Anyone Else Love Ethan Rayne?

I am watching season 2 again and man i love him. He's such a snake but he's so snarky, and funny, and yeah ok in the end a total wuss. But i thought as a character he was just so hilarious.

Anyone else or am i totally alone in this?
 
I think he and Giles would make a great team in a sort of Spike/Angel way if something could be worked out with a suitable story.
 
Pure love. I adored this character, and we did not see near enough of him in the series. Though I suppose that might have caused a little too much chaos in Sunnydale.
But yeah, I loved Ethan. I think he was the only person ever to have the last word in a conversation with Buffy. Even if it only happened once. Haha.
He had a wit, and such great one-liners, that could have you laughing right out loud. Plus, gotta love the 'aren't-I-great-so-please-don't-hurt-me grin'

Too mean and evil for me to like :lmao: But he was hilarious. I loved when Giles left the crypt and he comes out of the shadows and makes a speech and then Giles comes back in :lmao:
 
Ethan wasn't really mean and evil. I mean whenever he did anything in Sunnydale it was never for evil intent and it never had someone as a malicious target. He only ever did stuff because it was fun (not thinking about any consequences).
I mean in Halloween his plan isn't for everyone to die and get eaten, his plan is just to basically see how crazy things get when they become their costumes. He's a worshipper of chaos after all.
The Dark Age- no evil plan, just wanted to save his own skin. Haha. He even tells Buffy when he tattoos her 'I actually kinda like you, I just like myself a whole lot more'.
Band Candy- He was hired. And he is a man who would do anything if it benefited him. And taking this job did. But he didn't do anything malicious with it- just turned the adults into teenagers because it was another laugh. (He didn't take into account the fact Ripper would be awoken...mwa haha)
And A New Man. He was just up for causing trouble for Giles in a vair amusing way. I mean he even admits he only stayed around to 'stay and gloat'.

See, he's not evil. Just misunderstood. hehe.
 
I love him! he's kinda like Harmony...when he tries to be bad he sucks! In a New Man when he and Giles get drunk...hilarious🙂

Yeah, "I slipped a pellet into your beer. You'll be dead in ten minutes." And he wonders why Giles never sends him a Christmas card!
I love Ethan's character and really wish they'd shown more of him during the run of the series, not a big bad as such but just mischievous and all that.

It would have been great for him and Giles to have partnered up for a while, ok not the way one of my friends wants them to LOL but helping out the Scoobies now and then, while still manging to cause a few problems himself.
 
yeah a Giles Ethan partnership would be interesting, because although its pretty clear Giles has issues with him, its also clear that there still is a friendship between them, even if Giles wouldn't like to admit it, which is why the dynamic between them is great.

But he was such a sleazeball, always sneaking off and running away when he had the opportunity. I thought that made him funny.
 
Yeah same here. I mean while everyone was talking you always saw Ethan sneaking off in the background. Haha. I mean Ethan will always be a coward, self-centered and sadistic but that's why we love him haha. Like Ethan said when Giles said as such 'Here's to me'.
 
im not a big fan of ethan. he seemed to get away with way too much stuff in sunnydale without dying.

i wonder if joss was planning on making him a recurring character, not just some baddy for a few episodes.

yeah it almost seemed like he was going to have more of a role and then poof, he just stopped showing up.

Haha love the CSI idea... or Law & Order... though, Ethan was all about chaos rather than order heh.

Ethan is quite interesting character. One of the underrated ones. Witty in his way, chaotic, evil enough, got his style, hilarious. I love all episodes he's in.
 
Ethan is all of the above... and also attractive. I wish he'd come back around some more in the series. I especially liked the dynamic he had with Giles but, then again, I like anyone's dynamic with Giles.

No no not attractive! Bad bad posters! Haha. Giles yes, Ethan NOOO! But I would have loved to have seen them thrown together for the forces of good. Would have made for good TV.
 
Well, I didn't say he was as attractive as Giles. Just sort of generically attractive. Definitely not at Giles' level. But, then again, who is?

Ditto on what Palabra said. Ethan is attractive...just a different attractive from Giles. Personally, I like them both :biggrin:. Maybe I should change the 'I' to "I'd" there...haha.

Anyway for all those going 'bleh! Ethan! bleh again!' I highly advise reading ANYTHING by Sadbhyl. The girl, when she used to write in the Buffyverse (she's moved onto Doctor Who more now) she wrote Ethan vair, vair hot. And Giles too. Personally I fell in love with the huuuuuuuuuge series she wrote with Mydeira which was a Ethan/Joyce/Giles threesome story that covered season 4-7. It's was totally epic. Haha. It started off seeming to be like a PWP but it eventually became something so much more and holy hell, Ethan actually begins to care for someone (Joyce...and then, by extension Giles, Buffy and the others) and when they re-write the joyce storyline of season 5 it is utterly moving and you find yourself just wanting to hug Ethan which was....a change. And then she wrote another fantastic one which was Ethan/Buffy where Buffy gets stuck back in the time of Giles' Ripper days. That was the only Giles/Buffy thing that was acceptable because it just seemed to fit the Ripper persona. And of course we get some Ethan/Giles too. Plus another bonus is you get to meet the members of the group that were mentioned in The Dark Age.
