Bangel or Spuffy? #2

Status
Not open for further replies.
Neither. Bangel is melodramatic and sappy, based on teenage emotions and not a real knowledge of who the other person is. Spuffy is unhealthy and icky. The characters apart are awesome, but together they bring out the worst in each other--Buffy's uptight, bitchy, judgmental attitude and Spike's abusive and controlling tendencies.

Now Fuffy...there you have the potential for angsty, hot lust and sweet romance where they understand each other on another level. It would never be a boring as Bangel or as creepy as Spuffy.

If Buffy is all light then what the hell was her S6 arc about?

Neither has Angel.

Angel was able, as a human no less, to out-stamina a slayer. That's pretty much all the confirmation I need about his sexual prowess. Would Spike be able to do the same? How would we even know if the sex between Buffy and Angel would stay vanilla as you call it? Whedon never allowed them to go there, they flirted with it during the Angelus arc but the show was too young to go the darkness route at that point. Besides didn't Buffy and Angel have sex through a mountain, in space and buttom of the ocean? Far from vanilla that.

Of course he wouldn't. Guy is incabable of standing on his own to feet. He always needs Buffy's skirt or Angel's duster to hang on to.

Except when he fault people for saying or doing the same things he does and calls them idiots. Or when he shoves responsibility for his deeds on everyone else.

Angel killed Ms. Calendar, Buffy's friend, Giles gf, pretty unforgivable. Her S6 darkness arc was directly connected to Spike. Buffy and Angel's crazy comic sex was still kinda vanilla in my opinion. I didn't hate that part of the comic, like it seemed right, but not realistic in the long term sense. I get that Spike wasn't originally meant to be Buffy's "soul mate" and so the unbreakable connection between her and Angel is inevitable. I just prefer Spike because I think he proved himself, flaws and all. He beat Angel in a fair fight in Season 5 of Angel, he actually fought for a soul, fought to be a better man, and Angelus hates Buffy. I guess I just tend to root for the underdog.

Angel was a teenage girl's first crush and her first lover. Everyone who followed after him will have to be measured by the "Angel" yardstick. That's what makes first loves so special and so important. It took Buffy up until Season 7 to realize that truth, along with the fact that he is, unquestionably, as dull as a table lamp.

Spike, on the other hand, was always interesting, even when they were trying to kill each other. Interest turned to acceptance, acceptance to trust, trust to friendship, and friendship to love, even if it took all the way to Season 10 for them to both admit it. Finally, the only one left in denial that Spuffy is real is the guy who is still dull as a table lamp.

Hands off my Angel!
Angel killed Ms. Calendar, Buffy's friend, Giles gf, pretty unforgivable.
Angelus killed Ms. Calendar. The topic is Bangel vs. Spuffy. Not Bangelus vs Spuffy.

Her S6 darkness arc was directly connected to Spike.
Her S6 darkness was directly related to her ressurection and the issues she had with that. Spike was just one vehicle through which she expressed it. Had nothing to with Spike himself except for the part where he mentally and emotionally abused her to keep her depressed.

Buffy and Angel's crazy comic sex was still kinda vanilla in my opinion.
What exactly is the definition of vanilla and non-vanilla? A pair of handcuffs, some BDSM? What? Sex is sex...as long as it's fun and makes you feel good what does it matter whether it's 'vanilla' or not? But I'll take vanilla any day over Buffy looking like a dead fish while Spike is rotting away between her legs next to a dumpster. And I especially take vanilla when it means the guy doesn't make her feel like crap afterwards.

He beat Angel in a fair fight in Season 5 of Angel, he actually fought for a soul, fought to be a better man, and Angelus hates Buffy. I guess I just tend to root for the underdog.
He beat a depressed Angel. It's not hard to hit a person when they are already down. And that was the only time he ever won a fight againt Angel. Human Angel kicked Spike's ass twice afterwards. Hell puppet Angel kicked his ass. He didn't fight for his soul to be a better man, he wanted his soul to get into a girl's pants.

I just prefer Spike because I think he proved himself, flaws and all.
How did he improve? Has he found a way to be able to provide for himself? Does he have friends and family of his own? Does he train or read to become a better evil fighter? Does he have missions or goals of his own aside from Buffy?

I think it takes Buffy's power away to claim " Spike emotionally abused her to keep her depressed." I think she was depressed and made big girl choices on how to deal with that. Spike could never control Buffy. Some people might even find what Buffy did really relatable (maybe they didn't die themselves but dealt with death). A lot of times a persons romantic choice reflects there emotional self. Buffy wanted to feel something, she chose Spike for that. Spike allowed her to explore her own darkness. Joss likes to play with metaphor, I think that's obv here.

it's Spuffy for me and always will be

Angelus killed Ms. Calendar. The topic is Bangel vs. Spuffy. Not Bangelus vs Spuffy.

neither bangelus vs spuffylus
it's too convenient to dismiss bad things unsouled angel did while considering those done by unsouled Spike

that was... Spikelus

How did he improve?
think the quote was 'proved himself' not improved? But yeah, he improved all right. He went from an unsoulde vampire whos hobby was to hunt slayers to a souled one who fight at a slayer's side. Best improvement of all the buffyverse.

Has he found a way to be able to provide for himself?

he always did

Does he have friends and family of his own?

family? a 100 years old vampire? hardly lol
friends, he's good on his own doesn't really need them because not everyone needs friends. but yes he has and the best part is that they are the same that hated him in the past. xander being the first and that show how much he improved

Does he train or read to become a better evil fighter? Does he have missions or goals of his own aside from Buffy?
training and reading? yeah I heard he's going to school every morning 😀
missions and goals he's been on his own in s8 and 9, now he works on Buffy's side like a lot of couples do. This just proves that he's not the kind of man who can't accept to be second to a woman

Let's not forget that what Angel did to Buffy as Twilight beats Angelus's evil deeds... And Spike is working with the SF police.
Always bangel. Because they share an understanding, a burdened journey which they didn't ask for, but an ultimate goal they will always fight for. Angel and Buffy know how hard it is to fight the good fight every single day, and have lost so much from it, but they keep fighting, not for themselves, but for the world, and that is a connection Spike simply cannot touch, nor share with Buffy. And, well, I love both characters a lot, and to me they seemed to have the most passion and were the most happy (which didn't work out too well for them lol) with each other out of all the other romantic relationships they held. And after all they both have gone through, they deserve that happiness.

"They're both champions. They connect whether in the middle of a battle, an argument or at the height of passion."

I'm not taking any power away from Buffy. But it's pretty clear that a well adjusted, mentally stable Buffy would have never let Spike touch her. Not even re-written Dawnverse Buffy. And they have made it pretty clear that Spike knew just what to say in order to keep her depressed so he could get his jollies. But then that's what abusers do and Spike was the metaphor for the abusive boyfriend in S6.

neither bangelus vs spuffylus

Way to contradict yourself. So Angelus's deeds count against Angel but Spike's don't count against souled Spike. Typical.

That's only if you believe Whedon's party line of 'soul quest'. I'll go with James Marsters who said chip-ectomy. And even if he went to get a soul it had nothing to do with becoming a better person/man and all to do with the girl.

family? a 100 years old vampire? hardly lol

I was obviously talking about later years not when he was sired. And no they aren't his friends. They are Buffy's, always have been. Since I don't read the comics I go by the shows and all his 'friends' were either Buffy's or Angel's.

training and reading? yeah I heard he's going to school every morning 😀

You might want to dial it down a notch with your tone, just saying. Obviously I wasn't talking about school. But Riley trained as a soldier. Angel trained both physical and in regards to knowledge. Spike is always just...there. He doesn't have to do much of anything since the writers just hand it to him. That will never work for me.

? But I'll take vanilla any day over Buffy looking like a dead fish while Spike is rotting away between her legs next to a dumpster. And I especially take vanilla when it means the guy doesn't make her feel like crap afterwards.?

Haha love this! Also - very true. What a gross scene.

Buffy: I killed Angel. Do you even remember that? I would've given up everything I had to be with - I loved him more than I will ever love anything in this life and I put a sword through his heart because I had to.

I don't believe Buffy's feelings for Spike could ever live up to how she felt for Angel - even if she wanted it to.

She's saying that in early season seven and there's development to go on from there. Besides unlike a lot of Bangels I don't like believe love is exclusive or a hierarchy Buffy will always love Angel in some way and she'll always love Spike.
Way to contradict yourself. So Angelus's deeds count against Angel but Spike's don't count against souled Spike. Typical.

Nope, no contradiction there. We can compare all you want and count all the deeds you like, Spike wins always. That was a joke. Thought it was obvious but I keep forgetting that not everyone has humor. So, I apologize

Typical of who? Pretty sure we don't know each other

I go with neither, I just go with the show but either way I don't care. Even if Spike did it only for Buffy, he still improved

I was obviously talking about later years not when he was sired. And no they aren't his friends. They are Buffy's, always have been. Since I don't read the comics I go by the shows and all his 'friends' were either Buffy's or Angel's.

yeah I wasn't talking of when he was sired either. and yes they are totally also his friends. It happens that people and couples 'exchange' friends, doesn't make them less friends. In the comics Xander and Spike are even sharing an apartment now, they are best buddies.

nothing wrong with my tone, may be you are too sensitive? Obviously I wasn't talking about school either. Was another joke and I honestly thought you were joking as well because... sorry, I just think it's funny

Well Buffy looked like she rather be dead. Either that or she was going over her grocery list in her head.

Spike fans, obviously. And yes it was a contradiction on your end. You said Angelus bad deeds count against Angel and shouldn't be easily dismissed. The you said what happened in S6 was Spikelus. Contradiction right there. Either it counts against both or neither.

Even if Spike did it only for Buffy, he still improved
How did he improve? When he ran back to Buffy despite what he did to her at the end of S6? When he blamed S6 on Buffy? When he murdered people? And no the trigger excuse doesn't work there since he could control himself fine to stop killing Buffy. Or was it when he was a major asshole to the son of one of his former victims and then put her skin, I mean coat, back on? Or was it when he blamed 120 of murder, rape and torture on Angel? Or that time he actually used the words 'putting it to her' in regards to him and Buffy in S6? Which is both disrespectful and disgusting considering Buffy was depressed and weak at the time.

yeah I wasn't talking of when he was sired either. and yes they are totally also his friends. It happens that people and couples 'exchange' friends, doesn't make them less friends. In the comics Xander and Spike are even sharing an apartment now, they are best buddies
Eh don't care about the fanfiction. I don't read the comics so I go by the show canon. Comics aren't my kind of fan fiction (to quote Whedon). Spike didn't have friends in the show, not even Dawn. As soon as he got between Buffy's legs she was nothing to him.

nothing wrong with my tone, may be you are too sensitive? Obviously I wasn't talking about school either. Was another joke and I honestly thought you were joking as well because... sorry, I just think it's funny
Ok then. How is Spike providing anything in terms of rent, repairs, food, booze and cigarettes? From what we have seen in the show he took money from the scoobies, mugged people, kitten poker, trafficing demon eggs. Don't see anything of substance which means he was just mooching off of Buffy's and Angel's family and friends.

Buffy and Angel are true love, overly romantic, but as Buffy responds to spike it's a consuming love 'until there's nothing left', which under normal circumstances would have been fine for a slayer.

Spike and Buffy are the more traditional, albeit boring, variety, i.e. from this point on in the comics version of their story, they've a more generic version of a romance ergo I hate you, I love you, you're a dick, no you're a dick, why can't you, why can't you, bla bla bla Love you, ok

Spike fans, obviously.

so, if I'm 'Spike fans' what this makes you? Spike haters?

And yes it was a contradiction on your end. You said Angelus bad deeds count against Angel and shouldn't be easily dismissed. The you said what happened in S6 was Spikelus. Contradiction right there. Either it counts against both or neither.

nope, again. that was a joke, again. I apologize, again. will never ever make jokes with you, k? and you can count what you want. Or not, whatever

when he burned on the Hellmouth, when he refused the necromancer offer, when he chose to save Fred instead of himself, when he fought with the fang gang in ats

Eh don't care about the fanfiction. I don't read the comics so I go by the show canon. Comics aren't my kind of fan fiction (to quote Whedon). Spike didn't have friends in the show, not even Dawn. As soon as he got between Buffy's legs she was nothing to him.

eh don't care what you go by. comics are canon and are part of this forum

Ok then. How is Spike providing anything in terms of rent, repairs, food, booze and cigarettes? From what we have seen in the show he took money from the scoobies, mugged people, kitten poker, trafficing demon eggs.

that's the demon's way of taking care of their needs. what, you expect a unsouled vampire to work as a clerk?

Don't see anything of substance which means he was just mooching off of Buffy's and Angel's family and friends.

when unsouled? yeah, may be. except for the 'Angel's family and friends' because there is no one there who's angel's family or friend. and only in season 4 and 5. in season 6 who would give him money? Giles? he was gone. Buffy? she hadn't enough for herself.
Souled though it's another story and like gite63 pointed out now spike is working with the police. and with the scoobies of course.

None of the quotes have the name in this part of the thread - that's what is driving me insane.
