The time is Apocalypse Nowish. You're stuck, no way through the fiery havoc outside, in an abandoned building with the (freshly adult) son of your boss and former (or current) love. He's been taking care of you. You know his heart, his entire being, desires you. It's his (and your) last night on earth; he's never felt anything real, and you can't remember the last time you have...

Do you do what Cordy did? If not, what do you do?

...but I'm not Elvis. Make of that what you will.

To be honest I maybe would just because like she said he had been through so much. He wanted her and I guess that would make him happy. On the other hand if I was Cordy I would feel a little bad and sick. So it is a win for him and a loose for Cordy but if it is your last night on earth I guess it is okay.

No way. If I was in the same position as Cordy staying with an 18 year old who was only a baby a few weeks ago that I took care of then absolutely not. I'd be grossed out myself.

Besides that - I'm one of those people who think sex in the face of danger/death is just really pointless. That's why all the couples, who do it in the horror movies, die 😛

I probably would. You only live once. And if you're gonna die you might as well go out with a "bang"; so to speak.

Absolutely not. Even though she didn't really remember it, she knew she had been almost like Connor's mother before she was whisked away by the PTB. She should have known better.

I wanna say no but ehm, honestly... I'll just do a 'what she said' to Queen C's post 😀

No. Even if I thought the world was going to end, I wouldn't have sex with someone who I've been mothering a while because it would be kind of gross.

But wasn't it Jasmine?

It was Jasmine. Cordelia isn't responsible for anything she does whilst under Jasmine's thrall.

Also, just something I need to get off my chest. Cordelia changed a few of Connor's diapers but that doesn't qualify her as his mother. Connor never made it to his first birthday before being taken to Quor'Toth so what little time she spent with him hardly equates to mothering, she didn't raise him. Not to mention half the time Connor was an infant, Cordelia was off on vacation with Groo. No responsible mother I know takes off in her child's infancy. Fred was more of a mother to Connor than Cordy was but even than Fred nor Cordy raised Connor. The only person who could qualify as a surrogate parent as messed up as it was, is Daniel Holtz. Last but not least, Connor never remembered her changing his diapers or anything remotely like that so it isn't weird or gross he just happened to fall in love with her.

As for the topic, I'm a man so I wouldn't sleep with him but had I been Cordelia, a woman, I would have.

I wanna say no... But I have made sillier decisions regarding boys after a few beers... I suppose an apocalypse may have a bad effect on me!

I definitely wouldn't, but that's more due to my values/beliefs than anything else.

I think one thing we need to remember is that by this point in time, Jasmine had taken over. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it true that at the end of "Spin the Bottle" Jasmine is more or less awakened? As I understand it, before that time what we saw was a blank slate Cordelia with Jasmine somehow trapped inside unable to emerge. (Not the most believable of storylines I might add, but we'll go with it.) Anyway, when Cordy eats that memory junk at the end of STB, that's when Jasmine supposedly awakens and takes control, suppressing everything that is Cordelia, while drawing from her memories in order to fool the people she was close to. So in "Apocalypse Nowish", which is the episode that follows "Spin the Bottle," what we're seeing is Jasmine sleeping with Connor, as a part of her evil scheme. So, if i'm understanding the events correctly, Cordelia herself couldn't have stopped this from happening even if she wanted to. So what the question should really be is, "If you were Cordelia, would you have left everyone you knew and loved and ascended to become a higher power?" Because that's really where everything started to go south. Sleeping with Connor - not her choice.

But let's say for a second that it really was Cordelia choosing to sleep with Connor, just hypothetically speaking. Personally, I don't think the mother/son argument really holds up considering, as someone already pointed out, Connor was an infant for a very short time, about half of which Cordy wasn't around. Not really enough time for a super strong bond to form. Plus, Connor wouldn't have remembered any of the interactions they had. With that said, there still is definitely an ick factor there on Cordelia's part. But nothing like this has ever happened irl so it's hard to say what any of us would really do. I think a stronger argument against her sleeping with Connor is the fact that she was in love with Angel, and Angel clearly loved her back. How do you do that to someone? You know someone loves you and then you sleep with their son? That's the thing I would have problems with. I guess tho if the world had ended Angel probably wouldn't have found out, but for me it's just not something I could do. And I don't think it's something Cordelia would have done either to Angel, which lends itself to the fact that it wasn't really Cordelia. Bottom line: Jasmine was in control. Just like Cordelia didn't choose to kill Lilah, or do any of the other horrendous things that were done through her, she didn't choose to sleep with Connor.

It was Jasmine. Cordelia isn't responsible for anything she does whilst under Jasmine's thrall.

I completely agree with that statement. I, like many others was EXTREMELY uncomfortable with this whole storyline. I expected it from Connor, but not Cordelia. As time went on and I came to realizing that Cordelia was NOT Cordelia, but Jasmine trying to bring herself forth into the world, I decided "Oh okay, I guess that makes sense," but I was still really creeped out by the whole thing, for a number of reasons:

First of all: Using Connor like that was beyond reproach. He was extremely vulnerable as it was, already ostracized himself from Angel and the AI gang (basically just Fred and Gunn by this point), and while he could have come back from that without the whole Jasmine/Cordelia storyline, with that in play, it ruined any chance for Connor to recover from his pain, rage, and feelings of disconnection from the world.

Secondly: Like Angel doesn't have enough of his own problems?! LOL He's recovering from MONTHS being entombed at the bottom of the sea, trying to figure out what to do about his psychopathic son whom he still loves dearly and wants to protect, he really believes that this IS Cordelia, knows she's been missing, knows they missed out on the one chance they could have had to be together...

And finally/big picture wise: Did anyone else feel as though that whole "Cordelia being possessed by a demon/advanced pregnancy/being all controlling and evil with Connor" was a SUPREMELY soap opera story line in the first place? It seemed a little out of place on the show... It was one thing to have The Beast and need Angelus to figure everything out, but the whole Cordelia storyline within the plot seemed a bit outrageous to me.

Any comments are totally welcome! (And uh... Let me know if I should repost this under another part of the boards?)

YUCK YUCK YUCK!

Cordy and Connors relationship was so gross. Worst story line ever.
I love the Beasts arc in season 4. If they would have continued that and dropped the Jasmine and Cordy/Connor story line. It would have to be my favorite season.

Yeah, I didn't like it either.
Would you do what Cordy did?

Sleep with the son of the man I'm in love with?No way. Never in a million years.

If there was an Apocalypse going on I would be freaking out, not thinking about sex at all.

If not, what would you do?

Not do it! Easy as that. No bed sharing or feel warming would be going on. Boundaries!

Given Cordy's mental status, I thought it was all understandable. It gave her a dimension of humanity and made her more realistic, more vulnerable, more "soft" if you will. "Apocalypse Nowish" was one of the best episodes of the Angel series.

Though if it was up to myself... well actually, I can't say, given that Cordy was mentally vulnerable. But I thought it was warm and nice. Even if I know if most people will hate me for saying me for that.
