Is anyone hear an author. I have sent away a sample of my story 4 times. The first said sorry but it is not quite what we are looking for and that was Harper Collins. The next was Bloomsbury who advised me to ask a litery agent. the other two I sent ages ago have not yet replied. But what d you expect since I am only 13. I am on my 29th page and that is why I only send Samples.
 
i wanted to be a writer from the age of 9-now. but im not sure i can do it, so doctor is also on my list. but id love to be a writer so much,it's what ive always wanted 😀

I'm an author. I just free write, but I never turn anything in. I just write whatever's on my mind and when I'm finished I throw it away. I never like anything I write. and my little advice to all you writters out there.....send in your stories! if you have a talent use it! "You only get one chance in life to do something great. Most people never take that chance because they are either too scared to take it or they don't recognize it when the chance comes. So, follow your heart and you'll never go wrong, but just remember, hero's get remembered and legend's never die. Follow your heart and you'll never go wrong."-- I forget who said that....saw it in the movie 'The Sandlot'. that's a good movie by the way..

i'd love to read both of cordy and leo's work! i just cant wait! so, go send in the stories and get agents!!
 
i will try to help you the best that I can, i have been a writer (paid to write) for a little less than a year.
what you should do is send them a querry letter, usually publishing places do not like to recieve unsolicited material (legal reason). In the querry letter tell them briefly what your story is about and tell them that if they would be interested in reading the story to contact you and you will send them sample pages. Even better add a self addresed stamped envelope in your querry so they dont have to spend anything to write you back.

as for getting a literary agent i wouldnt until you actaully have someone that will pay you for your writing, the exceptions are columns and articles were the contract isnt that difficult so there is no need to spend 10% for one.

As for the ones that dont answer, sadly this is not uncommon, most editors dont bother to send you a simple rejection letter, I have had that happen more than I would care to remember.

I've had a poem published, as have a couple of my friends, when we were all 12; there was a poetry young writer's competition, so you could see if you could get into that sort of thing, competition young writing to get yourself a little noticed. Fingers crossed though people, one of my friends is the finalist in a $10,000 poetry competition, one of those readers digest things 😀 She'staking us all out to dinner if she wins, well Pizza hut anyway ::cakes::
