Bad News About SMG's Apperance On Angel This Season

You're kidding me right?...

They didn't renew 'Angel' because Buffy was supposed to appear on it. That had nothing to do with it. They renewed it because it was a good show, completely separate from 'Buffy: TVS'.

So, if anything, it would just be good storyline, as well as pleasing some fans, to bring Buffy on for a few episodes.

Yeah I meant what SlayerAngel said. SMG appearing on Angel HELPED the show get renewed. just didn't make myself clear enough by sorta saying something totally different.
 
I think it might be interesting if SMG did a guest stint, but I'm glad it won't be any time too soon.

These characters need to become established within the new season in their own right. Their changing relationships within W & H - and with Spike.

Buffy coming in now would throw a WONKY BAD curve into the mix.

Yes, they (Angel and Spike) both have a strong Buffy connection, but they are not (or at least SHOULD NOT be) Buffy dependent.

The show has the potential of staying on the air for an additional season based on it's own merits - not whether or not SMG decides to grace us all with her presence.
 
I would be glad if Buffy does not appear on Angel, it would just ruin the show.
I mean Angel is trying to have a new life in Wolfram and Hart and it would just so ruin it if Buffy decided to pop in.
Also it would ruin his relationship with Cordelia as he still loves her.
Plus is there actually a need for her appearing into Angel?
Think about it , Buffy was in the episode I Will Remember You because Angel was following her in an Buffy episode and also Willow was in Orpheus because she had to bring give Angel his soul back.
There is always a need for a character to come.
They do not just pop in out of nowhere.
(Well unless you are Eve)
 
I wish she would guest star. But yeah, I kinda got the feeling too that it was going to her head. But I still wish she would.
 
IMO, if she owes anybody anything, it's us--the fans. But then again, she really doesn't owe anybody anything. As much as I hate to say it, playing Buffy was just a job. The show has ended and more importantly, her contract has too. She's free to do whatever she wants. I've heard several rumors about SMG, some of which may be true, others totally bogus. (like not wanting to continue with Buffy after season 5, hated doing OMWF, couldn't wait till series was over, bragging about her life outside Buffy, acting like a diva on the set, etc.--basically resenting doing Buffy for so long) If most of these were true, she probably will not be appearing on Angel. But I have a feeling that she will and a lot of these rumors were taken out of context or just flat lies. Either way, I think Angel is a great show with or without her.
 
It's weird b/c reading all the posts about this issue, and having also heard the rumors that Slayer007 mentioned, kind makes me a bit disapointed. On one hand I do agree that Buffy was just a job, yet I also very much agree that it was BtVS (Joss etc...) that really made a celebrity out of SMG. I guess when I first started to love the show, one reason I loved Buffy so much was b/c I felt that the actress who potrayed her was a down to earth girl who hadn't let this whole hollywood thing go to her head - someone who was nice to others etc... I guess realizing, and noticing in some interviews etc.. that she does have a bit of an attitude, kinda taints that ideal that I held her too. No one is perfect (I know I have tonnes of faults! haha), so I guess it really wasn't fair of me to place that "ideal" upon her. But I guess being in a job that puts you front and center in the media etc... kinda brings that along with it - you're fans are going to kinda scrutinize you and such.
I think I've gotten off topic and rambled a bit here. I hope that made sense!

Joss: Yes, I have. And so has David [Boreanaz]. She's always been very open to the idea- she's probably the busiest of all, but she's talked to [WB entertainment president] Jordan [Levin] about it. She's someone who's said from the start, "If I have the time, if the schedule is there, we'll do it, count me in." We're hoping she's available, oh, sweeps time. But we can't control that--neither can she.


Were you suprised that Buffy was brought to an end?
I wasn't surprised. I kind of saw it coming. The time was right. I'm sure that Sarah [Michelle Gellar] came to a very peaceful feeling inside that, "Yeah, this is the time." Of course everyone is going to bash her because they've got nothing better to do. She's going through a very strange period with that, but she's a strong girl and a really good actress, and I'm sure she'll get through it. It's a transition time for her, but she'll be fine.

You ended up guesting in the last two eps of Buffy. What was that like and why did you decide to do it?
David: It's something that, for me, was really for the story and for Sarah. Buffy is how it all started for me. I'd do anything for Sarah. Doing the show is how I got my start, as far as the character was concerned. In terms of the story, getting the two characters back together was important for the fans. They were waiting for it. I think there was another story to be told. Hopefully, Buffy will come and see Angel next season on our show. You never know where these things will lead. It would be nice to have her on Angel, so I'm just putting that idea out there.

She's Busy!!!! Just what I've been thinking all along. I feel that if she had the time, then she would be a guest star on the show. It's been stated as that for months, even before the Buffy Finale in May.

But considering, she is doing Scooby Doo2 (who knows when that will end?) and I've heard of other movies that she was maybe doing, so, she's an actress with a busy schedule.

I don't thinks he owes anybody anything. As we know it, Buffy has gone to Europe (thanks Angel!), trying to live her own life now. There really is no point for her to come to LA to see Angel. (or Spike)

It would be nice to have her and other guests stars from the show as well. We'll just have to see.

I certainly don't think that Buffy's character was "poorly" shown during Season 7. She had her flaws, but she seemed a hell of a lot more mature than she has in past seasons.
 
I've never been one for love-triangles, and it seems we have enough of them on "Angel" all ready this season. Throwing Buffy into the mix, even for one episode, makes me roll my eyes. I want to see Spike not being all love-sick and puppy-eyed. Maybe a Buffy appearance later wouldn't be so bad, but one right now is not what the show needs.

I agree with that. I think she became more real b/c it showed her 'human' side - away from the super strength and the fact that she always had to be strong b/c she was the one with all this extra weight on her shoulders b/c she's the Slayer. It showed a side that was vunerable and reaching out for help - trying to find her way. Yet also trying to stay in control with all the craziness around her.

Thanks for the post about the comments from Joss and David - it was good to hear their side of things. Yeah I guess she probably is very very busy (aren't we all!? lol!) I personally would be interested in seeing any of the BtVS gang on Angel. Just kinda keeps the ties there, ya know?

I personally think that when Angel finally gets on in his life, they throw Buffy in to the mix. I say, leave it alone and let SMG be. If she don't wanna do it. She doesn't have to, and I don't wanna see Buffy. Let them move on.

According to David Fury's webmistress, Allyson, Sarah Michelle Gellar will not be appearing in the fifth and current season of "Angel." No further information is available at this time, but we will continue to keep you posted as the news develops.

Come on! I want to see her be a cookie and choose between Angel and Spike, though Joss probably wouldn't allow that. She could at least make 'em jealous!
