I'm making this its own thread instead of posting to the Bangel VS. Spuffy thread because this isn't really a debate, I just want to see a Bangel shipper's reaction to this video.

I think this video pretty much sums up what us Spuffy shippers see. As a Bangel shipper, how do you feel about this? Do you agree with what is shown in this video?

Well all I can tell you is what I see in the video.

It starts with Angel and Buffy, and you feel all the tragic emotions associated with their story. And then when the Spike parts start playing, it feels like the person who made the video is saying (though clearly from their name this is not true) that Buffy is using Spike as a poor substitute for the love she lost with Angel. The Buffy and Angel parts of the video are heart-wrenching where the Buffy and Spike parts just are not. It's quite sad actually, as if Spike is loving someone who clearly will never love him back.

That's what I got out of it.

🙂

I actually totally agree. Even as a Spuffy shipper myself, I agree that the video really shows how Spike was all the things that Angel wasn't, but Buffy just didn't see it.

Haha, well you said that it showed Spike loving someone who didn't love him back, and I agree with that, but of course I'm a Spuffy shipper so I added that he was everything Angel wasn't, hehe. 😛

I loved the video. The Bangel scenes were all ones where true emotion was showing. And true/raw emotion was a big part of the definition of Bangel. Yes, the Spuffy scenes were touching and the video made it look like Spike was better than Angel, but in reality he was just different. And the time that took the Spuffy relationship to develop was so much longer than the Bangel relationship that of course Spike had to prove himself when Angel didn't.

Both men where fondamently(sp??) good. But where Angel was showed as the good guy from the beginning, Spike didn't even know he had it in himself. His entire time on BtVS is his road to redemption. So it would be hard to make a video (especially a Spuffy one) where it doesn't show how he became good and how Buffy slowly realized she could lean on him.

But in the end, she never really loved him like she loved Angel. It was another kind of love that just wasn't as raw and emotional. And no matter how many videos like this one I might watch, this will never change.

I'm with Darla, I see a vid where Spike supposedly fills all the voids for Buffy left by Angel, but she never returns Spike's feelings. She never cares for Spike because he is Spike. She has never gone to him for him, but for what he can give her. I don't think she doesn't see what he does to be close to her, I just think she doesn't feel it towards him. Kinda like how she was with Riley, to be honest.

I'm sure all the Spuffies will love hearing that, but yeah, that's what I get from this (and the ship in general).

Selective memory, here is what I see in this video. The vidder has removed all the (many) moments of violence from interactions between Buffy and Spike and would have us believe that the love of Buffy and Angel was a love abusive, but we know that this is not true. Selective memory, nothing more than this ..but congratulations, the video (technically) it's done right.

Its a great vid, I just dont think it shows the reasons for why Angel says some of the phrases... So it seems like the words are a bit twisted to fit the Spuffy purpose.

Its a great vid, but doesnt do much to pull me to the spuffy side 🙂

I think the video shows everything that Buffy doesn't see, or maybe doesn't want to see. She doesn't want to be with Spike because he's a "monster" because he doesn't have a soul. And yet, this video shows all the good that Spike is that Buffy barely took the chance to notice.

Sorry if I post here as Spuffy but I was curious. 🙂 Pretty nice video with many emotions. Very nice to watch but impossible without getting sad and happy. Very cool!

The video is kinda heartbreaking, but is biased 😀 and I'm not talking from a non Bangel nor Spuffy point of view 🙂

To be honest, to me this is just another Spuffy fan video that doesn't really evoke much feeling or emotion. It's clearly bias, as so many lines and scenes were taken out of context in the creators attempt to make their point. The intro to the video was well made.

I think the video is on to something with the whole unrequited love thing on Buffy's side. However, I don't think that is because of what she doesn't see when it comes to Spike; but rather because of what she does see.

Agreed. It's a Spuffy vid for Spuffy fans. It doesn't ring true to my eyes, and it certainly isn't the story that I saw happen on screen, but that is sort of the point: it's not supposed to be.

Technically speaking, it is a really lovely vid, with some gorgeous editing.

🙂

I will be a Bangel shipper forever 😀 but that video was beautiful and really well put together! 🙂
