Anyone Wanna Talk Lost? (Possible Spoilers)

Hey, now the stadium-jogger-evil-bunker-gunman guy that Jack was dealing with sounded Scottish to me. Or some British dialect. Is that not right? Was he supposed to be an Aussie? Dunno...

The "quarantine" on the inside of the hatch door is odd. A message for the hatch's inhabitants not to go up to the surface?

Evil jogger guy would almost seem to have granted Jack a wish"”curing his ex's paralysis. He was giving Jack a pep talk in the stadium, mentioned something about Jack fixing her I thought.

Maybe the surface of the island itself was a testing ground for some horrific insanity inducing weapon. The bunker was for the scientists. So, was it Australian, American, some international conglomeration of nefarious ***holes? Or just some rogue evil genius pulling a Dr. Evil. Prepping for world conquest"”'til things went horribly awry.

But, there's something involving children"”Claire's baby, Walt...

Hmm. Cursed numbers, psychics, invisible monsters, "evil magic children" (Walt, with the polar bear and the sparrow smashing into the window...)

Maybe the island all has to do with telekinesis, power of the mind type experiments...


I was watching the season 1 DVD featurettes and JJA said they had mapped out the basic show progression for 5 years of story arcs....could be awhile before key questions are answered.
 
There is a possibility that the Babies were wanted for some thing involving the 'infection' on the island....

Both Claires child and Alex were born on the island, maybe the 'others' are of scientific decent and believed something in the child was a possible vaccine....the womb protects a child against alot of things, and a new born has those present in its body after birth.
BUT obviously the two new borns are not the carrier of this 'anti-body' but Walt is....
 
The part that gets me is that the jogger told Jack at the stadium that he would "see him next lifetime"....

OK, that song in the bunker, "Make Your Own Kind of Music" was from Cass Elliot, circa 1970.

I wonder if that was the last time the bunker was used for its original purpose and properly manned with scientists or evil geniuses or survivalists or whoever.

Also, seems like the song would have thematic significance for the show"”destiny vs free will, being true to yourself, etc. Wonder if it relates to the plot in some way.

And Sawyer, Michael and Jin finally get to meet "the others", apparently other surviving plane crash victims.

dang it as a viewer I hate waiting. though I like it as a writer.
 
OK, so, the bunker project was apparently founded in 1970, something like a consortium of universities working together in a project called, Swan? Cutting edge sciences, parapsychology, etc. And Desmond’s apparently just another semi-clueless victim?

And that crazy numeric code and button thing they have to do is just something like a cosmic, apocalyptic chain letter? Do this and this and this or the world will end...do I have that right? Need to watch that again. The big conflict between faith and reason...

And that chick in the hole with Sawyer, Jin and Michael was pretty badass. Had she been a cop? Had been flirting with Jack in the Sydney airport.
 
Did anyone else see the polar bears in the Orientation video? And why don't they tell you what happens if you don't enter the code in? Grrr!!!

Now I really believe that nothing will happen if they don't push the button. They're all getting sucked in though, even Jack the non-believer....
 
Aww, what a heartwarming episode last night"”all the sharing and caring at the end. Well, there was a little more with the fisticuffs"”with Sawyer and that Amazonian warrior woman with the pistol.

And now there are two WR&H alums on the island!
 
Sam Anderson shows up in a lot guest star roles on the nets...dramas, comedies...wonder if he'll be a new regular?
 
"˜Lost' Powerball numbers nothing but trouble for many

Anything explode yet? No? Good. That's probably what hundreds, possibly thousands, of Powerball players thought last week when they selected those numbers made famous by the TV show, "Lost."

According to a Wisconsin Lottery spokeswoman, more than 840 people selected those numbers across five states during last Wednesday's Powerball drawing, including 266 in New Hampshire alone. She wasn't sure how many Wisconsinites picked the same numbers, but ...

"A lot of people are playing those numbers," said Eva Robelia, spokeswoman for the Wisconsin Lottery. "There may be a couple of hundred in Wisconsin alone.

"There could be thousands of people who play the "˜Lost' numbers overall" for tonight's drawing, she said.

Viewers first learned about the cursed numbers during an episode last season of the ABC show "Lost." One of the characters in the show, Hurley (played by Jorge Garcia), used the mysterious numbers to win the lottery.

The numbers, though, came at a price.

Since then, nothing but tragedy and good ol' fashioned bad luck has befallen Hurley, his friends and his family "” not to mention a plane crash that stranded him and other passengers on a creepy island.

So will that scare off anyone this time around from using those infamous numbers?

"Not me," said Ku Thao, 38, of Merrill.

Thao and his family members planned to buy 30 Powerball tickets Tuesday afternoon, and one of those numbers, he said, will be the "Lost" numbers.

Last night's episode was pretty good....it was less weird than the last few. I want to know more about Michelle Rodriguez's character and what happened since the crash that turned her into uber-$%#%...
 
It's definitely a different dynamic now that the core group is split up a bit. It's interesting to see Jin and Michael kind of bonded together after being mortal enemies. And the classism against lowly Jin in the big city.

This show could go on for decades, seems like. They've got like a dozen simultaneous dramas going on with all the flashbacks...and each drama is compelling.

Are "the Others" supposed to be cannibals or something?
 
Dang! This show is getting brutal. I kinda reminded me of one of Joss's favorite pastimes. Take a budding romance when it's at its height and pull the rug with some catastrophe...

I kinda hate the way impending deaths are promoted by ABC, reviewers. Just let us be surprised already! You just knew Sawyer was a red herring...
 
Gotta agree, goldenboy. That death was telegraphed a million miles away. It was sort of brutal, but I thought her original (turned out to be Boone hallucinating) demise in season one was a lot more effective. They shouldn't have played the "it was a dream!" card with that one.

Next death needs to be unadvertised, and I think they should whack a character everyone likes. Just out of the blue WHAM! an alligator eats Sun while she's tending her garden. Or Charlie accidentally impales himself on his bass guitar.

At any rate, I hope they thin the herd a little. I love almost all the characters, but they have way too many to juggle, especially with dedicating a third of every episode to flashbacks.
