experts said they'd accept it as real if I caught it ! A wild animal, the size of a dog, imagine what I said to them !

We have a haunted house right here in my district. There are many stories floating around from previous tenants but no one dares to write or take photos. We're all too scared!!!

Oh the animal experts! One of those criticised me when I was introduced as a wildlife writer at a small function years ago. He said I'm not a wildlife expert, I just write my experiences and feelings about the animals, hence, I should not be introduced as such. I told him , "such as what? I was introduced as a writer, not an expert." Do some of these experts even really care about the creatures they study?

I haven't published anything, but I just love writing!
When I was at Primary School me and my cousin had our own "publishing house". We were writing stories in notebooks and painting our logo on each one. It was such a fun!
When i was older I still wrote short stories, they were read by my family and friends.
When I went to High School I stopped writing because I had less time for it, but lately started some story again. I think I'll finish it at summer 'cause now school is getting kinda crazy.
I'd love to publish something in the future.

i'm sure you will, and your own publishing house at P1, that's creative and enterprising lol
I also like to write; poems, lyrics, stories, novels, mainly in French or in English, but never wanted to publish them. It is mainly for fun or just to kill time when travelling.
