But your link got me curious. Bear in mind that I live on the other side of the globe, I've never even heard the chap's name. Who is he? It seemed to me that he's served his sentence and is out and about again. If we suppose that jail is actually doing anyone any good, he should be a nice and well adjusted citizen by now. Oh well. Even if I don't believe that it's all that simple, I still think that people have the right to mess up, sort the mess out and prove that they've learned from it. Do you think that he's still involved with dog fights?
Michael Vick is a football player (that's American football, not soccer) who was convicted about a year and a half ago of having a dog fighting facility on his property and having 20 pit bulldogs that were used for fighting. Dog fighting, as I'm sure that most of you know, involves putting 2 dogs, usually Pit Bull Terriers, Staffordshires, or American Bulldogs, in a ring to fight until one or the other animals is either dead or too injured to continue. In order to be trained and conditioned for this "sport" the animals are quite often beaten and given drugged food to make them more irritable. (Look on Youtube for topics concerning Pit Bulldogs and Dog Fights for videos concerning this subject, but if you have a weak stomach, don't do it after a full meal)
AS a result of pit fighting and the irresponsible handling of the dogs bred for it, combined with mishandling by ignorant owners, and a news media who doesn't know the difference between a Pit Bull Terrier and flag pole, the American Pit, Staffordshire, American Bulldog, Rottweiler, and several other breeds of dog have received in the last 20 years, highly undeserved reputations for being vicious, uncontrollable, bloodthirsty, human aggressive monsters.
It is my personal fervent hope, speaking only for myself as a former Pit Bulldog owner, that anyone who participates in an activity of this sort, should be condemned to the hottest pits of Hell and be required to beg and be granted forgiveness from each and every dog that he or any other of his colleagues have harmed from the very first dog fight up until the last one before being allowed to move move to even a slightly cooler portion of Hell. And here's the ironic part: Those wonderful, loving animals would, every last one of them, freely grant that forgiveness, totally and without a second thought. They lived their lives, and freely gave them up, with no desire whatsoever beyond serving, pleasing, and protecting the very people responsible ror their pain, disfigurement, and death.
(As you might conclude from this post, I feel very strongly about this subject. For those who disagree, please bear in mind that my answer here has been cleaned up and toned down for the sake of the younger and more sensitive members of the Board, and that I meant every single word)
