Anyone like Angelus?

I just want to say a comment about sth InsaneMystic said. In "Angel" , it was still the 1st season of Buffy, Joss never knew if they were going for a second season and of course noone could imagine a spin-off series for the character Angel and his past and future battles. So the "i've never fed on a human soul..." is correct at that moment cause that was the script. I know you see the story itself but we can't ignore the fact that, at that moment the script was exactly what Angel said.
You're right hun, that's why I said I know it's retcon. 🙂

I agree with you that, at the time "Angel" was shot, they most likely intended to have the never-fed comment to be nothing but literal truth. When they later on added contradictory info (= retcon), however, they proved in hindsight that he cannot have been anything but lying. It's more than likely that they didn't plan this from a meta/realverse viewpoint - I doubt Joss ever sat down and said, "ok let's make him lie about his past" - but the effect in the canon Buffyverse is that it can't be denied that Angel lied to Buffy right from the start, we can only theorize why he lied. Unfortunately for the integrity of the character, explanation that makes the most sense to me is the one above that reflects very, very badly on the guy.

sorry :) I didn't know what "retcon" means! Thanx for explanation!
I was never a big Angel fan in the Buffy series, I thought he was a whiner and very immature despite the fact that he was hundreds of years older than the others. However, I liked him much more in the Angel series. Once he started into his role of the Champion he was much more tolerable. There were still moments when he was irritating but when he was forced to be a leader he seemed to fall into that role.

Angelus is amazing, ruthless, and brutal. He's better than Angel, and I like Angel. Although, I think that Angelus is better in small doses, so I like that they only have Angel go bad every once in a while.
