Vision Guy gave this suggestion to discuss the three episodes that revolve around the gangs visit to Pylea. You can find these episodes at the end of season two.

Time to get in our car, say the magic words and fly through that dimensional hotspot!

What did you like/dislike about Pylea. How does it compare to other dimensions or our own world? Plenty of discussion ideas, so come one, come all!
 
I loved the way Angel got vain by staring at himself....basking in sunshine
Cordy playing with her new satus "Off wiht their heads..just kidding" lol
It was a bit cruel of her in the way she told Angel to leave Groo alone missunderstanding the sit bet beastie Angel and Angel after the fight bet him and Groo, but she did have the vision so...
I loved Fred's part in helping Angel back to himself when he went all beastie Angel that was sweet.
Over all it was ok but 3 eps might have been too much.
 
I agree with AV that 3 episodes of Pylea was too much. Don't get me wrong, it was intresting, but not three episodes long intresting.

There were a lot of things in this ep that I liked. Princess Cordelia was awesome. She was so funny and I guess royalty brought out some of her Sunnydale Bitcaness out.

Angel being able to stay out in the sun and see his reflection was cool too. The best inside him was very viscious. Although, I would have expected it to look a little cooler.

Lorne's family was very funny. I liked that we got to see where he came from.

The introduction of Fred was awesome. All crazy from being cooped up in a hell dimension was an intresting way to go. There never has been a crazy regular on BtVS or Angel before has there?

Overall, I think that the Pylea arc was good but not great. And I think that spending three episodes on it was a bit much but seeing how the story progressed, it all worked out.
 
I liked Pylea, but not for the end of a season. Especially season 2 were Angel went kinda dark, but maybe that's why they did it at that time. I thought there was alot of funny parts. Angel in the sun and looking at himself in the mirror. Princess Cordy was great. It was also cool to see Wes take charge of that group. I love his line "You try to get nobody killed, you wind up getting everybody killed". He knew that as their "general" that sacrifices had to be made for the greater good. I liked Fred, but hated Groo. Overall, I thought Pylea was different and cool, but I wish it would have taken place at a different time.

Anywho, Pylea was not my favorite part of the series. While I did enjoy Lorne and his family, especially Numfar's Dance of Joy, it just didn't appeal to me that much.

One thing I was confused about though that maybe you can clear up. I"m having a mind-blank. When they are looking at some of the books in the palace, and they fing the books marked "Wolf" "Ram" "Hart" what exactly was that supposed to imply. The Wolfram&Hart is every dimension, not just their reality?
 
Yeah thats what I got too. Like remember Illyria said that in her time Wolfram and Hart wasn't that powerful. That implies that Wolfram and Hart have been around a long time and probably is everywhere.
 
Well remember when Angel goes to the Home Office and Holland Manners tells him that Wolfram & Hart has always existed in one form or another?

I found these episodes a bit iffy, parts were good parts were boring but it was a good way to get them out of LA for a bit. I must admit I found the whole Fred thing boring, her timidness and the way she was grated on me. I'm pleased to say she grew on me but it took a while.

Princess Cordy was amusing, but for me the best part about this arc was Lorne. The one bit that always sticks out was when they chopped off his head, and him being a favourite of mine I do remember I gave a rather loud 'What the f' (you get the idea). And of course for us to find out that his species can still live when the head is separated as long as the body is still there.

From a technical point I liked the use of the colours, the greens with the bright sun. As most of the season is quite dark colour wise (owing to the fact that most of it is shot at night, vampire and all) so to have a change from that was good.
 
Yup. The color difference was a nice change of pace. From the dreary darkness of the whole season, these shiny bright episodes are very nice!
 
If you think about it the brightness of the world in Pylea was carried on by Lorne, his presance with the bright greens and of course the clothes, so a little bit of it was present throughout the season.
 
these are far from my fave Angel eps, but they do have some good points.
i agree with everyone that 3 eps might have been too much, but i do understand why they did the 3 eps. they needed to get Cordy to Pylea, they needed to get the gang there, and they needed to get the gang back home. plus, they had to introduce Fred and Groo in that time, so maybe 3 eps were needed.
i loved Fred's intro. i thought she was so cute and sweet and i remember wishing that she'd stick around next season. Princess Cordy was funny. i loved it when she, Wes and Gunn were trying to escape and Gunn asked her how she was gonna get her bootie through the trap door. Cordy's hoorified, and then Gunn points to all the silver in her arms and says 'that bootie' dunno, that just makes m laugh.
i also loved the part when Lorne gets his head cut off and Cordy's crying saying it's all her fault, then he opens his eyes and says 'don't cry' or something and she starts screaming, and she's still screaming two scenes later! loved that! also, when Angel and the gang are saying things over Lorne's decapitated head, and he says 'is that it?!' and the men scream and jump away and Fred just smiles!! that was the best bit for me!!
 
I love the Pylea arc for a few reasons. Not only did it bring us two of my all time favorite characters (Lorne and Fred for the Angelverse impaired) but they danced for EVERYTHING. It's like they taped a day in my life, threw in some green people and sold it as an Angel ep!

I think the pylea arc was great, and I really think it was necessary to get the group completely back together after the fights they'd had throughout season 2. I thought Lorne's family were fun, his mom with a beard lol... Also, I loved Cordy being the princess, she got to be a little like she was on Buffy. I didn't like Fred too much in the Pylea episodes, but I loved her thereafter, so I'm glad she was introduced.
I didn't really like Groo too much, don't know why - can't really justify it lol.

I really like the character arcs I know some people have mentioned these points but hey...

Angel

In this season Angel has had to face the innerbeast, this arc he does it literally. It also challenges the concept of self esteem and how people may perceive you which Cordy has a little bit of. It's interesting that earlier in the season the fauz swami talked about having a reflection in those around you. This is true in Pylea as people begin to see him as great hero without any of the ambiguity he faces at home. He can also literally see his reflection but he also sees the monster in his purest form. Wes tells him the demon isn't him while the faux swami says it is him. Either way, the key is think like a self possessed individual, if he believes he can face the beast and come back then he can use it to help people.

Cordy

Cordy gets a job in a commercial. It seems glamourous but her self esteem hits rock bottom. She wanted to act but ends up being a 'tool' to be exploited and all this from th girl who never takes crap from anyone? When in Pylea she is shoveling demon horse poo and is even called ugly. Again she becomes another tool and not even a glamourous one and then all of a sudden, wham, she's a princess, but she finds out she's another tool of exploitation. She doesn't succumb to being 'sexually dominated' and becomes truly liberated.

Gunn

Good old Gunn doesn't make the same mistake twice. Rondell died because he wasn't there for him, but he isn't about to let the same thing happen to Cordy.

Wes

Before they go Wes doesn't seem a confident leader. He lets Angel formulate a game plan, he dithers about what to do about the drokken and spouts useless information about the Hacklaar with two 'a's. In Pylea as someone said already he becomes a stronger leader, adhering to WC's bigger picture tactics. He also gets Angel to believe in himself, to believe he'll come back after turning into the beast.

Lorne

He had to come back to realise he didn't have to come back. Aggie, his psychic friend may have been right about one thing, they needed Lorne's help, and that was part of his journey. He didn't belong in Pylea and that's ok, he needed to rid himself of that conflict

I really enjoyed everyone's little journey of discovery

I agree that the episodes brought us a new major character (Fred) and gave us great insight into Lorne's past, plus it also conveniently provided an excuse, if one was ever needed, why Buffy didn't ask Angel and his crew for help with Glory in what turned out to be the last chance for any kind of major crossover opportunity for the shows (similar to the overlapping "Return of Faith" story the year before).
 
I think a lot of people are forgetting that the Pylea arc was never planned for the season.

The season was supposed to end with the whole Angel/Darla/Lindsey/Drusilla storyline. For some reason they couldn't get the actors they needed for the final episodes so they wrapped up the storyline early and in Joss's words "just went away to Oz for the rest of the season" and left all the W&H/Darla stuff behind to pick up in Season 3.

That said, I think they did really good with where they decided to go with the Pylea story. New characters, new issues for the characters to deal with... good stuff.

Lorne meeting his mum , joss whedon doing the dance of joy, Groo , Cordy being a princess .

Angel turnin into the demon thats inside him , Fred meeting Fred for the first time amazin , Wolf ram and hart books ,

Finding out Lorne's heart is in his bum lol

Well, she did click her heels and said there's no place like home. So it wasn't obvious or anything.

That said, I didn't like this story much at all.
It felt like extended filler.
