At the end of the epi I felt like I had been tricked. I mean things looked like they were finally looking up for the Angel crew. So what? Angel had to imagine/dream all that to lose his soul? I'm just checking. I just started really watching Angel a month or so ago. I love it! But that episode just sort of blew my mind....anyway, just needed that clarified.

yeah I remember watching this episode and thinking that everything was too good to be true. I remember thinking when Connor helps him at the end and then he sleeps with Cordy, that this must be Angel's wet dream or something. I mean think about it, Wesley apologizes to him, Connor accepts that Cordy loves him, and the whole gang pitches in. Where's the fun in everything working out like that. As we all know it was fake and Angelus emerged. Then things got really interesting.

Yes. It seems that there are other ways to extract a vampire's soul but I loved the whole notion of making Angel fully believe the scenario and thus leading him to genuinely experience one true moment of happiness (assuming of course that that was the cause, as opposed to a side-effect).

I fell for it the first time. And the second. It's hard to articulate, but I wasn't disappointed - I found what happened to be perfectly believable, but as Mulder22 said it was a very tidy solution and what followed was much more interesting; at the end of the episode you really get this ominous feeling about what's to come precisely because you have experienced just how nice things could be for Angel and his team.

One of my favourite Angel episodes Awakening is.

i remember watching this and thinking 'YAY! everything's working out exactly as i wanted it to!! that never happens! I'm so happy...wait...'

things just seemed way too perfect. i think it was the thing with killing the Beast that really started me thinking that it was all fake. they spent so long figuring out that the Beast was too hard to kill, and then Angel and Coonor managing to pull it off so easily.

but the thing that REALLY made me think 'HA! it's a dream!' was when Angel and Cordy are in bed. if you listen REALLY closly, Angel calls out Buffy's name..after that it was sort 'well, damn'

I already knew Angelus would emerge so I was suspicious (says me who read the spoilers in sfx mag before it aired having no cable)
The evil laughter was great!

Thanks guys. Yeah I agree with you guys completely. When Angel called out Buffy's name in bed it kind of just took everything away from the fairy tale. Even after I've accidently seen spoilers for the epi's it doesn't really take away from the shock I get when another plot is discovered. Maybe that's because it's just that great of a show.

I liked the episode up until Angel says Buffy. That kinda killed it. LOL 😛

Seriously, the episode was really good. It felt like old times with the whole gang being together, helping out, and everything. When I was first watching it, I thought everything was too good to be true and it was.
