I wish Anya didnt die but i guess someone had to *coughBUFFYcough* And i think Wood would be too well DUH if he died, i'm glad Joss chose someone we cared about to die, it made it better that way.

They had just flattened the city, destroyed everything they had ever known, they were in shock.
An as for letting them get married first, I was actually glad when i found out that she died that they didn't get married. i think then it would have been too hard.

Maybe Joss wanted a big imact on a death and Wood wouldn't of been such a shock!

You know...that's exactly why I think it should have been Xander....
Even though Anya and Xander were both kinda "finally" fully-developed...I think it would be interesting to see Anya living on and being a real "human girl"...I could just see her being some rich man's housewife....or trophy girl....

I think Giles or Xander would've been the best way to go...

I pointed out a while back that if maybe they got married she wouldn't oif died! The slightest things can change time 😉

i kinda of get used to..all my favorite caracters end up dying..Tara, Anya and Spike..🙁
i hated seing her die..i love her with Xander and Andrew..but since when did Joss gave us what we wanted or a happy ending? i still wish she and xander got married...
JustAnnie: spike died in the hellmouth, by blowing or desintegrated the hellmouth and him as well..really sad the "i love you" part. he did come to angel but inicially as a ghost..now he have a body again.

Ok. Thanks. So he doesn't die for good? He comes back? Ok...I'm calm again now! lol! Is it in s5 he comes to Angel? That's so long until it comes to Norway...We're still on s2...

That does suck! Poor you!
When in s7 does he die then? And does Buffy and the others find out that he comes back? Does Buffy care? I know this thread is about Anya's death, but I don't wonna make a new thread for a few questions (ok, many, but still)
I'm gonna miss Anya...I love her. Everytime I hear the word "bunny" I'm gonna start laughing thanks to her. Or cry...Depends on my mood. I can't believe she dies! It's so unfair! But I guess someone does sort of have to die, and there isn't really anyone else I'd prefer dying...Willow can't die, cos I want a Willow spin off. And it can't be Xander, cos he has to be in the Willow spin-off. And Buffy has died so many times it's getting boring. And Giles...Well, he's needed in the Willow spin-off aswell...lol. Noone should have died...

i think it was really sad that anya died! i think the scene she died didn't really stand out cause it was an episode where so much happened.
she should have died in an episode which concentrates on her death and not so much else

i think anya gave the show very funny situations and some really sad ones! i think if there would be season 8 anya should have a comeback...cause i can't imagine new buffy episodes without her

I was also very sad when Anya died, but i have to say i loved the way it happened.

The shock of it was what hit me first, it just happened! Bam, shes dead and i was like "What the....!". it was savage, it was instant it was exactly what happens in a war

You simply can't have something of that magnitude (the fight against the first) and not have drastic consequences. Having a few (ex-)potentials die isn't enough of an impact. It doesn't convey the enormity of the situation. Equally having one of the originals die is too much, you can't have a not of future hope at the end had willow or Giles died. Andrew was't loved enough. the only really option is Anya. Much loved but never at the core of the show.

As i said before the shock was the killer on this one, the brutality of her death (having seen it a few times it is pretty bad) and it not being particularly heroic, sure it was fighting till the end but not in the saves the day kind of way. This is what Buffy was talking about when she says when you lead people to war some of them die.

Also about the issue of Xander (or all of them) not showing enough emotion is a little false. They had just survived the near apocalypse, the towns destroyed, people bleeding everywhere, the future is completely unknown, their still effectively in a war like frame of mind and in those circumstances you don't have time to grieve. Plus i think they all new they very real possibility that any of them could die, therefor the shock wasn't as much as it may have been for them. But i believe there was much mourning to follow. For Anya, for every one.

that is totally true!!
but i just think that she deserved more than just having that dieing scence (which was just a few sec) and that whole episode was just so "overwhelming" that there wasn't enough space for a "good anya death" u know what i mean?

that was the thing that made me even more sad than her actual death! that there wasn't enough emotion
don't get me wrong...this was just such a big thing (saving the world, spike savin the world, losin many of them etc.) that there is not enough space to grieve, but i just wished ...for anya.
yeah, might happened afterwards.....but that was somethin we couldn't see

Yeah... I wanted to see how the Anya-Xander relationship was going to end, but NOO! Weldon had to kill her. I guess things like this happen in real life... or similar events...

Anya's death was quick and unexpected. Its kind of shocking because you don't expect someone whos lived for 1000 years to die so suddenly and bluntly.

I have to say amen to that...My sister missed it completly when we watched the episode

Well said Q! Everyone was still in a state of shock at the end. I think once everything calmed down and they got their wits about them, the magnitude of Anya's death sunk in and they all grieved. But it would have been nice to have seen it.

So who'd you kill??Xander,Willow,Giles?? It had to be someone important....

I would've killed off Giles. His death would've had more of an impact on Buffy and the gang than Anya's.

Does anyone else wish Anya hadn't died? I really liked Anya~ I thought she was funny, and that her and Xander should be together. I dont think she should have died!
i also liked anya but they had to kill of some one
if they all came out alive then there would be no fun
u get my point

Buh, don't like it...
I was watching the show, and then all of a sudden... WOH! Anya dead. Not cool. Kill off someone else, Dawn for my part (nooo don't flame me 😉).

I think Whedon just has the habit of killing of my favorite characters. Anya, Tara, Spike... Ah well.
