Bangel and spuffy debate

ok I have one more thing to say! Although they did come to an understanding, I think it would be too hard for any person to move on with someone who tried to rape them! In the end she would would only become paranoid and it would tear them both apart!

yes, at first she was pretty cautious around him (eg: beneath you) but as the season progressed she didn't look too paranoid to me. Buffy specifically seperated pre-soul and post-soul Spike as different beings - she specifically told Wood that he was seeking revenge on someone who doesen't exist anymore.

Just like real relationships, they have their good or bad points.... they have their uses at the time and so much can be learnt about one's self whilst in a relationship with someone

But again, I say that just because there is love involved doesn't mean it lasts forever.... life is life. Love doesn't conquer the day and make all ends meet, and Buffy is special for showing that. Love between two people in an aspect that can be experienced in life (or in death in Angel and Spike's cases hehe), love isn't a means to an end.

It's a shame that so many people are stuck in this struggle to find the 'one' or hope for completion when they find someone they love. However romantic it is... it just won't work.

I love Spike. He is one of the best characters on the show and a joy to watch but Bangel is THE relationship as far as I am concerned. The love they had for one another was unconditional and if they hurt each other it was never intentional. That cannot be said for Spuffy, they wanted to hurt each other, they fed off it. How can that be a good thing? A lot argue that Spuffy had passion that Bangel did not. Well it's true they were passionate in a depraved, destructive, kinky sex sort of way. Bangel was just as passionate if not more, it was jut that due to the curse we didn't get to see too much of it. What we did see was real, fire in the belly-I-can't-keep-my-hands-off-you passion i.e...beaucoup de smoochies in grave yards, Surprise and IWRY. Anytime Buffy and Angel were together it was love, pure and simple, that can't be said for Spike and Buffy. In Selfless Buffy says about Angel 'I loved him more than I will ever love anything in this life'.She NEVER shows anything as strong as an emotion as that for Spike. He never made her happy. When Bangel were together, she was happy most of the time, she was a better person herself. She lost something whe he left and she was never the same after it.

For me this is one of the hardest questions asked within the BuffyVerse, because both couples were great, but they were both different. Personally I like Cangel (Cordy and Angel), so I'd prefer Spuffy, but Bangel is so beautiful. This question is to hard for me. But if I had to pick *Mutters Einee Meanie Mini Mo* Spuffy 😛

Yeah, I never liked Buffy and Angel. Then again, maybe because it all seemed so "superficial, on the surface, the world might end highschool" type deal. So, I suppose it does have it's place since she was in highschool. Personally, I liked him better when he was Mr. Man Of Mystery. Like Batman.

I prefer Spike.

Angel has this really irritating habit of trying to control the ones he loves. When they fail to meet his ideal, he stops loving or respecting them. He leaves Buffy - voluntarily and without giving her a choice in the matter - as a means to force her "into the light." He wants her to be a happy girl, a happy mother, a woman who walks forever in the sunlight, but he completely ignores who she is -- and that's the much messier Slayer. He stays on the periphery of her life. He loves her from afar. But it never occurs to him that instead of trying to force her to change to suit his ideal version of what she deserves, he could change himself to try and give her what he thinks she deserves. He sees leaving Buffy as a noble sacrifice. The problem is that none of this has as much to do with loving or respecting Buffy as it has to do with Angel trying to mold the world to suit his own self-image. Angel has got some serious control issues that undermine all of his relationships, not just this one. If it weren't for the curse, I'm willing to bet that those control issues would still undermine his relationship with Buffy. Basically, they faced the worst in only one partner and found out that they couldn't make it. And Angel has never been open to the idea that there might even be a "worst" to Buffy. I don't know how that relationship could ever last once the euphoria wears off. And no sex? Definitely a barrier.

Now let's look at the competition. Spike, post-soul, respects Buffy. He fights on her side because he's seen the best and worst in her and he loves the complete package. He does this without the expectation of anything in return. He is cautious about growing closer to her. Because it was so disastrous the first time, he is afraid of going there again. He loves and respects her no matter what, even with all of the bad blood between them, even when everyone else fails her, and even to the death. Spike goes in with his eyes open. He doesn't try to make her what he thinks she should be. He doesn't balk too much at the Angel thing. It's part of Buffy. It's her past. He respects it. Basically, he tries to make himself into what she needs and deserves. For him, she's the one. It's all about what he can do for her, not how she can change or grow to fit into his neat little worldview. In the end, they fought side-by-side and supported one another emotionally. Given time, that could have grown into a very successful partnership. They've faced the worst in each other. They did it together. They came out stronger. They've proven they can last when times are tough. And the sex? Smokin'. Definitely a bonus.

Personally, I liked him better when he was Mr. Man Of Mystery. Like Batman.

Actually, I'd agree with that too (except for maybe the Batman part 😛). Angel at the very beginning was dark and mysterious and not so "whipped puppy" or broody. When Bangel came into fruition he lost that cool detachment thing he had.

I guess though, that's the whole point of the story.

To me, Buffy/Angel will always be the better relationship. Its the one I prefer. I just couldn't get into Buffy/Spike as a couple, the whole violence and sex relationships aren't healthy. And Season 7 Spike/Buffy I was just bored by. Buffy/Angel will always be my first choice because it was the relationship I liked the most, but I don't hate every guy Buffy is with. I liked Riley just fine and liked their relationship. It all just comes down to me not seeing anything worth interest in Spike/Buffy. I liked them better as rivals. Spike's character had more fire in him and was more interesting when he wasn't with Buffy.

Season 7 spuffy BORED YOU are you completely oblivious to the caring relationship noone absolutly noone should ever call spuffy boring people who think that are imo are to closeminded to see the beauty of there relationship yes it hard and painful
Okay, maybe not exactly like Batman, but he did have a habit of popping up out of nowhere, fighting and then disappearing into the darkness. With that talk dark Bruce Wayne "I'm going to stand cooly in the corner and watch someone else bask in the glory" thing too.

Maybe I just like Batman too much. I can't help it. My mother went out with Adam West at one point. Not at any IMPORTANT point. From what I hear, he was just a young nerd then. But, you know, with different timing (or perhaps some forethought on my Mother's part) Batman could have been my Dad!

Ok it wouln't let me continue my rant at mirage so i'm posting it here Season 7 spuffy BORES YOU? are you completly oblivous to the caring relationship that's blooming in season 7? noone absolutly noone should ever call spuffy boring people who think that are in my honest opinion to smallminded to seethe beauty of thier relationship yes it's hard and painful but most importantly it's also very real i mean my gfod angel and buffy were a fantasy it was to fairytale land to be as real (with the exeception of angelus's return) and RILEY RILEY???? are you completly insane? he was a pain in the ass that was too insecure to be able to handle a real women and yes i'll say buffy didn't love him completely but that was no excuse for him to get suck jobs of vampire whores and then give buffy an ultimatum

Excuse me for having my own opinion. Unlike you though, I'm not gonna give you a negative rep for having your own opinion. I find it a little funny that you start a Bangel/Spuffy debate then get all heated and attack people personally just because you can't handle others having a different opinion than yours. Honestly, your comments were uncalled for. I didn't attack you personally when you called Bangel kinda lame and said there was no passion in them. If you can't handle another person's opinion maybe you shouldn't have started a debate.

And yes, I'm well aware that Riley made a mistake with those vampires. Thats something I've looked past, just like people look past Spike's attempted rape on Buffy. All 3 guys have made mistakes with Buffy.

I'm just not interested in Spike/Buffy as a couple. And I've tried to get into them, I've given them a fair chance. I just don't like them together.
