New Netflix series dropping (as I believe the kids call it😀) tomorrow. I'm a bit bias as I have an interest in wrestling and love the 80s! But it looks promising and of course Alison Brie is simply charming🙂

I had heard of this and I knew it was set in the 80s but I had no idea it was about female wrestling. Normally that'd put me off (I'm not a big wrestling fan) but the trailer looks a lot of fun, so I might give this a try 🙂
First, they cancelled Sense8? I hadn't heard that. Haven't seen season 2 yet though.
Second, I resent them a little bit for using the awful Quiet Riot cover of Cum On Feel the Noize instead of the awesome original. Even though I do realize it makes perfect sense considering the shows settings.
Third, I hate wrestling but I still think the show looks kinda fun. I think I will give it a chance when I get the time.

Yeah I tend to think most Netflix original shows are at least worth watching. This is at least something a bit different. It appeals to me because it is set during one of wrestling's goldern periods and the retro style should make it quite fun🙂
Was thinking of starting a thread on the Sense8 issue. I actually think Netflix have handled that quite well by being up front about why the show was cancelled and at least they bothered to put out a statement which is more than your average network would do. It was cancelled for money reasons.
I think I would be watching this even if I wasn't a wrestling fan. If something is done right you can get past not being interested in its subject.

GLOW review – a riotous portrayal of the piledriving world of women’s wrestling
Me and a couple of other members watched the first two episodes yesterday. I was impressed. Brie was perfect for the lead. She just throws herself into it without fear, but is able to play the more human side to the character too and flick back and fourth between comedy and drama. The scene where she is watching clips of Hogan and Flair and psyching herself up is just lovely🙂 As a wrestling nerd I enjoyed the level of detail and how it shows you how cruel such a business can be (even more so on a woman), but also just what goes into being a successful wrestler. The retro 80s style is right up my alley, and the blurring of lines between performing and what's real was nicely down. There are some interesting ideas to build on and its really entertaining too. So far its a thumbs up for me🙂

Well, I have no idea who Alison Brie is but I like Marc Maron, if there wasn't so gosh darn much else to watch maybe I'd have time to at least give this a chance, but alas, my to-watch list is already chock full. (Talk about first world problems) Love that it's set in the 80s though, the hair and fashion must be quite fun!

Annie out of the Community and Trudy in Mad Men. Is Maron the one playing the director? Yeah he's very funny, but sleazy in places too😉
That explains why I didn't know who she was, I've not seen either of those.
I really like him as a comedian 🙂

You've watched Community Mr. Trick? it's one of my favorite shows. I too like Alison Brie so I want to give this a shot. Would you recommend it?

Yeah I loved the first three seasons at least. Brie's great. She's lovely as Annie. Not only is she funny and cute, but brings a lot of human qualities to the role. Interesting that some people think she's more famous for Mad Men. But she'll always be Annie to me🙂

I just found out about the show but am looking forward to watching it . Really liked GLOW when it was on even thought I only saw some time after it was cancled . Thanks for clueing me in to it 😀

I saw it on a local channel that for some reason was running it . They were repeats according to the TV guide .

Yeah the show stopped being as good after season three. But yeah Annie was one of my favorite characters she was one of the most interesting and funny of the group and I liked how sweet and cheery she always was. I didn't even know Brie was on Mad Men until after I watched Community and I didn't know she was in a few movies too lol so yeah I always think of her as Annie! Brie is really funny in real life too I've seen several interviews and she's super goofy lol.
