Anyone here like Harry Potter?

I read all of the books and saw 5 and a 1/2 of the movies. (I tried watching the 6th two times, and fell asleep both times.) I did not enjoy the books or the movies. I had to force myself to read the books.

haha, Alie, why would you read all the books if you hate it? :D
I despise Harry Potter with a burning passion.

Yeah, can't pull that off. You know me too well (for everyone else, Krystle and I met through Harry Potter... he just pulled us over and said, "Tabby, this is my secret godmother... Krystle, this is Luna's girlfriend." LOL)

Anyways... can't blame you if you already know this, but:

-Who's you favorite character? Luna and Tonks tie.

-Would you ever consider roleplaying HP? Yep, of course!

-Favorite book? Currently OotP even though I hate Umbridge and not in that "oooh, she's fun to hate" way, like seriously despise her and thought about stopping the series after book 5 the first time through.
However, my favorite changes depending on mood.

-Favorite Villian? BELLATRIX LESTRANGE! Sorry she killed your lover, but I adore her.
And no, Snape does not count.

I've tried reading the books but I can't get into them to be honest. Maybe I should give the movies a go!

The books are hard to get into, but so worth it... I recommend trying to have someone read it to you. REALLY good that way. My brother and I are rereading it to each other.

The audiobooks read by Stephen Fry are excellent if you don't want to read them

really? I didn't find them hard to get into at all, two pages in and I was hooked!
WiccanWillow91 agrees: Really? What HP RP boards doing to roleplay on?

On Great Hall, but the RP is under construction at the moment. And on Toujours-Pur.net. They have three HP RPGs on the go 🙂

Yeah I like, or love, Harry Potter!
Actually the whole reason I got into more is because of the similarities the series has with Buffy, especially with the characters Harry and Buffy. Harry shares most of his best, and even some of his worst, qualities with Buffy. Anyway, questions.
-Who's you favorite character?
I don't know anymore. When I first read them, it was Hermione, but now I like Ron just as much. I also adore Luna, Sirius is great and really interesting as well as Lupin. I also like Harry a lot more than I used to. It was because of Dan Radcliffe's portrayal of him, it made me appreciate the character.
-Would you ever consider roleplaying HP?
Never did it before, but sure.
-Favorite book?
Half Blood Prince, the short answer for why I love that book is because it was the most comparable to Buffy. Prisoner of Azkaban is my second because that was the first time I understood why people made such a big deal out of the Harry Potter books.
-Favorite Villian?
I've always thought Voldermort was a really boring villain, and I've never thought much of the bad guys in this series, but it would probably be Bellatrix because she's so crazy!

I like Hermione, Draco, Lupin, Fred & George, Neville and Dobby. Harry is okay but I've really started disliking Ron. Not sure what my favourite book is, but I love the 2nd, 3rd and 7th (Part 1) movies.

Anyone else unhappy with the ending? I mean, that epilogue was just SO cheesy! 😀

Oh, and Harry Potter is by far better than Twilight. HP will live on while Twilight fades into oblivion. 😀

Hated the book, LOVED the epilogue. Cheesy or not it made me happy.

Harry Potter has defined a generation. It's hard to believe the last movie is coming out soon. 🙂 🙁 I have all the books and the movies. I was one of those people that was like, I don't know if I wanna read something sooooo popular. Getting over that stigma was one of the best decisions I could have made....especially when it comes to fantasy, one of my favorite things!

Who's you favorite character?

There are so many great characters but Harry has to win. He's who we all would hope to be in the face of impossible circumstances.

Favorite book?
The Deathly Hallows because the climax of the end of an era was insanely page turning

Favorite Villian?
I count Snape as a villian....and a well played one at that. Sneaky, eccentric, dark, and strangely likable. In a close second would have to be my boy Draco Malfoy. He made life for Harry almost as much like hell... as Snape. 😉

Who's you favorite character?
I find Harry an incredibly sympathetic character so it's probably him. Or the twins, Fred and George love! 🙂

Favorite book?
Hard! I remember getting the first one from my friend and she was like "you have to read this!" (this was yeeears ago) I just kind of scoffed and thought 'kids book, uninteresting'... after the first few pages I was hooked and never looked back.

So the first is definitely special. But then... so are the others. They're all so strong storywise and well-written (can't say the same for the movies) that it's almost impossible to choose. Maybe the fourth or fifth one... really can't choose hehe 🙂

Favorite Villian?
Snape or Lucious Malfoy I think...

Props for the LL (Lucious Love)!
Okay...here we go...my Harry Potter obsession can come out here. I'm totally in love with this series. I only got into it last year but that was 'cause of my family not letting me read it. Yeah, it's a really long story. But now I'll answer the questions.

-Who's you favorite character?
Luna Lovegood is my favourite character...Luna and Lily Evans. I remember the first time I knew about Luna. I found a video of her parts in Order of the Phoenix on YouTube. I hadn't even gotten to that book yet. But I clicked on the video and watched it. Then I went got into the car with my sister and bestie and was like "That Luna Lovegood is a little...odd". It was the begining of my never ending love for Luna. And I can imitate her. Also, I can relate soooo much to Lily Evans. The Marauders era is my fave.

-Would you ever consider roleplaying HP?
Yeah, I would...and I do...and I have and yeah. It is my favourite form of roleplaying that I've ever done. I first roleplayed as Luna and apparently did a great job. I've also done Hermione, Ginny, Neville and Draco. Plus, my Harry Potter original characters are my favourite. Scarlett Paige Maddox, Serena May Maddox-Diggory, Topaz Shellwyn, Melody Marishon, Mathew Marishon, Rochelle Marishon, Trayson Marishon, James Carloe...etc. I love. HP rping is the thing that made me a better writer.

-Favorite book?
It's really hard to choose but I think it's Deathly Hallows. I loved the ups and downs of this book. I can quote the Romione kiss paragraph word for word and the deaths made me cry so hard but made me appreciate it more.

-Favorite Villian?
I don't know. I love Bellatrix and the complexities of Voldermort are great.

Lunaaaaa!!!
-Who's you favorite character? Hermione

-Would you ever consider roleplaying HP? Ehh, roleplaying really isn't my thing. (Online, that is (sw))

-Favorite book? That's difficult, they are all SO good. Ummm, I'm gonna say... Deathly Hallows.

-Favorite Villian? Hmmm... I'm not much of a villian person... I think Umbridge because she annoyed me the most, got under my skin.

-Favorite couple? Ron and Hermione. They are tied with Willow and Tara in my favorite couples. 🙂

-Favorite movie? So far, my favorites are the 3rd and 6th. I've only seen the 7th but once, so my opinion might change once I see it again.

I'm just looking for people to talk to who like Harry Potter. So tell me..

-Who's you favorite character?
-Would you ever consider roleplaying HP?
-Favorite book?
-Favorite Villian?

Or anything else you like about Harry Potter.

DID I HEAR HARRY POTTER?

Harry Potter is love
When I was young, I loved reading anything, then my mum put a Harry Potter in my hands and it became the book I could not stand not reading. It was like I had no will, I had to read Harry Potter. When I had read the four book (before 5th was released), I just started reading the whole serie again. I learned so many words reading Harry Potter, like infinitesimal or meekness. I loved it so, so much! Now it's still something I love a lot, but it's not as serious as it used to be 😀

- My favourites characters are Hermione, Snape, Remus, Sirius, Luna, Neville, Draco, Lucius.
- Nah, no roleplay for me!
- My favourite books are the 3th and the 5th, because in those we find out a lot about The Marauders. Love those peeps! And I love so much in the 3th when the truth is revealed about Sirius and Pettigrew, and the whole Ministery of magic scene in the 5th
- I really like Draco and Lucius, but how bad are they, really? 😉 Snape is my favourite, but he's not really a villain! (it was a shocker for me to know what was actually going on in his mind/life.) I think that after his death, and as Harry found peace with Snape (too late, idiot), he should have changed the name of the Slytherin house into Snape house, to erase the bad reputation of the world and honour Snape's death, who was in my opinion, one of the real heroes of the book.

Sirius because I imagine him SEXY AS HELL

That's the image of Sirius on the cover of the French edition. Totally found "Damned he is...Yum". (even tough I was 8 years old :tongue3🙂
8554e10e22a0792f43fed110.L.jpg

And I thought Remus was so huggable, like, "Come here, have some chocolate ". Yeah, I totally loved their character because of those two images, when I was young 😀

Who's you favorite character?
I just love Luna. She's the best. I also like Hermione too.

Would you ever consider roleplaying HP?
I guess so. Though I'm not sure. I only tend to roleplay Warriors, Buffy or Angel, and random pointless stuff, not so much Harry Potter though.

Favorite book?
Hmmm....I guess I'd have to say Deathly Hollows.

Favorite Villian?
Bellatrix.

Who's you favorite character?
So many good ones to choose from! Ron; partly due to his comments, the Weasley Twins; they're hilarious, Luna; just 'cos she's so cute and crazy, and Hermione; due to her know-it-all attitude.

Would you ever consider roleplaying HP?
I have actually participated in a HP roleplay, for a while, but I don't think I'd do it again, just because over the years I've lost interest in it, as I've grown up, but I still love the series.

Favorite book?
This is a difficult question, since I can barely remember reading them, but I have memories of me and my mum reading the first two books; a chapter before bed when I was 7 or 8, which I loved. I'd say I liked the seventh one though, as I was so excited about buying it and I read it in about 3 days (even though I only remember bits of it!)

Favorite Villain?
Bellatrix! She's so insanely evil, it's hard not to love her. I also liked Umbridge in the Order of the Phoenix movie, but not so much in the book, I hated her then cos I missed Dumbledore.

WARNING: Rant.

/begin rant

On a different note, did anyone else HATE the sixth film? The trailers looked amazing and I didn't get a chance to watch it in the cinema, but I borrowed it off my cousin as soon as they got it on DVD and watched it, and it was way too dark for my liking, and the fact they cut a lot from the books; I wouldn't mind if it was little stuff, but it was actually major things, as well as replacing it with a completely different scene which was never in the book. Also, half of it was about the Harry/Ginny relationship, which I wasn't keen on in the books, so I wasn't happy about the whole film being centred around their relationship.
However, the thing I did like about the movie was the Ron/Lavender scenes, as well as the scene with the love triangle in the Hospital Wing, I thought that was cute.
It's why I haven't actually gotten round to seeing The Deathly Hallows Part 1 yet.

/rant over

Sorry! That's the only quibble I have with the series, otherwise the books and the rest of the movies are really good 😀

I agree the 6th film is awful. Too much was missing from the book felt too rom com like for a Harry Potter film

I still find it hard to watch without yelling at the tv...and asking whether any of the screen writers have actually read the book.
Anyone else unhappy with the ending? I mean, that epilogue was just SO cheesy! 😀

I seriously hated the epilogue. It was cloyingly and almost creepily positive, it seemed unrealistic that after everything that happened, the moment Voldemort was defeated, absolutely everything was fine and dandy. It gave us no information other than who married who, which even the dumbest reader could have assumed from the pre-epilogue ending. The Dead Guy Jr-style names were painful to read, and the prose in general was very childish and read like a extract from Book 1. The whole thing read like your average fanfic. The book should have ended with the trio in Dumbledore's office, the entire epilogue was completely unnecessary.

Actually the whole reason I got into more is because of the similarities the series has with Buffy, especially with the characters Harry and Buffy. Harry shares most of his best, and even some of his worst, qualities with Buffy. Anyway, questions.

Yeah, I can see a lot of similarities between the characters of HP and Buffy.

Buffy = Harry (Brave and selfless hero(ine) who has the burden of being The Chosen One forced on them and just wants to live a normal life)
Xander = Ron (Everyman with no special powers, suffers from being overshadowed by everyone around him, but very brave. Often used for comic relief)
Willow = Hermione (Clever and geeky witch, obsessed with rules and organisation)
Giles = Dumbledore (Mentor figure and Mr. Exposition. Fatherly and seemingly harmless, but turns BAMFy when he needs to. Hides a dark past)
Cordelia = Draco (Rich, spoiled, mean and snarky, acts as an antagonist in the arly stages)
Spike = Snape (Was once evil, but turned and joined the side of good, all due to his love for a woman who will never love him back)
Anya = Luna (Doesn't seem entirely in touch with reality at all times and ignores many normal human social conventions entirely)
Dawn = Ginny (Younger sister of main character, doesn't like being excluded and treated like a useless little kid)
Wesley = Neville (Starts off largely useless and incompetent, filled with self-doubt, turns into a complete BAMF later on)
Snyder = Umbridge (Love-to-hate headteacher villain who hates children and revels in mentally torturing students)
Drusilla = Bellatrix (Viciously evil, enjoys torture, has a slavish devotion to a man even more evil than her, and above all is completely and utterly insane)

K

Yes exactly, except for the Dawn=Ginny. Ginny is really powerful and strong, noted for her lack of whining/crying.

I love Harry Potter, and I'm really excited for the next Deathly Hallows even though I'll be bawling my eyes out, I did reading the book, so I know I will watching the film, and I don't think I need to say why. Also I'm really hoping Oliver will be making an appearance cause I love Oliver

-Who's you favorite character?
I can't just pick one haha, too difficult, I guess my top 4 would be - Oliver, Tonks, Lupin and Harry
-Would you ever consider roleplaying HP?
I have actually done a Harry Potter roleplay but on a message board, it didn't have the characters from the books/films but yeah it was really good, I enjoyed it. I'd probably do it again.
-Favorite book?
Favourite book, it's a toss up between Order of the Phoenix, Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows.
-Favorite Villian?
Snape, definitely Snape. Although he doesn't really count though does, or does he, well I'll say Lucius and maybe that is because I might have a bit of a thing for Jason Isaacs.

H

Word Bia, Jason Issacs like a muthaf*cka!
I like Harry Potter. 🙂 I read the books (except for the last one. I started it but never finished it).

Fav Character: Hermione

Fav Book: Order of the Phoenix

Fav Villian: Snape

I've been thinking about reading the series again. I really want to finish Deathly Hallows.

So who's looking forward to the new film? Will you watch it in 2D or 3D?
