Parts of eastern and central Australia are in the midst of a horrific heatwave, with temperatures reaching as high as 116 degrees F (46 degrees C). Alarmingly, the record-setting conditions are expected to worsen over the coming weekend. While it’s always hard to tie individual meteorological events to climate change, one can’t help but consider the role our ever-warming atmosphere is playing.

It's alright. The alternative fact is that climate change is a Chinese conspiracy so we have nothing to worry about.

Sweating just looking at that. With my fleecy pyjamas and fluffy socks on.

So happy I'm in WA, its slightly less hot here. Been really humid all day though.

Not to mention the evacuations east of Perth on the River Avon, the river is 6-7 meters from my place. 2 days ago it was 30 meters away. How many towns are cut off because of floods from the River Avon.
Melbourne has had a break from the heat for a few days now but I don't know how long that's gonna last .

Temps are measured by expensive equipment in a slatted wooden white boxes. My temp gauge is under my veranda, I've had temps over 48 degrees C (123 degrees F) if the temp gauge was put in direct sunlight it would easily get to 70 degrees C (if it could measure over 50 degrees C)

Yep, every hot day my fb calls bs, with heaps sharing photos of their gauges going up to 50c.
The humidity is more than im comfy in today. Put the air con on,now im scared to do without a big air con unit in the next house! Walking outsode is instant sweat and it was only 30c odd today. Humidity 61% but felt worse!!

Will try find more flood pics later. Pretty funny place, this oz. Brissy flooded when we were on fire

The humidity yesterday in south west WA was a killer!
The power seems to be chipping in and out though. Not surprising really

Actually, the whole global warming thing was an attempt by the Democrats, led by Dan Quayle, to try and get more votes.

But whether it is a Chinese conspiracy, a Democrat plot, a natural cyclic change in weather, or a disaster brought on by irresponsible use of pollutants and accumulated toxic waste, or even a combination of all, the fact remains that our weather has gone crazy, and we've just about passed the point where we can do much more than try and endure.

It was! Crap, I thought it was an attempt by that Trumpy poo to get people to like him.

The sun is getting hotter. I've been monitoring solar flare activity, and things have become...interesting. In fact, on the 15th NASA is predicting a rather active phase.

Why isn't this being reported? Fear of a mass panic, I suppose. It's not like we can do anything if the sun goes nova ahead of schedule.

Australia ia a big country, in every way.
These events, whilst rare, have been happening since records begun here. And in aboriginal culture before that. They are more damaging now, because there are more people spread, more people to notice or be affected.

Im sure the earths weather is changing, I am sure humans have impacted that to some degree, but I also think its too late to do much else but cope as @white avenger said. @Anyanka Bunny Killer what do you know about the ozone layer? Last I heard, it was healing? Any knowledge?

The flooding event is referred to as the 100 yr flood. Even when they come about every 50 or so. Locals in the area say its worse than in their lifetimes before. The waters havent receeded yet so no damage bill yet.

Dad sent me a photo from his yard, i'll try upload later. He backs on to the swan river and its broke its banks My previous homes were both under 2 foot water.

West coast does 40c + temps every year, ask a miner and he'll tell ya its more like 60 up north. Truthfully though, dry heat is much easier to live in.

@OccaQuokka The ozone hole was found to be seasonal...forming over Antarctica in late August/early September. Apparently, it has something to do with the sun rays returning after months of darkness.
As for healing, I'm not sure. I don't think anyone is, actually. Basically, all science is theory until it's proven...and most of what we think we "know" is still speculation.

I'm sure the aliens find us quite amusing.

I'll bet the Aliens don't have the same GPS as me Anyanka Bunny Killer, 'cos if they did they wouldn't find us again.

Can I just add- God damn, it has been so muggy the last few days in WA. I don't even find the point of trying to straighten my hair because it's not going to last long :/
