Oh, and the Briley/Xander scene at the end always kills me. It just makes me so sad that Riley is so devoted to her and she isn't feeling it/isn't letting herself feel it.

Then this led me down this path: Let's say Buffy and Riley are all in love and never had their problems. Is it really responsible for a Slayer to get married and have the babies? Would it even be POSSIBLE? Because I would think demons would have the mindset of "Slayer has a husband and children. Kill them." Not to mention how impossible slaying while pregnant would be.

I always think about her talking about wanting Mr. Normal when she first found out about Riley being in the Initiative. I have always liked Riley and would love for Buffy to get to have the "normal" relationship, but I just don't think it's possible. Angel and Spike fit more into her world - they were atypical realtionships, and I think they are the only ones that would work. Yes, Riley is a demon hunter/researcher, but he and his wife can enjoy things like maternity leave, buying a house, and someday retiring to the quiet life. Buffy goes until she dies. Well, in theory.

You and I are one of the few Briley fans on this board LOL, and I too think it's incredibly sad that Buffy doesn't let herself get close to Riley. As far as the pregnancy thing, yes it would definitely be a liability, but Nikki Wood did it. She survived her pregnancy (& obviously her child survived even after she died) and I even think she faced her Cruciamentum while pregnant. Still, I think a normal life will always elude her. We have the hope of that at the end of Chosen, but Joss decided to go an entire different way in the season 8 comics, making her even more involved with the other Slayers, rather than allowing her to share responsibility, thus maybe having a little bit more of her own life.

I was thinking of Nikki Wood when I was writing it. Maybe Slayers are super pregnant women, but in my ninth month it was hard to just walk! I was bummed about Season 8, too - I figured Buffy would get a bit of a break with all those slayers running around.

Oh yeah, I looked and felt like a beached whale at the end, especially this last pregnancy (10.5 lber born at 41.5 wks). No Buffy or Nikki Wood, that's for sure LOL. I do agree about season 8. We'll see where season 9 goes, there's not a huge Slayer army for her to lead anymore.

Was watching this today and aw, my heart just breaks at the end with Riley's "But she doesn't love me" ... I'm like poor guy. Why doesn't she love you? You're swell!

Lol, certainly a different tune than the one I sang a few years ago.

The ep is hilarious and Xander doing the snoopy dance! Love it. Anya's mostly annoying in this episode though that's a minor detail
