I found these comics (1-2) and they got on my nerves so much...DB is a wonderful actor.I just don't get the people who made the stupid comics.I'm pissed off.

PS: The aim of this thread is to discuss DB's acting skills,not the idiotic comics...grrrg *Tortures and burns the comics*

Well...that also made me a little bit mad. I feel DB is a really great actor. He plays the character of Angel so well, and anything I've ever seen him in he's done an amazing job. His skills as an actor are defintely good. The second comic especially made me mad. He was amazing as Angelus. He did such a wonderful jog acting out that part.
 
man them comics are just harsh, no need for that. Well I dont think he's a bad actor, seen as Im a fan of his, I wasn't too keen in Season1 of Buffy, but he got *way* better. I've heard people saying they don't think he's a good actor, but if he was so bad I dont see why they kept him for 8years(was it 8years? not quite sure) of playing Angel/Angelus..
 
As Angel I think he is good, as Angelus I think he is brilliant, I love the way he switches. Although when I saw him in Valentine I thought he was quite wooden. I think the problem for most people is that they have only seen him as Angel, so there will always be the comparison, now that he has finished we will be able to see him in a different variety of roles.
 
Grr..I've seen them before..I really think DB's a very talented actor..He now simply needs a few good roles to prove it to the rest of the world
 
I think the way he developed his character over the 8 years he played this part shows that he's a great actor. A lot of people say SMG isn't a great actress, but I've liked all of the roles I've seen her in, however both will have a hard time leaving their roles in the Buffyverse behind. Playing a certain character for a number of years will do that.

Look at Matt LeBlanc...if you've seen Charlie's Angels you'd probably think he can't play anyone but Joey Tribbiani because that's basically what his character was. It's just that his main role for the past 10 years has been such and he's been type casted. Although I'm glad that Friends will live on through Joey, I don't think he will have much in the way of playing other types of characters.

Sorry, I did chuckle at those comics...(well just when they said 'the evil hairjealous')😛

But yea, they were uncalled for. The author has probably never seen the show and doesn't know what he is talking about. DB is a great actor and has really portrayed Angel well. As someone else said, he was absolutely brilliant as Angelus
 
If they had been funny atleast...
Anyway...Angel has never been my favourite character, but David does a great job anyway. Especially with the switching to Angelus. He was amazing as Angelus!
 
Bad actor?

hate to rain on your parade, but I enjoyed the comics. I find them rather amusing. then again, "Angel" never really did it for me. I won't say Dave is bad, but I wouldn't call it Shakespeare. James is a better actor by far. (I'm wearing knife-proof armor so fire away) all the comics are funny actually. :winky:
 
When he started off, in S1, he was a horrible actor. But you can actually see him get better and better episode by episode, up to the point in IOHEFY when, like Joss Whedon reckoned, he really is something.

The only time after that I ever had any doubts about him was in Salvage. Evil Angel went from being a brutal calculating menace to being a rather campy comic book villain who talked far too much... Which to be fair, wasn't entirely his fault. Would S2 Evil Angel really have called anybody "Faithy"?
 
I think it's a little hard to label DB as a "great actor". He is great in the role of Angel/Angelus, but we really haven't seen him in any other roles. Angel is character of very few emotions, and very little range. The measure of a great actor is the ability to take on many different and do them all well. Take Arnold. He played the role of the terminator well(because he is a robot...or at least a tool), but in any other role, and you see just how bad an actor he really is. I'm not saying that DB is a bad actor, but let's wait and see him in other different kinds of roles to see what kind of actor he really is. Same goes for SMG. Although DB has a leg up on her in that every other role I have see SMG in to date has been played absolutely terribly.
