"Cordy: One thing you can say about Angel at least he's consistent. It's always some little blonde driving him over the edge."

Do you think Cordelia subconsciously dyed her hair blonde after realizing that Angel is into blondes? Do you think Angel also subconsciously only started noticing Cordy as for being more than a friend only after Cordelia turned blonde? First, Cordelia gets blonde highlights. That's when Angel started to notice her. Cordy went back to a brunette but then later on dyes her hair completely blonde. During this period was when Angel seems to have had fallen for her (but things weren't clarified because Angel was trapped in a box underwater).

Angel even started kissing blonde highlights Gwen Raiden when they first met. Angel isn't really much of a playboy but pulled this off on Gwen.

Do you think there's a correlation between Angel's attraction for blondes and that blondes have been the loves of his life? Darla, Buffy, Cordelia, Gwen (just highlights), Nina.

And do you think Cordy's hair color had a big factor on Angel's attraction for her? Think about it, Angel never saw Cordy that way, even after Cordy got her visions during Season 1. The ball started rolling on season 3 and 4, with Cordy being either fully blonde or just highlighted. Sure, it can't be the only factor but do you think this had a major role with Angel's subconscious?

Well their relationship was getting much closer later on the show.

Episodes like ''Waiting in Wings'' which is before Cordy did anything to her hair (if I'm not mistaken) there was still some love in the air. Lorne knows that Angel has a thing for Cordy and when he point it out Angel denies it and then he goes thinking about him not having anything to offer her. So this only means he loves her more then just a friend by now, he's just not sure about his feelings.
This also applies to Cordelia, she isn't sure about her feelings towards Angel at this point.

Sure, Cordy going blonde could have been a plus for Angel but I really don't think it mattered at all. Besides... we all know Charisma's hair was more beautiful dark and long.

The man has a type i.e. small little blonde things that boss him around and/or kick his arse. (sw)

Angel fell for Cordy when she was still brunette. Cordelia wasn't blonde until after she came back from her vacation with Groo. Angel still had feelings for her, but they had developed prior to her adventures in bleach.

However, Cordelia didn't realize SHE had feelings for Angel until after she was a blonde. If that means anything, lol.

Well, Cordy got blonde highlights the episode after Angel fired them all.

Well, Cordy got blonde highlights the episode after Angel fired them all.

Cordy changed her hairstyle a lot! unfortunately lol
first it was all short and wrong 😛
then she made some highlights
if I remember correctly, she then darkened it... again
after that, cut short and full on blonde

but when Cordelia returned, having what it seemed like her natural hair color (in ''You're Welcome), that's when Angel kissed her with passion 😉 😉 so like I said, hair color isn't the issue. Got to love some Cordy 😉

Yeah but he didn't see her as more than a friend until after Cordy got blonde highlights. That was like the point where it started.

I think you're casting Angel in a very negative light here. He's not THAT shallow. Yes, Cordelia dyed her hair blonde - she didn't have a personality transplant (that happened in S4). She's still the same Cordy and that is the person Angel fell for...while she was brunette!! She might have dyed her hair, but Angel didn't start feeling anything for her until they bonded over Connor and her hair wasn't blonde then.

I violently dislike this conversation. Not everything is about looks and hair color.

Well, I frivolously like this conversation, because I take it with a grain of salt also known as tongue in cheek, and consider it a lark inserted by the show-runners. The blondness factor turning Cordy into romance-able option is actually something I noticed myself. Only proves that the man has his type, even when it is a kyrumption-induced case of temporary insanity. 🙂 The funniest part for me actually was that Nina, the ultimate rebound werewolf, was also blond...

I just feel like it's a subconscious thing.

First, Cordelia says, after getting fired, "One thing you can say about Angel at least he's consistent. It's always some little blonde driving him over the edge."

Next episode, she got blonde highlights. Was this her subconscious way of wanting attention from Angel, taking her job termination as rejection?

Angel, was around Cordy for 4 seasons in BtVS. Early in Season 1 of AtS and Cordy turned from preppy ditsy girl to being Angel's connection to TPTB. No romance at all. Then poof, ever since Cordy got blonde highlights in Season 3 (even though she dyed it back to brunette before dyeing it to a full blonde later on), Angel begins to develop feelings for Cordy.

Don't you think it was like a trigger for Angel's attraction? The only person that Angel was attracted to, that wasn't a blonde, was Eve but that was magically induced (Lorne).

Sure, Angel likes Cordy for more than just hair color. But the way I see it, subconsciously, Angel never "saw" Cordy as attractive until it was triggered by the blonde hair... something Angel is into.

Wouldn't you agree? It's like having a boyish female friend that you've been around for so long that you consider her as one of the guys but then when you see her, in a special event, looking very beautiful in a dress, salon hair, etc.. that makes you go "wow" and realize that she can be more than just a friend. It doesn't seal the deal but it just triggered, you know?

Angel was never that shallow. Buffy, Darla and Nina are all pretty different characters who just happen to have blonde hair.

In fact I can't think of any Buffyverse character who has a consistant type. Not Buffy, Giles, Wesley...nobody.

Maybe Xander, he seems to like girls who speak their minds...Cordelia, Anya, Dawn- all pretty forthright in their own way. 🙂

And I really only saw Cangel working in 'You're Welcome' anyway, when the two of them kissed with such passion and you saw how much Cordelia actually meant to Angel. 🙂

Anyway, I always prefered Cordy as a brunette, she didn't suit the blonde bob thing she had at the end of S3 at all, imo.

Cordelia had blonde highlights in BTVS. S2 I think it was. It was a decision that Charisma herself made and one that the bosses didn't agree with. Because her decision was taken out of her hands in that show, now that she was the lead, Charisma retook the chance to go blonde.

I don't think it was a decision for the character. I think Charisma wanted to dye her hair blonde. End of.

Sure, Kate Lockley was, I remember that, and she was blonde.

I mean, why else would they all be attracted to a hideous freak like Angel, with the forehead and the eyes and the jaw...It must be some genetic thing that blondes have. 🙂

Jhiera, Rebecca Lowell and Fred wasn't blondes and they were attracted to him. Two of the three Furies were brunettes and they were all ummm ...Angel
so it will be better to reprocess the blondes theory 😛

It will be better to disregard the theory all together. The idea that he is only attracted to blondes is a fun little throw away joke, but it's not cold hard fact, and totally shouldn't be treated as such.
