Awful to Awesome lines

So, which lines on either show are, for the most part terrible, but because of how they are said by certain characters come all the way back around to be awesome again?

I'll give a couple of examples:

Xander in 'Beer Bad': 'Nothing can defeat the penis!'
Faith in 'Orpheus': 'Arf, arf, psycho.'

It just struck me after watching 'WTWTA' (which has a few naff lines). Anyone else? Any lines that should be bad but work anyway?

Buffy defeated the penis in Doublemeat Palace.
Riley in Hush: "Well, I guess we have to talk." could have and should have been really on-the-nose and cheesy but it was said with such remorse it prevented it from being a joke line.
 
When Wesley says 'I'm going to thrash you within an inch of your life...and then take that inch!' in 'Parting Gifts, it actually gets better if you imagine Dark Wesley saying it in that emotionally deadened tone that he later develops. It could actually be a fairly sinister line.

Plus I also liked Cordelia's out-of-nowhere dorky gangster talk in 'Judgement' 'make with the chin music until he canaries' its basically the line reading and her instant embarrament at the end.

Buffy saying in 'As You Were' '...or Sunnydale will turn into the Troublemeat Palace.' and then a beat, and then unhappily saying 'I wish I'd said something else' because its a terrible quip.

Xander's accusation is ridiculous. There's nothing illogical for Olaf to force Xander choosing who to save. And it's valid twisted torture as a rewarding for Xander. I just don't get it.

But I can't help but feel funny for this line. I don't know why.

I also like that the line is repeated later on by quite a few characters. I'm certain that Buffy says it at one point. And somebody also says 'your logic is insane and not unlike that of a troll' but I can't remember who.

Agreed, its a stupid line that somehow works. 🙂
 
Willow's "Fly, my pretty, fly." in "Grave".

It's an outrageously stupid line delivered well. AH's reading had mocking, obligatory and casual attitudes all spelled out within half a second.

Basically an upgraded version of Spike's reluctant eye-rolling reciting "You've got thirty seconds to convince me not to kill you." to Ford in "Lie to Me".
 
Buffy's "Welcome to Thunderdome" from Showtime followed by Andrew's dead-serious "Two men enter, one man leaves" was really over the top.

On really I quite liked that, and I'm no Andrew fan.
Most Dracula's racist jokes are unfunny if they are from the mouth of any other people in the Buffyverse.
 
I just found that speech to be really cheesy and out of place in the finale. Well, a lot of things were out of place in the finale, but it was still a bad metaphor and I cringe every time I hear it.

Oh really? I liked the finale, can't comment on the speech because I don't remember it off the top of my head.

I liked the finale too but there were many things wrong with it. To be fair most of these problems can be chalked up to having to squeeze the culmination of seven years of quality television into a 45-minute episode. If Joss was allowed a two-part finale as originally planned I wouldn't have had as many complaints.

The cookie dough speech: "I'm cookie dough. I'm not done baking. I'm not finished becoming who ever the hell it is I'm gonna turn out to be. I make it through this, and the next thing, and the next thing, and maybe one day, I turn around and realize I'm ready. I'm cookies. And then, you know, if I want someone to eat m- or enjoy warm, delicious, cookie me, then that's fine. That'll be then. When I'm done."

I have to say that Riley's talk with Xander at the end of 'The Replacement' is actually pretty bad dialogue. The whole 'when I'm with Buffy its like I'm split in two' is really eye-roll worthy... but Marc Blucas sells it.
And even that 'but she doesn't love me' has a good bit of heartache to it, even if I'm not really invested in the relationship.
