Hey I was just wondering if anyone watches Legend of the Seeker? There are so few fantasy series out there and I got engulfed by this one. The writing isn't always that good but I really like the characters especially Cara and Kahlan. Also are there any other fantasy shows you like? (I'm so tired of cop dramas and reality shows)

I liked Legend of the Seeker, before it went and got cancelled. I think it improved a lot in season 2, after Cara was added.

I was a fan of the books before this show started, and it was kind of a struggle at first to accept that the show didn't follow the books very closely at all. But I got used to it.

I liked it, it wasn't an amazing show but okay...
Agree that the addition of Cara was great. Loved her. 🙂

A problem with the show, like many other fantasy shows, is that it can look rather cheap at times.
Would love to see a great, big budget, fantasy show.

I'm a Xena fan from way back, so the cheesiness of the production quality didn't bother me.

(Like with Xena, I was just distracted by the hot women. 🙂

Xena had better fight scenes, though. With LotS they relied too much on slo-mo and editing tricks to make the fights look impressive. On Xena, they were just constant full-speed action.

I liked picking out all the old Xena actors that turned up on LotS. It was like "Where's Waldo."

I'd sure like to see somebody do a version of the story that follows the books more closely, though. Even though the later volumes get pretty slow and preachy and full of people talking for 10 pages at a time. You could probably have each of the first 6 books be a season, and then compress the rest of the series into one final 7th season.

Thanks for the response. I was just wondering because even though the show has its flaws, I really liked the characters and they got me interested in reading the books. Now that the show is cancelled I guess I'll have to.

Craig Horner who plays Richard is a huge Buffy fan. He mentions Buffy in every other interview he's in.

The show could have sucked big time and I might still have follwed it just to see Bridget Regan as Kahlan. Luckily it didn't suck even if it wasn't the best show ever made (not many are though 😉). I'm sad it got cancelled. Adding Cara was definitely a good thing. I've never read the books so I didn't have any problems with possible changes.

You might want to check out the show Merlin. It took me a while to get into it but it drew me in and I know people that love it.

Thanks. Merlin and LOTS seem to be the only new fantasy shows. I just couldn't get into Caprica even with James.

I liked the first season of Merlin, but I lost interest and drifted away partway through the second.

I didn't mind the new take on the Arthurian story, and I didn't mind the wacky historical anachronisms (I'm a Xena fan, after all). What bothered me was the fact that the overall story didn't seem to be going anywhere. None of the characters really seemed to be growing or changing much, and the status quo of early season 1 was still in place. Just lost my interest.

I did like Legend of the Seeker, especially in the second season, and I really do miss getting to look at Bridget Regan and Tabrett Bethell.

Agree about Merlin. I watched for a while but kinda lost interest. Interesting to see Tony Head as Uther though.
