Anyone else who didn't really care for Satsu?

I never liked Satsu because she is too one dimensional. For comparison, my favorite new character introduced in the comics who also happens to be gay is Aluwyn. Now, Alu is everything one would want for the verse new villain/love interest/mystery etc etc, while Satsu was just another Kennedy/Riley hybrid in a kimono: hot, sexy and somewhat dull when it comes to talking about anything but her feels for Buffy/Willow, or being slighted by Buffy/Willow, or getting over Buffy/Willow, etc etc. Whedon has a tendency to write this crop of rebound characters that are sweet-and-sour - kind of like a soup - and equally un-filling.

Man, I barely even remember Aluwyn. She's that snake-woman right? The one Willow cheats on Kennedy with. I don't remember a thing about her, personality-wise, only that she's 'myserious'. Do we ever learn anything else?

I disagree that Satsu is dull or a two-dimensional worthy type, she has a personality. She's dedeicated, a bit of a suck-up to Buffy, loyal, a talented slayer. I mean, she's been critised on this very thread of various faults, that doesn't equate really 'two-dimensional' in my mind. 🙂

She doesn't irritate me in anywhere the same way that Kennedy does.

I take it, you have not read Willow mini series of S9 ?

But honestly, I was mystified enough by Alu even before, what with her being written by Joss 'in person' all though S8 - except for the last arc, where she sucked, but then everything sucked in that arc except for issue 36 ( the sex is 34 , so you don't confuse things).

Dedicated suck-up is not a personality in my books, it is the lack of such, but maybe I am too picky. I think personality implies a bit more than 'best hair', a samurai sword, and a couple of cute accessories pinned to a hot body. Does Satsu have any hobbies besides Buffy? What was her dream before she was called? Who was her first lover ? What kind of books/movies/comics , if any, does she prefer? And we were given nada on all the points.

That's exactly because Kennedy has a bit more of a personality - albeit be it an irritating one. 😉

Actually Satsu isn't really the reason that leads me to believe that Buffy is bi-curious.

Actually, I firmly believe that every female is bi-curious, regardless of their declared orientation. Not sure about men, lol, but women for certain are very fluid. It is more of an aspect of social standing, personal traumas and tabus, and other circumstances that prevent most from 'trying it' (in one direction or the other), but I really don't want to go into this kind of discussion cause it is a mine field. To clarify myself, I think at the right circumstances even the most conservative prude would do it, it does not mean that after trying everybody who tried would decide to not touch men again and swear off potential marriage to one.

Buffy doesn't declare that she is straight, that is a mistake I also made at first.
I am not sure, but I think she tells Satsu at some point and vaguely that she is at least 'not gay'.

Agreed that these types of discussions tend to be a mine field :p we might not agree but I understand your point of view
Aluwyn appears as a major character in the "Willow: Goddesses & Monsters" one-shot from season 8, and the "Willow Wonderland" miniseries from season 9.

Yep... shortly before having sex with her again.

I didn't really care for Satsu. I've only read Season 8 once so maybe I'll be more interested in her next time round. For now though all I can really remember about her is that she is a slayer who slept with Buffy a couple of times. So I don't dislike her, I'm just pretty indifferent towards her.

I also found her relationship with Buffy a little jarring with the show. I know a lot of people thought there was something between Faith and Buffy but I never saw it. Perhaps a little bit from Faith towards Buffy at a push but I never saw Buffy take an interest in Faith or any other woman. So after 7 years of TV Buffy being interested exclusively in men and a couple of years before that as well with Pike it seemed a little odd to open the comic and see Buffy with a woman.

Not that it was a massive deal but I don't imagine that story would have happened if there was a live action Season 8 and so it made the comics seem detached from the show.
