The odds of seeing Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy again on the show this season seem worse. "I'm not banking on it," Whedon said about the rumors that she would appear.
 
I thought that it was weird that SMG agreed to do Angel this season. I would like to see Buffy on Angel but I just didn't think SMG would do it. She does seem to have a bit of an attitude.
 
Yeh I have noticed that too. Cause I kinda got the feeling from what I heard that she was sick of playing Buffy and wouldnt be doing any guest apperances till later on.
 
What has she got that will stop her filming one or two episodes this season? Scooby-Doo 2 is almost finished and I don't think she has anything else to film has she? To me it seems shes been dismissing the Buffy show since season 7 and now has just turned her back on it completly. I think she owes Joss just two episodes.
 
I agree with all of you. Yes, she should do a few eps (I don't want to see her, but other people do. Plus the WB signed Angel season 5 cause she was supposed to appear). On the other hand, would any of you really want to play 'Buffy' after how poorly her character was shown in season 7. Such a dissapointment.....
 
For the past few seasons, Buffy has been portrayed as a bit too self-involved. If she does appear for two episodes, I hope she is shown in a better light. I would really look forward to seeing Spike, Buffy, and Angel all on one screen...

You're kidding me right?...

They didn't renew 'Angel' because Buffy was supposed to appear on it. That had nothing to do with it. They renewed it because it was a good show, completely separate from 'Buffy: TVS'.

So, if anything, it would just be good storyline, as well as pleasing some fans, to bring Buffy on for a few episodes.
 
The WB didn't sign 'Angel' on just 'cause she's supposed to appear! Although 'Buffy' ending did help 'Angel' get the renewal, but I don't understand how 'Buffy' ending helped...
 
I really hope she comes...but one time I read in an interview w/ James he said that Sarah made it very obvious on the set that 7 years of the show was just about as much as she could take! She definately has an attitude! Even though she has done some movies and married FPjr, Buffy kinda started her, and it was "her" series so she shouldn't just "forget" about it!
 
We have freedom of choice in the US. It's not like she has to guest-star.

Maybe after the break from working on 'Buffy', SMG might want to reprise her role... I hope.
 
Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. Buffy made SMG a star, and now she's all cold-shoulder-y. After a few failed movies though, she'll probably love to appear on a few Angel eps.
 
I think she will return, but not just yet, maybe next season, which is fine. I mean, yes she owes Joss some IMO, but that doesn't mean she has to do when, where and what he asks her too. I can understand why she would want a break from it. And if they'll have her appear on season 6 of Angel, that's gonna be good for the ratings, so all the more chance that the WB will prolongue the contract!
 
Angel needs help his year to keep it going. You are going on about season 6 but we where lucky just to get season 5 (lucky to get 22 episodes!). How do we know their will be a season 6? If Buffy turned up on Angel this season it would bring in great ratings and would make Angel's chances of gettin a season 6 even better. Joss wanted SMG on to help Angel ratings and she has obviously said no. I think SMG does owe Joss and the whole of Mutant Enemy. They made SMG a star and it would have been great if she could of helped out Angel this year. It's not like she has some big movie that will keep her from filming an episode.
 
Why are u ending this for me! 🙁 I am still going through major buffy withdrawal!

Exactly what I was thinking...then I read your post. She might not have any projects in line after her current ones, but she does have a pretty new husband and perhaps she needs to focus on her own personal life for awhile.

I would luv to see her show up in Angel this year, but will understand and accept if she doesn't. Provided the writers still make it good...............

I came across the Sept. 29, 2003 issue of Us Weekly. On page 30, an article has this to say about Sarah and Freddie; Freddie Prinze Jr. is working on a movie for MTV and Sarah plans to make an appearance on the Buffy spinoff, Angel, this season next year. This is an issue that came out weeks ago, so thing may have changed since then.
