I just wanted to comment on how much I loved and hated this episode. First the whole "Tell me you love me" thing...epic..and heartbreaking, but the best part was Riley seeing them naked in bed together. I got a laugh out of that one.

Didn't care too much for her pride at the end though...poor Spike..
 
I like Willow in this episode. She's so funny, trying to hate Sam for Buffy, but then ends up trading e-mail address with her!

This is not one my favorite Spuffy episodes. It really portrays their relationship as the weak one that everyone can use against the Spuffy ship.

i agree the willow thing was funny. and also, to put this all in one convienient rep, i love your new banner! very prettiful! and i like the avatar better than the one you were using before cause i always loved this scene; it was sweet! :)

I totally agree with you there... people can use this ep because it the way their relationship was depicted.. it wasnt as strong.. I thought this was my least fav spuffy ep... but the whole riley finding buffy in bed with spike...

all i can say is ha ha ha *suck it in* :silly:
 
I don't like this episode.

However, I don't think it shows the weakness of Spuffy at all. I think it shows the insecurities of Buffy and Spike.🙄
 
It proves that how Buffy sees the relationship. She asks Spike to tell her he loves her because she's upset that her last love is now married. Shes feeling insecure and, again, uses Spike to make herself feel better.
 
this isn't my fave Spuffy ep, i'll agree with everyone else that said that, but fomr some reason i don like the end, when Buffy realizes she's just using Spike to make herself feel...anything, as she herself says. When she realizes this, she immediatly ends the realtionship, which i think was the right thing to do. because it alwasy made me wonder if she actually did feel something fir Spike, and didn't wanna continue sleeping with him until she figured out what her feeling were. it gave me hope that, maybe someday, there would be a time when she could have the relationship with Spike that she wanted...and even though it only lasted a few days, she did get it in the end.

and i agree with SB...Willow was so cute in this ep...especially the bit at the end when they're watching Riley and Sam go, she's smiling, then says to Buffy 'What a bitch' or something to that effect.
 
It isn't by far my favorite Spuffy ep. I originally just wanted to comment on how funny the 'Riley' scene was. This episode is kind of a summary of their entire relationship though. Complex and needy, and indecisive. They were never fluffy and happy, or trusting. IT was always about sex, using, and someone to lean on.
 
Buffy used Spike. The Riley scene in this eposide shows that. When Buffy met Riley's wife Sam, Buffy felt the need to suppress her insecurities and hurt by going and being with Spike. Using Spike make Buffy feel secure and less hurt even if just for a little while.
 
Buffy used Spike because it was the only way she could 'feel' and I dont believe Spike makes Buffy feel secure about herself... I think it was more that Buffy was feeling insecure.. and the whole im back from the dead thing affected her.. so i think she was feeling more insecure in herself than being secure with spike.. does that make sense?
 
I really thought that the "suvolte demon eggs" thing was a big hoax, and should've been explained as such (it would've made the breakup between Buffy and Spike sadder if she'd never learned how a jealous Riley had manipulated the whole thing). Go back to the episode and look at the size of those eggs, not to mention the sheer number of them. The Suvolte would have to be the size of Godzilla to lay that big an egg, let alone that many. Also, look at what hatched out: spider-like creatures with SIX legs, while the Suvolte was only slightly larger than human sized and with only FOUR limbs. Remember Riley's threat to Spike before he left. The man was clearly of the opinion that, if he couldn't have Buffy, nobody would, despite the fact that he had, himself, at least supposedly, moved on with Sam. Sam, by the way seemed to be something of an anomoly herself: A member of a PEACE CORPS group who, after only a few months ot training, is that skilled a fighter? Give me a break!!!
 
Speaking of that, white avenger.... this is something I've always thought about. Was Spike really the Doctor? I know that the eggs were underneath his crypt, but I've always wondered about the validity of that.

Or maybe I'm just naive! 🙂

It was a frame up! I wholeheartedly agree, SB! Lets get the truth out there.:silly:
 
If we adhere to the setup theory, there didn't really bave to be any Doctor. Just some stranger (working with Riley, naturaly) who offered to pay Spike to keep the eggs until someone else picked them up. Remember, he said at the time that he was "keeping them for a friend." Quite likely, that friend was going to pay cash for the favor.
 
well if we go by the theory (that I remember discussing on another thread) that Spike never seems to lie, chances are he was in fact keeping them for someone.
