Astronomers Say Dates for Zodiac Signs Are Wrong

I went from an awesome Aquarius to a Capricorn. I don't really follow astrology hardcore (but will admit it's a bit of a hobby of mine), but I denounce this ruling! I will forever remain an Aquarius!

According tho this blog article thing from CNN, it's a bit more complex than "your zodiac sign has changed." http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/01/13/no-your-zodiac-sign-hasnt-changed/

This article says there are actually two sets of zodiac signs. 'Tropical' signs which are decided by the season (which the old list we were all looking at were) and 'sidereal' signs which are decided by the actual constellations (which is, of course, the new list). From what I can tell, the two used to be the same thing... but over time, since everything in space is constantly moving, they've changed. They've changed basically one month since the original list we're so used to was calculated. But as far as astrological horoscopes and such, we should all be the same. Apparently your season of birth hold more importance in your daily life than the constellations. The last line of the article I posted says it quite well:
"Astrology is geocentric. It relates life on Earth to the Earth’s environment, and seasons are the most dramatic effect, which is why we use the tropical zodiac,"

Oh, I was so proud on having found that and now I find out you found it first. :p (Have some more "found"'s!)
I'm hearing that this only counts for people born after 2009.

I hope so! If not, then I'm no longer a Gemini, I'm a Taurus. 🙁 Actually, both apply to me, lol; however, I'm still more of a gemini...

Plus, "gemini" definitely sounds prettier than all the rest! 😛

Between this and Pluto not being a plant, why do things keep changing!

Imagine how they felt when Galileo said the Earth revolved around the Sun, and not the other way around? Or when they realised that the world was not flat.

Tantrums left, right and centre! 😛

Except they didn't have the internet with thousands of different opinions! (Yeah, I don't know what I wanted to say with this either, but I wanted to throw it in anyway (sw))
I was expecting to read this and then see in the list that I was totally the opposite to my star sign as I'm right on the edge. Luckily I'm still Aquarius, although whats up with Scorpio it's only a few days long if this new star sign is really meant to be there. It looks sort of odd to me, I don't see why they need to change it all up. What was wrong with it before even if it was totally wrong?

I'm now an aquarius, apparently. I definitely have the traits of a regular Piscean, though, and will forever be Pisces.

Apparently, nothing's changed. Not if you follow the Western zodiac, anyway:

before astrology fans scrape the ink from their arms because they think they're now a Virgo instead of a Libra, they should consider this: If they adhered to the tropical zodiac - which, if they're a Westerner, they probably did – absolutely nothing has changed for them.

That's worth rephrasing: If you considered yourself a Cancer under the tropical zodiac last week, you're still a Cancer under the same zodiac this week.

That's because the tropical zodiac – which is fixed to seasons, and which Western astrology adheres to – differs from the sidereal zodiac – which is fixed to constellations and is followed more in the East, and is the type of zodiac to which the Star Tribune article ultimately refers.

Two zodiacs. That's nothing new.

Hmmm, well if this does apply to people born in my year, then I am no longer an Aries, and now a Pisces... hmmm, I'll have to read up on Pisces because I've always felt that I didn't fit the Aries profile. 😀 Never put much thought in this sort of stuff anyway, just interesting either way. 🙂

Load of horse hooey. I'm still a Libra, I don't care what they say. No way am I and my SCORPIO brother both suddenly Virgo.

I think I'm just going to start going by my moon sign or my tree sign: My moon is Gemini, and my tree is Apple Tree (the tree of love). Both of them fit me much better than either Scorpio or Libra, and with a ton less confusion to it!

Ewww, it says i'm and Aquarius now, noo!! I will forever always be a Pisces. So all these years of reading my horoscope, it's been wrong??
