Avatars

As it stands now we can only have Joss related avatars, but that is not the case with othere forums. You can usually upload or hotlink whatever avatar you would like to use. If you were able to do this, would the avatar still be a Joss related or would it be something else.

As much as it pains me, I think I still would have a Joss related avatar, though it would not be one on the list.

What about you? Joss or no Joss?

If I'm on a Joss forum, I'll use a Joss av. (Well, not an actual av of Joss. Don't be dense.)

It'd probably be a Lindsey one, but just, jazzed up, y'know?

Yeah I would like to be able to upload my own, just because I don't like seeing other people with the same av as me, and I usually make my own. It would definitely stay Buffy related though 🙂

Well I'm lucky enough to be one of the few who can upload their own, mwa haha, and yeah they're often Joss-related. Although there is an occasional Meryl Streep/Dean Winchester/Mamma Mia one haha, but yes like now with my Dawnie av, it's Joss-centric. Only christmassy. 😀

I hope she does NOT take this personally, but seeing the amount of responses having only Joss characters, knowing that our fearless leader, Buffy, the ole ::bbat:: Summers, actually has a non-Joss avatar would that make you more likey to stray from the Jossverse when picking an avatar?

Well, most of the time I would pick a Joss related one. But, I would also be very tempted to upload something from other shows. I really miss HIMYM avaters on this site, they are even partly Joss related (well, a great deal of Buffy alumnis had their appearances in the show, and the creators themselves admit to being great Bufy fans).

I would still stick to a 'verse av, I think. It's just more appropriate. Possibly something 'verse related, but nothing completely random.

I like signature/icon sets, so if I were able to upload my own avatar, it'd be one that matched my current signature.

I make my own forum graphics for all the different forums I post at, and they all have to be matching sets (where possible).

Having said that, as this is a whedonverse forum, my icon would be whedon-related.

As long as it matched my sig, heh.

First of all, Buffy's avatar is Castiel from Supernatural who is both literally and figuratively heavenly in looks.

But no, whether Buffy chooses Joss or non-Joss avatar currently doesn't effect my choice- my MOOD effects my choice. Sometimes I have a Kramer vs Kramer thang on me and so up goes Mrs-Meryl Streep-Kramer. Haha. But more often than not I'm in a BtVS mood so it's mainly Jossian stuff.

And I have to find the picture before I can post it! It was from when I lived in L.A (the actual main city and not the greater area) and not Torrance so this was quite a while back and so it's not digital and it's in a photo album somewhere so when I find it and scan it in you will see it. (Essentially showing you BB's Joyce in front BtVS' Joyce's house. Weird. Haha)

You mean if it had been that way since we joined? If so, maybe, but I like having my avatar match with my sig, so it'd probably be Arrested Development-related a lot of the time. If it just became available one day, yes...I like being imagined as Willow with her hair sticking up.

thats the other thing that REALLY confused me!! Is I confused gender of the poster with the gender of the avatar. So men with women avatars and vice versa I would always gets confused. That took me a LONG time to figure out; I know when I first started I called some he's she's because of their avatars.

And I still (i am sorry for this, shempy!) sometimes forget that Shemp is female just because I always see and think Xander!

I generally choose an av that has to do with the forum, but I can't say that happens all the time. I belong to a couple boards for candlemaking and other similar pursuits and have an av I uploaded (when the board allows custom avs) that doesn't have ANYthing to do with those things...I just thought it was cute! My banners are sometimes Joss related and sometimes not. I've had Angel, Spike, House Drogyn and Buffy banners, and Jake Gyllenhaal....and Underworld. They just generally follow my whim.

If I could upload my own I'd probably switch back and forth between Buffyverse and non Buffyverse stuff depending on my mood, what I was obessing on at the moment, etc. But I know I'd always go back to to something Buffy related before too long. Thankfully though we have a really good selection and we can upload pictures to the gallery we'd like to see made into avs, thats worked out great for me so far, definately a feature I appreciate.

So... Buffy.. up until recently and for as long as I have been here you have had that one Buffy avatar; it was the biggest Buffy avatar in terms of size and carried a certain atmosphere to it; it was a rather imposing, authoritative image of Buffy. I always assumed that you chose that avatar as a representation of your control and dominance over this board. Was I correct in so doing? Even now, the avatar you have picked has the same type of qualities about it: the harsh, stern figure.

Nope, I just liked that picture when I saw it. It was sort of a classy SMG pic. I usually change my av more often but I haven't recently as much.
