What characters from the "After The Fall/Aftermath" series would you like to see in Season 9, if any?

I think that I heard somewhere that Illyria is going to show up in Buffy's books, and possibly Connor may be going to join his dad for awhile, but, beyond those two, I haven't heard anything.

I'd like to see Illyria, Connor, and Gunn. What annoys me though is that we know both Illyria and Connor will be appearing in Buffy, but nothing concrete about them appearing in Angel.

It's like they are taking the Angel original characters and giving them to Buffy. Meh. I'd rather they go to Angel's book where they belong.

I do want to see Illyria's reaction to meeting a slayer though. She'll probably be so disappointed (and rude) when she meets Buffy. lol

I also hope Connor tells Buffy who his parents are. I do hope the artist does a good reaction shot of Buffy's face when she hears the news.

I just hope any Angel/AtF characters they use stay in character; unlike when Angel regresses more and more every time he and Buffy meet.

I want Gunn to be in "Angel and Faith" so bad, it's ridiculous, even as a guest for a couple issues. I'm kind of annoyed that no one from AtS is in Season 9, Angel ran for 5 seasons and one comic season, it's established some great characters and stories...and it's just getting ignored

Yeah, it's like Whedon thinks BtVS is the only series that matters.

Did you mean, AtS ( Angel the Series) characters ( cough, cough)? Because both Connor and Illyria are the original AtS characters who are not particular to ATF. There were some new characters introduced in ATF - like Beta-George, Spider or Burge - but they are not really that interesting. Unless you miss Spider and her 'special' preferences.

If they fight over him I'm not sure Buffy would win that one. Not unless Illyria loses even more of her power.

LOL!
Illyria is stronger, but Buffy has a unique quality - protagonist privilege. So, unless losing in a fight is required for Buffy's hero journey, she'll win, power or no power.

Re: Connor. I assumed that he'll appear in the second arc of "A&F". Am I wrong?

As opposed to losing power, Illyria seemed to actually regain a good portion (at length as far as strength is concerned) of her power during the "After The Fall" arc in "Angel," and didn't lose it once they returned from Hell. Maybe the time there allowed her spirit and Fred's body to adjust more to each other or something, but even in her weakened state, Illyria was at least as strong as any Slayer, and, while Buffy might be able to call on all of the experiences of former Slayers, Illyria has had literally more time than the human race has existed to gain and perfect her skills. Get out the butter, kiddies, cause Miss Summers is almost certainly toast.

IIRC, Illyria has already met Slayers in AtF, and if I'm remembering right, she was not impressed (she's not impressed at most things LOL).

I am beyond disappointed that Angel's AtF friends won't be joining him. I've said this a million times, I sound like a broken record: Angel does not do well on his own, he needs his friends & family around to "ground" him. At least he has Faith, thankfully, but I kind of think he's too much for one person to handle right now LOL. Whedon has said that he doesn't really understand Angel, and it's proving correct. Why oh why couldn't he have gotten some of the AtS or AtF writers involved?!

Agreed, but so far "Angel and Faith" is the better season 9 book, I would much rather have change done to Buffy. I do wish David Greenwalt or David Fury were around to help with "Angel and Faith" comic, Joss just doesn't seem to have much of a passion for Angel

I really miss AI and AtS... but Joss decided to kill all Angel's friends/family, who meant a lot not only for Angel but even for the fans. And now we have Gunn disappeared in LA's suburbs, Connor (his son!) not even mentioned or remembered by the Angel appeared in BtVS s8 (for me it's a pod Angel) and in A&F, Illyria is ready to visit BtVS...

When I read about this new series -A&F- I was glad to see Faith with Angel but I dislike having him costarring in his own title and I was very very angry when DH affirmed that ' Joss really wanted to write about Illyria' and for that,of course, she has to appear in BtVS, because Joss really doesn't care about Angel. Does he care about his fans, eventually?

I want Illyria, Connor and Gunn. And Kate. The only thing is they dont really fit with the Buffy group. And I dont know a place for them on A&F, especially Kate lol. Thats one thing that I hate about there being no more Angel series. I hope after the A&F series they will bring them back. I like Angel being seperate from Buffy. I dont like the two shows mixing.

Joss's opinion seems to be: Why bother with Angel when we can just put their original characters on Buffy? Why would the fans want any different?

My respect for Whedon dropped in AtS season 5, dipped even more in Season 8, and is almost non-existent now.

If he ruins The Avengers I will hate him forever.

I agree with you, Scourge. Mine respect, too, dropped in AtS, but I'd say in s4. I hate, HATE his behavior with CC and his destruction of the character of Cordelia. And I dislike him more in s5 when he killed her and basically changed -in worst- Angel's character. In BtVS s8 my respect has had a free fall.

He saved the core characters of BtVS and destroyed almost entirely AI;he always gave a free pass for Buffy and always damned Angel; in the comics, he has completely ruined him without a comprehensible why, and now he's willing to take away the characters that belong to his story but he, Joss, is interested to.

AtS season 4 was so bad that I prefer to pretend it never happened.

I can't give you more rep, but PodAngel karma!!!! 😀

And what's really funny for me is that I am just now reading the IDW comics. I'm up to Angel Aftermath now. FTMP I have really, really, really liked them. So Joss' treatment of Angel is becoming even more unforgiveable for me.

I haven't heard the part about Joss no longer caring about Angel before, but it could be argued (I'm not doing it, just pointing it out, so don't anybody jump on me) that Angel left HIS comic back at IDW, along with his territory and all of his surviving gang. At Dark Horse, he's just the new kid on the block, not having proven himself yet, so he's lucky that they let him costar in Faith's comic. As I said from the beginning, I'm not necessarily supporting this theory, only pointing out that it exists.

Whatever the real reason, I'm glad that Faith has finally earned her own series, even if she does have to share it with "that other" vampire with a soul.

Angel proved himself for 5 seasons on his own show...what more do the people at Darkhorse want?

(Not attacking you...just pissed with the people at Darkhorse)

Being at Dark Horse changes nothing. The only thing it does is bring Angel and Buffy under one umbrella. Them not using Angel characters has more with Joss and DH being jerks than anything else.

And FYI, Spike is the "other" vampire with a soul. As he came second. 😛

Cordelia. Duh! 😉 She needs to come backkkk! Also, it's about time Buffy meet Connor. Except that, it'd be cool to have Gunn over too. 😀
