Anyone Wanna Talk The Olympics?

So The Olympics start on the 14th, right?

Anyone besides me going to be taking their phone off the hook, and hanging a "Do Not Disturb until the 28th" sign on their front door?

Boxing's my favourite, but I watch everything, and I'll probably be watching the new trampoline event pretty close, because there's supposed to be a local girl who's got a chance at a medal.

I'm usually only interested in the Gymnastics, Basketball, and the Boxing. Boxing is definitely my #1 fave sport...love it!

I'll just sit back this year and see just how many of our boxers get screwed by the judges THIS time. Where the $%^ do they FIND these judges anyway??

As for our Basketball team.....these guys are making me nervous. Quite frankly, this collection of NBA players comprise the WEAKEST Dream Team ever put together. Something tells me they're gonna screw it up somewhere, I can feel it.

I'm don't like the games really, i preffer play than watch.
But I'm gonna see the competitions where the mexicans are in 😛, In last olympics a woman wons the gold 😀
 
I love gymnastics...and normally basketball, but the U.S. team has been humiliating themselves lately. These guys are all superstars and they don't have real team unity like most other countries whose competing teams are their national teams and play together all the time.
 
I tried to post before, but the site kicked me out...wtf...? I'm usually uncynical, but the Olympics has become the "competition of the chemists", IMO. The IOC's "don't worry, be happy" approach in the past didn't help, and they've really poisoned the well by pardoning some athletes and whacking others when both were guilty of steroid use. Just look at some of the sprinters, and tell me they don't use steroids. I might tune in if I'm totally bored, but otherwise it's a non-event for me...and I never used to feel this way...I used to love the Olympics...
 
I like the opening ceremony. That's about it really. Sometimes I watch the gymnasts. I don't really watch much else though. 1 - I don't really understand sports. 2 - I don't really understand sports. 3 - I hate seeing all those ladies looking like men because of all their muscles.
 
I liked the Opening Cermony too, it was good.
I'll defiently be watching the Olympics, I'll be watching the Track and Field mostly..
 
I thought it was cool that the Olympics was held where it originated. The opening ceremony rocked. Securrity seemed really well established. It was so interesting to watch. I like to watch the swimmers compete.
 
I'm not that bothered but will be looking out for UK medal hopefuls - rowers, Paula Radcliffe etc and will try to catch the shot putt contest as Mrs P and I visited the arena at the ancient Olympia site earlier this year

S'ok, my friend, I knew what you meant. But that didn't stop me...😉 I'm interested in the shot putt too, since a guy from London, Jason Tunks, is a favourite.
 
I didn't really like the opening ceremonies that much, with the exception of the guy on the cube. It just seemed to much like "we're the Greeks, now watch as we pat ourselves on the back for being so cool".

Also, I hope the US team gets better outfits next year. two years in a row with those hideous "Roots" hats...*shiver*
 
Ive been watching them non stop!! I loved the Gymnastics..and those chinesse gymnasts looked sooo young..there was one girl..she couldnt have been older than 12 and she was amazing!yet they were competeing in the womens avents...(hmm) I cant wait for the Running..i love watching that..its soo cool 😀 *gets all exited* ill stop with the babble fest now.. 😀
 
I saw the synchronized diving last night, and it wa phenominal. I was cringing the whole time because I expected these girls to run into each other, they were so close!!

I'm glad the American men did so well in the team gymnastics, I really loved the Hamm brothers' floor exercizes. I can't wait for the marathon (its so cool that they're actually doing it from Marathon to Athens) and even more gymnastics.
 
I watched Cross-Country this morning. Of course Germany did awesome, with only one major fall...they have an amazing equestrian team. I'll be incredibly surprised if they don't win gold. And Great Britian's William Fox Pitt had an amazing clear round. But I was incredibly surprised when France came out on top after Cross-Country. I never thought they were that strong a country in the riding events. The U.S. was in fourth, but there's still Show Jumping, which is a strong point for the U.S. But also for Germany. So it should be interesting. They better televise it...or I'll be very unhappy. lol

I've really been watching everything though. Lots of swimming. Even the U.S.'s embarrasing defeat at basketball. I always like watching gymnastics.
 
I watched the US/Canada women's water polo match this afternoon. It was a great game. The US was winning 4-0 and the Canadians came back to win it. It was a really good game.
 
What did I watch...

I watched the women flipping around on those balance beams, but I forgot who won.

I watched the men flipping around on those things hanging high in the air, but I forgot who won.

I watched the men jumping off the diving board. The Greeks won. I wanted them to win anyway because they're from my aunts nationality and American wasn't even close to winning.

I watched the women flipping around on the mats, but I forgot who won.

I saw womens in door volleyball. The American people won! Yay!

I saw mens out door volleyball. The Canadian people won. Yay!

I saw mens swimming. The American people won! Yay!


...as you can see this is my first time watching any sort of olympics.
 
USA WON GOLD AND BRONZE IN THE FIRST EVER WOMEN'S SABRE COMPETITION!!!!

Sorry about yelling, but as a former Sabre girl myself (I quit when my best ever score was losing 3-5) I couldn't be happier. I just wish NBC had shown it...
 
I can't wait until they start airing the Tennis games (Unless they have already, and I will be slightly p'ed)

I've been watching the gymnastics parts, both men and women, and they've really been spectacular. Just saw Hamm win the Gold, even though he made a huge mistake on the vault. And yeah this one Chinese girl who was like 16 looked like she was 9.




Does this make anyone else think what it would be like to be the best out of everyone in the world at something? That would be AWESOME
