Ok, so Buffy is the oldest living slayer, right? Since most slayers die before they hit 18, what would happen to Buffy if, hopefully, lived to be, say, 80?

Slayers aren't supposed to live that long, so what would happen. Would she not age at a regular rate, and stay young forever, will she lose her powers as she gets older, or will she just be an old lady with all the stength she has now? That would be pretty funny to see...

But I disgress. What do you think happens to slayers as the age?

I've never thought of that before...

I think that she would still age, but not as rapidly, since she doesn't look a whole lot different in seven years so far.

Maybe there is a loop-hole in that when you reach a certain age, like 80 and you develop osteoporosis or something, you're revoked of your slayer powers cuz you're just too old!

who knows?
It would be nice though if she didn't die in the end.

All Slayers come with an experation date, Buffy's has come twice! But i dont think any Slayer will live to be 80! Unless you know, Buffy lost all her powers, and she wasnt the Slayer anymore, she could finally live a normal life after all, Ah!

Neither do any of the other characters! Except for Cordy with her new hair cut!

I think that's most likely the thing to happen, the human ages, but the demon power stays intact!

well, I would like for the series to end either with buffy dead and the hellmouth closed, or the slayer power taken away from buffy so she can finally live a normal life.

?

Is it just me or does that have nothing to do with the discussion?

As they age? They probably retain the powers.

What I'd LIKE to see is either Buffy kick evil's ass, and then not NEED her powers anymore, or, when she's like, 30 or something, have them magically transferred to someone else. Then she can lead a normal life, or become a watcher.

aside: Wood's mother must have gotten pregnant at a VERY young age...

I think we're seeing some unique situations in the history of the slayers' power. There are 2 chosen ones at the same time, and that's been going on for 6 years. We just met the kid of a slayer, and that probably hasn't happened much before. I don't think there is much predcedent for slayers aging...it's an oxymoron to some extent. All the signs point to the conclusion that Buffy's expiry date is rapidly approaching (as is the end of SMG's contract) and she probably won't survive the army of turok-han pounding on the hellmouth door. The point will then be moot!

Maybe when she fights all the ubervamps and the First, the only way to defeat it would be to give up her power... that would be interesting, so she wouldn't have to age with her slayer powers. She could just be a regular woman who would age normally.

but if that happened she'd still have the instincts to help the innocents from the forces of darkness and be some what helpless... she would have to give up being the worlds champion!

I'm guessing that as she gets older (30's, 40's), her powers will start to wane like they do with most of us. This means she'll be more likely to slip up, easier to kill. I don't think she'd make it to her 80's.

When she's gets older her power will be gone little by little and when she hits an age were all her power is gone forever.

I think Buffy will live at 100 years old!

i think she should let spike bite her and the rest of the scoobies! Or she should stay alive and as a gift or if she could wish one thing it would be that Spike becomes human but still with the power and strength of a vamp... that'd be cool! (they could have little super strenght Buffy's and Spikes.. lol)

If Buffy lost her powers at a certain age like 30 or 80, don't you think that some bad guy would come along to kill her? Kind of a 'once a slayer, always a slayer' deal, and killing her would still be some sort of accomplishment. There's got to be living demons out there somewhere that would love to kick Buffy's ass for pay back or just for the hell of it.

But anyway, that'd be nice of them to explain on the show. As for Buffy living a normal life in the end... that's just something I don't think Buffy could ever do, even if she did lose her powers. She knows what's out there. I mean, look at Xander and Dawn. They have no "powers", and they don't live normal lives. I guess defining 'normal' would be nice.

If I lived in the buffyverse, and i were a demon... I'd be looking an killing slayers just for the hell of it 🙂
So even if one was say 80, i'd go and kill her to death 🙂

i think buffy'd be stronger than the average granny but not as strong as the one we see today, of course.

*wanders..* i wonder what would happen if buffy turned into a vamp.. oh sorry i got off track

Being a slayer means fighting evil stuff until you die. (In Buffy's case, until they stop resurrecting you.)

I'd say when a Slayer grows older, she is more likely to slip up at some point. While she would retain her mystical Slayer power, her body would still age and as such she would weaken. Although most likely she would be quite a good deal stronger than regular people of her own age, at some point she'd bite the big one.

It's probably a curve. Something like: reaching 18 as a Slayer is uncommon, reaching 20 is very rare, reaching 22 is almost unique, reaching 25 is unprecedented.
