Attention All John Wayne Fans

I don't see the problem here. I mean this was actually a movie in the first place and Wayne was involved its just that because of money reasons it was put on the shelf for years. For his fans I would say it has to be a great thing, I do not include myself as a fan so don't think I will bother.
 
Worth a look BUT, come on... John Wayne in a sci-fi? I guess he would only do it if it was also a western.
 
Hate to be debby downer, but seeing as the article is from 2009 and it still hasn't surfaced something tells me it never will.

When asked how he played Genghis Khan in "The Conqueror," Wayne said, "I played him like just another gunfighter." He would almost certainly play a character in a sci-fi movie the same way.

The Conqueror is widely hailed as not only John Wayne's worst movie, but also one of the worst movies of all time.

I wasn't defending the movie, just quoting Wayne on how he played the title character. I will say, however, that, while "The Conqueror" doesn't strike me as a high point in the Duke's career, he's better as Genghis Khan than he ever was as Singing Sandy.

Regardless of how he played the title character, sci-fi is not Wayne's forte. The Conqueror was an attempt to explore other genres while retaining his screen persona, and it obviously didn't work.
 
At least this will be a real movie and not a hologram as has been suggested in another thread about Whitney Houston. John Wayne is kind of a one-dimensional character, if you have seen one of his movies, you have seen them all. And a John Wayne sci-fi? Not likely to gain much traction.
 
John Wayne is a decent enough actor, but his appeal is only limited to certain genres. Any time he tried to stretch outside his comfort zone the movies didn't do really well nor were they that good.
 
I'm not saying it would work, but if it was kinda a camp, cheesy, b-Sci-Fi then I think it would work better than if it was a more serious film.
 
The only thing sacred in Hollywood that comes to my mind at the moment is Back to the Future, which, according to the director, will never, ever, be remade.
 
Eh, it's 6 years old. I don't think it will happen. I didn't think it would happen on the other thread from a few months ago, still don't think it will happen.

No, I just meant that the dang thing was made in the first place, and has been, apparently, never actually developed for release. God forbid that it should ever see the light of day!
 
Just from the way I understand it it was made as like a 'home movie'... a friend of his wanted to make a movie and he said he would help. It would be no different than if you took a camcorder and video taped a friend for your movie.
