Anyone else not like Spike??

I liked Spike in season two....Then he just annoyed me.

I wanted a huge Faith/Spike fight in the final season  I thought they were building it up with their two confrontations. I was expecting her to interfere in the fight with Wood 🙁 I was not happy.

I was almost expecting them to sleep together. except Spike was in love with Buffy

Okay I'm gonna say this without reading anyone else's posts. Spike sucks. They only had Spiketo replace Angel. Although they didn't do a very good job. Giving Spike a soul why else would the do it if they weren't trying to make him like Angel.

Damn... I didn't mean to agree with this, I meant to disagree. Well, I'm sure you like the good karma. :winky:

I doubt Spike was meant to replace Angel. In some ways, of course he was, like just for the sake of having a vampire as a sort of part of the Scoobie gang. But it was still very very different. Spike is such a different character, and was never a real part of the gang.. they never really trusted him either.
Sure they gave him a soul, just like Angel had one, but I think that whole soul deal was so different in the Spike case and in the Angel case, and I think that was what they wanted to do.. Make Spike like Angel in some ways (some sort of relationship with Buffy, a soul, working with the Scoobies etc), but show how completely different Spike's situation was, how different everything worked for him, even though, given the facts, it might look like the two of them had a lot in common..
So yeah, in a way he was supposed to "replace" Angel, but he was definitely not supposed to be like Angel.. and I love that.. because I think Spike turned into a very interesting character, looking at what he went throught mainly from season 2 to season 6.. (and at least the end of season 7.)

I love Spike. I mean, when I first started watching BtVS, I can say that I definitely couldn't stand him. He was always complaining about Buffy or fawning over Buffy or SOMETHING over Buffy. And I hated him on AtS, too. I hated that he could possibly get redemption and Angel couldn't. I hated that he was there. I literally couldn't stand him.

But, there is a but. After both series ended, and I rewatched some episodes, I found I started to fall in love with his character. I felt that, contrary to popular belief, he DIDN'T get boring after season 4, he got more complex. I also became a certified Spuffy, as well. I don't know, I think it just differs from person to person. Personally, I think there are so many more avenues to explore with him and I would LOVE for there to be a spin-off. So ... I'm going to have to politely disagree.

I despised Spike in season7, it was the last season and they focused TOOOOOO much on him, the season I felt shouldve centered more around The orignal scoobies instead of a newly insouled vampire always being hte majority of the episodes with a big part.

I couldn't have agreed more. Well said. I despised him in Season 6 and ended up hating him at the end of that season.

I also Agree with the statment above!

I hated the bit where Buffy chose Spike over Giles, I thought that felt very 'Not-Buffy'

Erm, you did see all of the episode before that, right? Seemed to me like she chose the guy that had stuck by her side and told her the truth over the guy who had tried to manipulate her, lie to her and help in the slaying of somebody she cared about. Not too hard a choice, given the circumstances of that evening.

Need i mention here that i'm a massive Spike fan and have been since he first set foot in Sunnydale? Nah, didn't think so! 😀

Couldn't have said it better.
I agree, I like Spike pre-season 7, and in Angel, i didnt like the whole spuffy pairing anyway, and it did make spike out to be sorta..whimpy? one could say i mean sure he gave up his life to save the world...but he only did it for B..and i just think their whole realtionship was icky. maybe its cuz im a total Spaith shipper...plus spike is hot when hes not all repenty..😉

By himself, Spike is an okay character. However comparing him to others is what drags him down. Especially when we compare him to his rival (and friend) Angel.

Angel got his soul way before meeting Buffy--not because of her. Yeah, I know it was a curse, but a soul counts as a soul no matter how you get it. Spike only got a soul to try to impress Buffy He figures "she liked one vamp with a soul, so I'll try it"

Spike started off his appearances by trying to kill Buffy and Angel didn't. Angel just helped out by telling Buffy cryptic language about the harvest and fork guy.

The point is that (for me) Spike only did what he did because of Buffy. He would not have gotten his soul back if he never met her. Everything he did was because of her and not a desire to be better.

ok at first i didnt like Spike coz he was always trying to kill Buffy but i did think da relationship he had with Drusilla was funny and when Angelus tried to take his place it made me laugh.in season 4 he annoyed me a little bit coz again he was trying to kill Buffy a lot but then he got that chip in his head and it was funny coz he couldnt kill anyone.

i loved him in season 5 coz he was trying to help Buffy and protect Dawn coz she was the key which i thought was really sweet.in season 6 i kind of got put off him coz of da relationship he started to have with Buffy and i just thought that it was totally gross and some of the stuff that they did was just icky.but again my likeness of him returned in season 7 coz he was all crazy and the First was messing with his head plus you could tell he had changed and truly cared for Buffy, and the fact that he saved the world was just really cool,by the end of season 7 i was in love with him coz he turned out to be a really nice guy.

Yeah fair enough, but the difference is, he chose to get his soul back. Angel's was forced on him. But before I start this, theres a thread elsewhere about whos better.

One other thing, could you really call Spike and Angel friends??

Aimed at CC btw.

I don't like Spike, he was a good arc enemy; good as the fourth member of the Fang Gang. But that's that. He was annoying in Season 4 and in Season 7. As for in Season 6, well, I passed the point of dislike there.

You liar. You secretly love Spike. I will entice it out of you!!
i think spike was great i totlay loved his charature 🙂 he was a great vampire/ diffrent to angel him being all moody and spike like.... well sid visous from sex pistols 🙂 i think spike actuly was singing that in season 3 when he desided to go get drew back. spike is cool even the trio thought so lol 😀
spike rules 🙂

I think Spike is a good character, an interesting story line and many developments. However, I don't particularly care for him in Season 7. I didn't like how he was insane in the basement...I didn't like any of that, to be honest.

I've always liked Spike, and I liked him in season 7 too, but just not as much as the other seasons. I liked him alot in the final episode 'Chosen' though...how he was a 'champion'. It was sad to see him go through the dust process though.
