Anyone have a Whedon tattoo?

I'm currently considering getting a Buffy or Firefly tattoo (probably a quote) and wanted to see what other people have gotten and how much you still love your tattoo after you've gotten it. I only have one small tattoo on my finger so placement ideas for a newbie are welcomed too!

I have an Angel/Buffy tattoo. It's actually more of a Game of Thrones design, really. Anyways, I have "King in the North" at the top with "Winter is Coming" right below. Underneath that is the direwolf of House Stark from GOT. Below that is the AtS quote "We live as though the world were as it should be, to show it what it can be", and I have the letter "B" done in the Buffy logo design. I still love it.

I've been considering getting a new tattoo (I have one small one on my ring finger) and want to get a quote or small design from either Buffy, Firefly, or Harry Potter but can't decide quite what I want yet. Anyone have any tattoos from any of the above they'd like to share? When it comes to a tattoo from a show or book series you love do you still like the tattoo years after you've gotten it?

I considered getting the Buffy logo or the mutant enemy logo but I couldn't decide where I'd want them. I've seen them on the ankle and behind the ear but not sure if I'd like it in either of those places. Where did you get yours?

I go to Arizona State University and got mine done from a local shop around campus. I didn't know anything about tattoos prior to getting mine, but I really liked the artist and thought she did a great job.

If you want an idea, maybe a "Grr, Argh" tattoo with the Mutant Enemy character shown at the end of each show would be a good one.

I'm not brave enough for ink but I was thinking I could buy a lifetime supply of temp tattoos and just apply one every morning so people think I've got a real one 😀

I'd go with a quote rather than anything else. They're the easiest to get right from the artist's perspective (assuming you don't get one of those artists whose proud works abound on the internet who can't spell).

I have a tattoo which combines the Serenity/Firefly logo with a Celtic knot. I told a good friend, who is also an armature artist that I wanted to get one or the other. She tells me that she could combine them; a day or so later she emails me a pic and I got it tatted on me.

No Whedon tattoos (yet!) but I do have other "fan" tattoos (one from a book, one from a video game). I don't regret them one bit!

For placement ideas, I'm going to be boring and suggest to get your first few tattoos hidden. But again, it really depends on what you want to get.

If you do get a quote, just a little warning. Many people think they are the most simple tattoos so they can't get screwed up. But I would still be careful about the artist. Since writing is so thin, if the tattoo bleeds out there are more chances of the lines looking really bad (vs a drawing for example where a bit of bleeding out is usually not too noticeable). My quote tattoo's ink spread quite a bit because the artist was too heavy on the needle. He was a fairly well known artist but I just happen to have fairly thin skin so he went in too deep. I still love the tattoo, but if you're a perfectionist it's something to look out for.

I'd love to figure out a way to get Angel's tat without it being a big ol' winged lion on my shoulder. Maybe if it could be smaller, but I think it looses some of its umph.

Placement depends on whether you want it seen or not. If you go with text I think the inside of the elbow, the collar bone and down your side is nice for placement.

Haha I like the temp tattoo idea. That would be great. If I get a quote I will definitely be repeatedly checking their spelling. I don't want something as stupid as spelling to mess up a good tattoo.

I'm also thinking a Buffy quote like "Walk through the fire" since "Once More With Feeling" is one of the best episodes ever. I wanted to maybe get it on the inside of my wrist? Or possibly doing an HP tattoo and getting a book that's open and just has the HP stars or lightening bolt or something on the corner of a page. What do you guys think?

I have a quote on my side (and it's big, goes from my armpit down to my hip). The side is known to be a fairly sensitive spot but the pain is very manageable, at least for a quote since the letters are fine and there is no filling. If that's where you want it, don't be too worried, it shouldn't be that painful.

It's not so much the permanence as it is the potential pain (I'm particularly not good with needles) and the worry that the permanent thing would be badly drawn or misspelled or something. An everlasting grammatical error that caused physical owies? It's like some vision of Hell.
