I don't know if it's just me but is there a marked bias towards Apple computers on TV? They seem to be featured in most shows these days - I've seen them most recently in Buffy, 24, Sex in the City...

I know that they're meant to be good (esp. for graphics work)but the majority of us have Windows PC's, so how come so many Apples on telly - is it just because they have the cool, recognisable logo? Apple's product placement budget must be huge!😉

So, what type of computer do you have? Are we real life computer people or TV computer people? It's Pointy's first-ever poll folks ::dance::

(mine are two Windoze PC's btw)

I hate to say it, but Windows is the way to go.

I mean I hate Bill Gates as much as the next guy, but he did design a fantastic operating system (if you overlook the error messages).

Apple is getting there, but has a long way to go before its as popular.

T.V. shows use Apple most (theory), because theyre cheaper and more colorful.

hope this helps.

It's a PC all the way for me, however, my entire school distric uses Apples, mostly because they got somekind of a deal on them.

I have a PC as well, I happen to hate Apples! My Aunt and Grandmother both have nearly new apples and they suck. I was so shocked, I had always heard about how great they are and I used 2 new ones of different make up and both were awful for internet surfing. The word processing, graphics and music were ok, but all that is ok on a Windows based system too. I won't ever buy an Apple, not after using those 2 plus hearing about how they are always having to be fixed. When I was in college I used apples and hated them then to, I just thought they were crappy because they got mistreated in the computer labs so much, but now I know they just all are like that.

I agree! Most you see on tv are macs. Personally I like the look of the Imacs, the colours and the keyboards - perhaps its for the colour reason they have them? But I hate the mac system with a vengence. I prefer the pc, I use a pc in one room, my mothers and I have a laptop so I can sit in bed and use it when my backs bad, and when i'm lazy and in bed using it.

PC with Windows..Apple is not really popular here..Just a few schools use it coz they made some kind of deal...

Count me among the legions of PC users.
My lady had an Apple years ago as her first computer, and it was just a horrible experience. I tried to use it, and was just confused...lol.

Windows is the better way to go. We use one with Windows 2000 on it......and I am currently building a PC in which I plan to install Windows XP.

Apple.....boooo.....hisssss.............

Wow! 100% Windows PC's so far. I must admit, I was expecting a couple of non-Windows users and that most would be using some version of Windows but not 100% - still, there have only been 9 votes so far. Any Linux or Apple users out there at all?

I love Windows! Macs aren't bad machines, mind you, but I'll be a Windows user 'till my dying "asdf". 🙂

I think the reason you see so many Macs in tv shows is that Apple has always cultivated the image that Macs are the computer of choice for artists and free-thinkers (i.e. Hollywood-types). If the screenwriter wrote the script on an iMac, and the director uses a G4 to check his email and read all about himself on Aint-It-Cool-News, chances are the Hollywood folks are going to arrive at the (hilarious to the rest of us) conclusion that Jack Bower would have a Mac in his office. Having worked for the US Department of Defense a couple of years ago, I can assure you that a Mac has never been used by any agency the federal government, except maybe to design some tourism brochures. Most of the Department of Defense's stuff is still on IBM AS/400s, and the apps that aren't running on a mainframe are using all-PC technology.

I read somewhere recently (either the Daily Mirror or The Times) that the FBI had taken to using non-MS PCs of late because of the inherent security risks. The article did say what they were using instead but it was a week or so ago and I can't remember exactly but it must've been Apples or Linux-based kit I reckon...
