Assignment for *Charmed Slayer* and Wicked: Comics Styles.

The pictures are too dark. And most pictures of Bianca Lawson dnt look like Kendra. I thought we were going for the character here?
 
Are you guys using Photoshop, or something else? It's not too hard to pump up the brightness and contrast of even a really dark, crappy screencap.

It's Jamaica Kendra. If you look at the pics in the illustrated rendition of Kendra's story posted in this forum you get the idea. Later she will be slayer Kendra in Boston. Also we could get a little leeway, because it's an alternate reality.
 
goldenboy im using GIMP.. and im ok doing the contrast, etc. but i dont know.. sometimes.. depending on the pic.. its hard to get it clear if its dark and you dont want it blotchy when i try and make it cartoony.. its ok.. ill come up with something 😀 x

Oh, OK. Yeah, don't give up hope, thinking that a raw photo is worthless you guys. Some just take a little work.

Those Kendra pics I used in the experimental piece are from season 2...I just totally blew out the lighting and pumped up the contrast, used the spotlight filter...maybe a little too much, lol.

I was checking Bianca's filmography on IMDB...looking for other shows...not sure...
 
Yeah like Hannah said if you mess around with the contrast and levels it goes pixelly which causes problems when making it comic book like. I'll have another go later though and see what I can come up with 🙂

I wasnt sure how you wanted the others to look. Do you still want them comic book style? I wsnt sure. I made these but I should be able to make them comic book style if you need them to be.

Borders really perk those pics up, don't they? I think so anyway. Feel free to play with the borders thing.

The kendra one is so almost there. I'll still consider more options on that one though. I like the Machida one, but don't let that prevent you from attempting an alternative CS. I'm a big fan of options, and not to worry there may be ways to make use of almost everything.
 
I know this is more an assignment for CS and Wicked, but i really wanted to try out this whole comic effect thing. I used an image of Kendra. Turns out there are heaps of ways to do it. Excuse the background, i kinda rushed the rubbing out parts, but you get the idea.

Always better to have too much art, than not enough from an organizer's standpoint.

I like the top one best. Could I see it 125X125?
 
Is there a way to define Kendra's features stronger at that size?

I'm going to open this forum up, and invite submissions from all members of the Art Forum.

There are some new members arriving soon, and I want to have stuff for them to play with while I crack the whip 😉 in the writer's forum to get more material for you guys to work on.

Also we're hoping to offer a preview soon. I'm hoping for something in March shortly after the Buffy Season 8 release. I'm thinking at that time interest in all things Buffy will be renewed, and it will good to ride that wave. This index will be part of that preview.
 
I tried enhancing the features, but it doesnt really work, it gets too dark or too fuzzy. I'll have another crack at it later.

also, the first page... where at has a list of like 15 things we need.. do you want us to go off that and just keep posting 124x125 icon thingys? lol
 
Yes. The list of 15. Yes. The avatar size. These are avatars for an index. At the top of every Buffy-boards page there is a a link to an index for the Tales of the Slayer forum. If you click on that you'll get an idea of what we're shooting for. In this case though we don't want the pics to look like copy and paste we want them to look like art.

I don't know. Imagine the pics going down the page, one above the other with text beside them to form an index. Do you think we have the right Kendra pic yet to go below Faith and above Kakistos? I'm not sure. I'd like to see more.
