For all the years I've been on various forums I've never really felt the need to do that.

If I am invisible, I am Out of Mind, Out of Sight. I have to go and practice on my flute and haunt Cordelia...and then work as a government assassin.

Really? If so I'm disappointed. That you can't see the invisables. Not totally sure I believe that though. Posting something to see how much rep you can get is more fun.

Somewhere around every 5-10 minutes. I can't even tell how often I've waited for a reply message from Shempy (or Jen, when she still was around) only to see that the "Online Now" counter had been out of date a few minutes, and my PM reached them when they had already signed out already...

Yeah I know. So one has to go by the time of their last activity. But you don't see the invisable ones at that place which makes it even more difficult to know how often it updates. You only see who's online or not and nothing else.

Does it really make any difference though? I think it's important that the mods are visible so people can ask questions to the person that is most likely to reply, other than that? whatevs man!

I don't care if people know I'm on or not though, I never really thought about it. A lot of the time I'm online I'm not even 'on' anyway. I'm logged on the majority of the time I'm at work, but sometimes I'll go 2 hours without refreshing...
