Are There Any Spike Fans Who Dislike Spuffy?

This is just a random thought I had whilst reading a post and I can't seem to recall ever encountering a Spike fan who not only didn't actively ship Spuffy, but genuinely disliked them. Surely there must be some? Right? Come on people, prove me wrong.

How much do you like Spike? Would he be your favourite character?

That's what I am looking for, people who view Spike as their favourite character, but hate Spuffy. In the same way that Angel fans can adore him but hate his most popular ships i.e. how I loathe Cangel or how some Cangels we have on BB hate B/A.
 
Well I think she means people who love Spike like he's their favorite character but they hate spuffy. I'm not one of them but I'm pretty sure I've seen some. People who love Spike and hate Buffy/spuffy. But its very rare.

Ah. He used to be my favourite character...until he got 'neutered' by the writers [lost his badness]. 🙁

See that's just it--people who truly love Spike like his redemption arc and embrace his change. Since loving Buffy was an integral part of that transformation I'd say it'd be pretty difficult to find those who don't enjoy the ship at the very least.
So much about Spuffy from season 5 through mid 7 was rooting for Spike's love to be reflected in Buffy; for her to feel the same way. Not caring very much for a post season 4 Spike would, I imagine, in most cases lead to an indifference about Spuffy.

I hope I'm not offending anyone by saying this: but from where I stand, a preference for Spike with Dru indicates a lack of approval of Spike's transformation. If Spike's story ended in season 3 then, sure, Sprusilla all the way. Spuffy represents Spike striving to become a man, and getting a soul for the woman he loves. It is inextricably linked to Spike growing as a character. Loving Spike is loving not only badass season 2 Spike but the man he eventually becomes.
My 2 cents.
 
I'm a Spike fan and Spuffy doesn't interest me one bit. He never seemed like his own character. Hid actions were for Buffy, to impress Buffy, or to be around Buffy. He only played at being a hero to impress her, and didn't even begin to really regret his past until season 5 of Angel. Like with Angel, Spike's character was actually able to grow after getting away from her.

Now that is an interesting question. I've certainly seen Spuffy fans who didn't have much time for Buffy, but never the other way around.

Amen! Amen! A-freakin'-men! I was thinking about this all last night since I last posted and I could not, for the life of me, figure out what it was about Spuffy Spike that bugged the heck out of me. Which was weird considering I thoroughly enjoyed him over on Angel. Now I know.

Of course, one could argue that Spike was the same way around Drusilla: tender, kind, 'good'. But he had never lost his edge when he was with her. With Buffy, he lost his edge completely.
 
Back when I shipped Bangel Spike was my favorite character, but then I had a change of heart and now I ship Spuffy... and Spike is still in my top 3 favorite characters.
 
Interesting, nicely spotted Kean, now you mention it they are kinda the Mewtwo of shipperdom!
 
Spike is my second favorite character and I like Spuffy, so I don't fit. 😀

But I know a lot of Spander fans whose favorite character is Spike and they hate Spuffy.
 
How about a Spuffy fan who doesn't care for Spike? I know a few Spuffies who don't like Buffy that much, but they all seem to love Spike.

This explains why I can't stand Spuffy. He lost his edge when he was with Buffy. With Dru, he didn't. And he got his soul for selfish reasons-for the girl.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. How do they view Spike? Why is he their favourite character? Someone mentioned earlier in this thread that Spike's evolution is completely tied to Buffy and so it would be hard to love him, to love that evolution and not love the ship. I'd love to know what these Spander fans think of that.

I don't personally believe in that "evolution" at all, but for people who see Spike in ways that I can't, I'm fascinated to know how they got there if they don't believe in Spuffy.
