What're your plans for the 4th of July? We have a riverside concert and fireworks display accompanied by tail gate cuisine in our church parking lot. Real down homey.

(All of you non-Americans, don't feel left out. You're welcome to talk about one of your own national holidays)

Well, they have this big thing going on at Wilson Park this year. Picnic spots, food on sale, fun-games-family things and most importantly fireworks so we're going to that. I mean it got a lot of bad reviews last year as regards to the fireworks display but I still enjoyed it...and this year they're promising more so it should be even more spectacular 😀 Haha.
My Mom (And maybe her new boyfriend who is a non-robot Ted if ever there was one. He bakes for crying out loud! Bakes!) is coming down for a visit too for the night since she'd rather go to the park with us than stay in L.A for the event she claims. Mom's never been a big event person and the only thing that makes her put up with fireworks is when she's watching them with family so...

I don't know how long we'll be staying though or even if it'll work out considering Kris. But we're gonna go and play it by ear from then on. What always amuses me is hubby's reaction. He has this continuous 'I'm English and so do not celebrate this holiday' attitude but then the moment I take him anywhere for it he gets totally involved in the moment. He bought a little mini-flag thing last year because it came with a mini bag of chocolates. Bless him.

Probably hanging out with my friend Rachel at her house, watching movies all day, getting drunk and blazed out our minds. 🙂

Well we were going to do a barbecue with some family friends, but my friend is starting his new job on the fourth, so now we're trying to work around it, which doesn't seem to be working very well. So I'll probably be mighty bored, since he's the only one my age who would've been there. Oh well.

As far as fireworks go, my town likes to jump the gun on certain things, like the fourth of July fireworks. We always have them on the third. Last year I went out with a friend and her dad on their boat to watch them, which was fun. Might be doing that again this year.
We also trick-or-treat on the thirtieth, not the thirty first. There are a few other early things as well.

Well ours was the 6th of june. But I´ve already told you about the pole of flowers, the drinking and the dancing like frogs stuff so I won´t bore you with that again.

But I hope you all americans have loads of fun! For me, I only think of Tom Cruise then I hear the words "4th of July", even if I´d like to add a few words. Does that make me a bad person? Or maybe even gay? I really shouldn´t be thinking of Tom Cruise. That´s for my sister. *goes away pondering*

Oh I'm justgoing to a psychology faculty meeting that day. But I'm not American 😛

Well and on the German day we don't really do anythingm it's not that much of a deal around here.

I get to go to work! Oh joy...ugh...

My boss gave me the day off, and I didn't even request it! But I don't question my blessings... sorry you weren't so lucky :(
I get to work too. But since my work is downtown and like 2 blocks away from the fireworks, I think all the nonessential people (which I plan on taking my dinner break 5 minutes before the fireworks start) will be going to the roof to watch them. It should be pretty. But I'll still be at work all day, so boo.

Bad news: I have to work on the 4th. (Boo,hiss!)

Good news: It's the early shift(7am-3:30pm),AND I get double pay(regular and holiday).

Even better: After work,we get to watch our OWN fireworks show. Someone I know went down to Pennsylvania to get a whole crapload of 'em(from Phantom Fireworks, who has a good reputation)....over $500 for $280(buy 1 get one free...on EVERYTHING)and some bonus stuff for buying so much....3 freebies,if memory serves. Then,we get to light 'em all....after making sure the cars are off the street by our house first,of course(don't want the waste from the used stuff littering our cars...).

You can see our local park's firework show from this BIG hill in my backyard so I bunch of our friends and family come over and we watch it and then we do some of our own fireworks!

What're your plans for the 4th of July?

Shot down in flames...

We had three gigs booked this weekend, one opening for a national act, but our lead singer/rhythm guitarist had to have emergency surgery on Friday and we had to cancel. Couldn't be helped, and he wanted us to do the shows without him, but I'm like, "Man, I haven't done a whole show by myself since 1977! No way I'm going to start now..."

Relax most of the day, go to my friend, Camlin's for a little while at 4, and then head on over to my other friend, Candace's, house. That way I get some good quality 4th of July time with all my good friends.

Car show, food, and fireworks.

As part of my town's 4th of July festivities, there's a classic car show in the historic downtown area. Then, it's my step-daughter's b-day, so I'll be baking a cake for her and making her favorite dinner. Then fireworks in our brand new city park in the evening. In between I *may* be painting my living room. That hasn't been decided yet...... 😉

Well it's raining now, so I'm not sure if the fireworks will still be on for tonight. Pretty sure I'll still hang out with friends either way, but if they are cancelled, then they might actually be on the fourth for once, and I don't know what I would do...

Actually, we'd probably wait until the fifth, knowing this town.

Happy fourth of Ju....what do you mean it's not the fourth yet? Well it is here. So there. Not that it matters over here, but unfortunately I've come to actually like some of you Americans on here, so have a great day filled with little bags of chocolate and working in shops. Actually, now I know why Anya embraced patriotism so much!

Happy 4th of July my American friends!

And apparently this whole Independence Day thing is a big deal over here in the Netherlands as well. I have no idea why, but the lobby of our uni was filled with America flags and stuff like that.
