Question Anya not as good anymore?

She was generally a funnier more lively character during seasons 4, 5 and 6 when she was human. I think in season seven, she was dealing with a lot. Getting her vengeance powers back; killing those frat boys which really got to her and the break up with Xander. She was still funny in season seven, just not really her normal self, I would say.
 
Anya in season 5 is the funniest. She started to love money in sudden.
But in season 7, she's totally human. But we love her anyway, right? 😉
 
She was definetely funnier in seasons 4,5 & 6. But as some of the guys were saying in previous posts in season 7 she found herself dealing with more and tougher things than she could handle. Let's not forget as well that we get to see why Anya (Aud) is the way she is; she doesn't seem to find a meaning for her life, to find a meaning to who she is. I think that's basically what Joss want to show us when we get to see the "Mrs Harris" song, she's the future missus because she seems to feel that just being Anya it is not enough 🙁

I quite liked Anya in season seven, wouldn't say she was worse in the other seasons...not would i say she was better, with season 7 i found it easier to connect with Anya emmotionally, especially in selfless....and i love watching Anya grow so much in S7. Until she's finally figured it out, she realises what it means to be human, and she accepts it....I thought Anya was funny in S7, like in Him and when she throws water all over Andrew, "oh Andrew, you dribbled all over yourself" =P

I definitely agree... I still thought she was funny, but she'd been through so much with the Xander break-up, getting back into vengeance only to be cast back out when her conscience got to her too much, trying to help the Scoobies while still trying to muddle through her emotions about Xander and her life in general... That kind of stuff should definitely have changed her character; it wouldn't have been natural if it didn't. 🙂 I think she was much more carefree in the previous seasons and in Season 7 she had real problems, which made her seem less "fun". Kinda like when you're forced to grow up from a kid or teenager to an adult, it has a profound effect on who you become as a person. 🙂 I still love Anya and I thought she had some great lines. 🙂

LOL I agree. I LOVE the scene where she first reappears after we find out she was trapped in her human body and she's yelling at the bartender at the Bronze to give her a beer. Hilarious!

I think Anya had her finest moments in season 6. It was important to see her decide what SHE wanted, and see her slowly be on her own for real
 
Anya was always my favorite, I never thought she got worse or anything, always great! 😀

The events of the past few seasons affected and changed everyone in the crew, including Anya. She went through a lot of tough times and they made her a little more bitter and cynical than she was in season 3.
 
I think she was funnier, more entertaining in the earlier seasons, but as the show progressed, she, like all of the characters grew. In S3 and 4, she was very 'newly' human...and still trying to figure everything out., which really was a main reason she was so funny. Also, after everything she went through with Xander and then getting her vengeance back on, she did lose a lot of her care-free, funny persona... she kinda had to. But when it's all said and done, Anya is Anya and I adore her! =P
 
Anya was always Anya... 🙂

I do think though that she was absolutely brilliant in season 4 and almost stole the show from the rest of the cast.

I think Anya, while toning down the funny, remained great in Season 7.

She was trying to find a place in the world by herself.

It's not like she stopped being funny, her interactions with Andrew were great.
 
There are some GREAT funny Anya moments in seven.... personally my favs would be when she berates Giles and mistakenly thinks he blew up the watchers council and pretty much one of my fav moments of the season with Willow when she "doesn't have any money" and there in sync "was it you" when they were talking about the boy found skinned alive.
