Why oh why is "Goodbye Iowa" in so many worst episode lists???? I know i'm the only who really likes S4 above many others but what the hell is wrong with that one, it's interesting, it's funny, it has Riley doing cool stuff which he never did, willy again, the kid dying which is the reason i like adam (please, no adam is boring replies, that wasn't the question).

what is wrong with Goodbye Iowa

I don't think it is because they dislike the episode...they just dislike Riley. He was set up that way. The audience experiances him kind of like Buffy does. He's good-looking, HUMAN, but fataly flawed in his relationship with Maggie and the Initiative. The Captain cardboard tag fit him so well at least till he got away from the Initiative. When he was no longer a pawn his character became more sympathetic but in the end the way he dealt with Buffy seemed shabby indeed. Feeling sorry for himself he goes for comfort and thrills to a vamp/whore, and when found en flagrante turns it around on Buffy basically saying it's her fault and forcing her into an almost instananeous love me or I'll leave you thing...blechhh isn't that the character you could just hate in a lover? He was written in an unsympathetic manner, almost set up to seem empty next to an unsouled but highly emotional Spike.

"Where the Wild Things Are" was voted as the worst episode ever at TVTome.com, and rightfully so. You know.. the one where Buffy and Riley have so much sex that it arouses sexually frustrated demon children. Lame.

An episode revolving around Riley isn't gonna be well liked. He's just not a likeable guy. The way they set up the Buffy Riley relationship wasn't much, so it makes no sense why they care about each other so much or why they go through so much to be with each other.

That, and he has no qualities that are likeable. He's just a tool who thinks he's in love with Buffy and gets in her way. And everytime him and Buffy have a little problem, you are waiting for him to cry like a baby.

I agree with some of that, but actually Riley was meant to be like that... especially if you consider the S5 arc...

and actually, please don't hate me, I like "Where the Wild Things Are"

Lorne, I like "Where the Wild Things Are" too, it isn't one of my favourites, but I still like it just fine. I also liked "Goodbye Iowa" too. Season 4 is definately my favourite from the 7 seasons, so that means that there is now two of us who really like Season 4 here! 😀 Yay for Season 4!

i disliked beer bad so much, i think season 4 was 'the worst' but there arent any bad seasons juse some arent as good as others, and are suited to peoples tastes.

my firend absolutely ADORES season 4 so that makes three of you
and i dont mind it at all
in fact my friend(the same one) and i whenever we go out like to a pub or anywhere and theres a drunken idiot wandering around we burst into giggles and quote
Xander: "what'd we learn about beer buffy?"
Buffy: "Foamy!"
Xander: "Good"

i guess its probably only funny to us, but if youd been as smashed as us the first time we watched beer bad and started doing that youd think it was funny too!
and the only reason ive ever been anti season 4 is because of riley and maggie walsh < i used to love her cause she was the bitchy mom from Bye Bye Love and i used to tell my mother that was her and shed be all nice to me, anyhoo, yeh initiative was BAD
the other stuff was pretty much good

Yay Prio Motu!

btw, amazing nickname
"judgement" is such a good episode, especially because it's lorne's first
