Anyone see a correlation with our remaining characters

My hopes is that the angel series will bring us faith, angel, illyria, gunn and maybe a few surprises like Cordy (please Joss please! If only one resurrection can happen) Anyway, if not and it is a direct crossover with buffy month after month it appears to me that with Giles demise we have 2 Vampires with souls (Angel/Spike), 2 slayers (Buffy/Faith), 2 originals (Willow/Xander) and 2 youngins (Dawn/Andrew). Riley who went MIA after retreat really is just a supporting character, same with Warren and Amy and Oz. So......anyone strike it odd with all the death throughout the seasons that this is who remains?

That is an interesting comparison! Although Warren is dead. And presumably Amy has lost her powers- but of course that'll make her pissed as hell lol. I haven't kept up much with the IDW series though- what about Gwen and Nina, they're still around, right?

And I'm not super-keen on the resurrection angle, but I do agree with you: if we had 1 choice, I'd say Cordy. Then again, now that magic is gone, is the connection with the PTB gone too?

And where does Andrew fit into your comparisons? He was pretty key in s8. Does he have a doppelganger in the IDW world? Maybe Gunn?

If Angel and Buffy each have their own title, I don't think that any sort of "month after month" crossovers are likely to happen. Crossovers, almost certainly, but not THAT frequently.

And as for Cordy coming back, since she is now officially a Higher Being, no resurrection would be necessary. She can stop by for a quickey with Angel any time that she pleases.

I'd say there's a 100% chance Gunn, Illyria, and Connor will appear in season nine--they're the only benefit to Joss & Dark Horse taking the new contract from IDW, since he was already using the other characters.

As for Gwen, I'd guess Gwen will recur, as well as Det. Kate Lockley (in real life they lost the actress to Law & Order, and Joss brought Kate back in After the Fall).

I could see Nina popping up periodically, but they never got back together after Angel tried to send her away in Not Fade Away. Cordy & Wes are the bigger question since neither are dead in the traditional sense, and both had pivotal roles in After the Fall. Given Joss pretty clearly loves the Wesley character, and has been lukewarm about Cordy, I'd almost say Wes would be more likely to appear first.

But as for Cordy, it might be really interesting to have her return to human form, get together with Angel, and see Buffy's reaction/jealousy.

Why don't you mention Connor? He's more important than Andrew (2 youngins). He' Angel's son... of course he's central in an Angel comics.

I read SA said 'there won't be many crossovers'.

And I absolutely agree with you: AtS, show or comics, needs more characters and the best are Cordelia and Wesley. They both were killed by supernatural forces (because Jasmine, in fact, killed human Cordelia) and so their death can be reverted. If Warren and the Master can be resurrected, why not the core group of AI? Besides it is simpler, for the readers, to relate with characters already known than others, maybe simply invented as comics characters.

And if Joss resurrect Wes and not Cordelia because of his personal issue I swear I'll ask the First to haunt his dreams! 😡

It will be a lot harder to bring Wes back now that there's a lack of "convenient magic". Warren could come back when Amy could use her magic to sustain him, but the second the Seed was destroyed, he collapsed into a pile of guts. The Master was recreated by the Seed for protection. That kind of thing can't happen anymore. Of course, I'm sure we'll see Wes in one form or another.

Cordelia, as a Higher Being, can come down any old time she (okay, Joss) wants.

Uhm, Wesley was stabbed wasn't he? That's not supernatural..

Cordy, as a Higher Being, might be able to somehow pull Wes out of whatever hell/prison that the Senior Partners have him in (remember Lilah saying that just because you're dead, doesn't mean that the Senior Partners are through with you) and bring him with her back into the real world. Once there, the absence of magic MIGHT prevent her from leaving once again. That woukd, at least be a "sort of' way to bring the two characters back into the story line.

That would give Angel basically his old team back, plus Connor. Buffy's old team, however would be more problematic. Assuming that Xander and Dawn are going to at least try to make a fairly normal life, Giles is dead, and Willow (we assume) is going to be devoting all of her time to regaining her power, and in so doing, reintroducing magic into the world, that leaves Buffy facing Season 9 with nobody in her team but Spike.
