Are vampires really evil?

Are vampires really evil? Apart from the whole soul thing, they're not much different from us, just another step higher up the food chain. They eat people, we eat animals. And sure they torture them and some times kill them for fun. But have you ever seen hunters? And you do realize some people cub baby seals to death! And then we go around wearing fur. I say they're a lot like us, and not nearly as evil as we always say they are.
 
The thing is, not all humans are evil. Soulless vamps are almost always evil. Spike, when he didn't have a soul and he had the chip in his head, wasn't exactly evil, but he wanted to feel like he was. Then, after he found out that he could hit Buffy in S6, the first thing he did was arranging to meet her to hurt her. Evil. He wasn't all the time, but he was technically evil if he doesn't have a soul, IMO. The little kid in "I've Got You Under My Skin" didn't have a soul and he tried to set his sister on fire.
 
i think vamps are bad...a few of them are evil(for instance,angelus).
if they dont kill humans,they die.i dont think that makes them evil,they only want to live.
we haven't seen any vamp enjoying human's deaths(execptions:angelus,darla,maybe spike)or something like that.
as alycat said,they are not much different from us.
i eat animals,dont think that makes me evil.
 
vamps don't have to kill humans to live. First off, a vamp won't die due to lack of blood, Wes and Connor have said as much, and second off, there are numerous animals that vampires can get blood from. Vamps are evil.
 
Yeah, gotta agree with WW on this one...they are evil. Incredibly SEXY, but evil nonetheless...
 
I believr they're bad, but evil sometimes...Human's blood is the best dish for them.Like humans if you can choose between turkey and goose,turky will win...

And no, WatcherWes, they won't die without blood. However they'll become weak and I believe in S4, Spike once said they become living skeletons or something.
 
lol,yeah,I think vamps are evil,ok they're not THAT much different than us,but they feed on human blood...
 
I don't. Do we ever make a difference between a good and a bad cow, when we eat one? (Not that I eat meat, but you get the point.)
 
No,but I'm saying if vampires would kill just bad guys noone would have a problem with that and think that they're evil....
Example- as far as I saw commercials PETA is mostly concers about cows and furs.I've never seen an ad for nor killing turkeys....And yes Allycat- we make a difference between sick(bad) and healthy cows...

well,we could live of vegetables or eat rats and we dont cuz we prefer tasty food.
they have options:drink animal's blood or human blood(which is way better than animal's).they choose the better option duh,they are dead but they're not stupid
 
Vampires are evil. They have no souls, so they don't have functioning consciences. They are incapable of doing "good" except inadvertently, or when it is in their self-interest.

Angel survived for 100 yrs not drinking human blood. Human blood is probably the best vamp food, the equivalent of high-test fuel for cars, but cars will run on low octane fuel too. They just don't run very well.
 
considering Angel is probably the most powerful vampire we've seen, I'd wager that animal blood works just as well as human blood.

So if vampires only killed healthy humans and no sick humans, they'd be good aswell?
 
Just turn the situation 180 degrees.If they'd just kill sick/bad people noone would care at least till they started killing children (even sick-we just don't accept that)...It's kinda hard to explain...
