Vladimir Putin the Russian leader, is he related to Rasputin?

I doubt it, but .. .. ..
 
Ha, never thought of that, but it is an interesting coincidence. If only Putin could have the effect on his own regime that Rasputin did on the Tsar's.
 
I think the general perception is that he was a lazy and sleazy bum who doomed the monarchy of Russia.

The czar and czarina grew attached to him because of his “magical healing powers” (aka calming down an anxious child) but most of the people around them saw him for what he was.
 
I read once that Rasputin was trying to help (or pretending to help) the czar's son, who had hemophilia, but the public thought he was having an affair with the czarina. Of course, they weren't popular with the public, either, so it was another excuse.

He was brought in to help Alexei. The family developed a weird liking for him, and he was a charismatic monk who had his own followers already. True that they weren’t all that popular, but their existing support started to take a dive when Rasputin’s antics and general unpopularity started to dirty their reputation.
