Audio books and Podcasts

Are people here into Audio books and Podcasts?

I just recently heard that there was an audio version of Tina Feys Bossypants, and had to listen to it, as I love her book and loved it even more with her reading it.

Never knew allot about Audio book, I hadn't realised so many were read by the authors (for some autobiographies anyway)

I've also only recently gotten into Podcasts after hearing Tina Fey was on Nerdist, I really like Chris Hardwick and his pod casts are great, and feature some awesome people (A good few Buffy Alum in there too!)

So anyone know any books that are good on Audio book, or listen to any podcasts regularly I should check out?

I've been listening to audiobooks since back in the 70's when I had about an hour drive to and from work. They were a whole lot more interesting than whatever was on the radio, plus, when I had worked late and was really tired, concentrating on the story would help keep me awake. My favorite audiobook authors are Steven Hunter, Clive Cussler, and, of course, Edgar Rice Burroughs, though I have listened to literally hundreds of books over the years. I've found several web sites where you can download them free, but I'm not sure that I'm allowed to post them here.

I listen to podcasts and audiobooks when I'm at work. We're not allowed to read during quiet periods, but we can listen to stuff, so I often put a podcast on.

I'm listening to Potentialcast and Redemptioncast at the moment, newbies watching BtVS and AtS for the first time and chatting about their reactions. It's great, very entertaining.

I haven't tried audio books that much but on the few things I have listen too I often find myself getting bored and very sleepy quite quickly.

Will probably try it some more but so far I think I prefer to read myself.

I occasionally listen to public domain audio books (because they're free 😀 ) but I prefer to read books. I just get distracted too easily when I'm listening to audio books, and end up not having a clue what I listened to. p

My son and I love the "Stuff You Should Know" podcasts. They are amazing.

I love Dan Carlin's Hardcore History.

I forgot to add - I prefer to listen to audio dramas or plays rather than audiobooks, I often find that the narrator reads too slowly for me to properly pay attention.

For recordings of RPG play sessions I go to rpgmp3.com, yog-sothoth.com and sometimes thewalkingeye.com

For audio books I buy the CDs and rip them to mp3 myself, but I know quite a few people who use audible.com

I travel a lot with uni so I'm always listening to audiobooks and podcasts. This year I've been going through the old Russell Brand radio show podcasts which are pretty great (except they make me laugh like a madman on the coach which can be awkward).

Last year I got through every Harry Potter book again on audiobook, there's nothing quite like having Stephen Fry read to you.
