Well, I believe that the main reason for Spuffy fans saying that Spike is the "Only vampire" that understands Buffy is because he's seen her dark side and her light side, and he's been more than just a lover/boyfriend to her... If that makes sense. 🙂 Like, Angel has never really seen Buffy at her ultimate low like Spike has. (And they couldn't have a crossover since Angel was busy being the star of his own show...)

I'm a firm believer that Angel, given the chance, would have understood Buffy in a way not ever Spike did/appeared to because Angel lived his own version of S6 during season 2 of his own show.

I've said it many times before but nothing will dissuade me from believing that Angel wasn't the person that Buffy really needed when she returned.

But anyway, what are you guys all thinking about Buffy #34? :dramaqueen:

I think we should be careful with spoilers in this thread. I haven't read the issue yet but from what I've heard there are certainly some startling moments.

In saying that, I can't forsee a future where I won't love/adore these characters and ship this ship. Fandom isn't making it easy at the moment because there is just so much negativity about what's happening but in Bangel I trust, whatever this season throws at us we'll be good, just like we always have been.

definitely agreed about AtS s2/ Buffy s6. Even the phrases he used resemble hers...they both want to feel something...anything

Yeah, I've always found those two season to be awfully similar... Except, you know, the causes were very different. 🙂

Personally, I don't think that anything but time could have healed her pain, but I guess we'll never find out. 🙂

Yeah, me neither, but I've talked to people that have, and... Well, that's just say that throwing the comic at the wall and then burning it were some popular post-reading events. 😉

Hm, knowing Joss though... Well, who knows? Maybe he'll surprise us. But I'm not sure how he can explain this one, it would take years for all the crazyness off the past to be forgiven (by the fans)...

But whatever, I'm glad that you have faith in your 'ship. 🙂 Me? I think that I've given up on Buffy-centric 'ships, they're losing their appeal to me...

I dunno, I guess that the idea of her "Needing" to end with a man (or a woman) in the end is a bit ludicrous to me. As the Princess Diana quote goes, "Some people think that at the end of the day that a man is the only answer [to fulfillment]. Actually, a job is better for me." 🙂

I find that Buffy and Angel's lives almost mirrored each other once the he got his own show. Then again I have always thought that they shared a great deal in common.

I agree, but I do think that Angel would have been a positive and strong shoulder to lean on, much as he was with Faith. He would have helped Buffy find a healthy way for her to get through her depression. My own take on Spuffy in S6 is that Spike intensified Buffy's isolation and self loathing.

As I've said many times, I don't actually see Buffy and Angel ending up together with a "Happily Ever After" wrapped in a nice bow for them. My POV has always been that they have been and continue to be an integral part of each other's lives. That did not end when he moved to LA. Their bond remains, and that bond is what I want treated with the respect that I think it is due.

To me Buffy and Angel are a part of each other, what they have goes that deep. You couldn't sever that even if you tried.

Lol, well, while I do believe that their personalities were extremely different, they did have similar priorities. 🙂

Hm, I'm still not sure... I mean, is there really any way to overcome depression? Well, I mean, obviously there is, but Buffy was psychologically scarred, I doubt that anybody, love aside, could have helped her "overcome" it. 🙂 He could have helped her by being an unassuming and comforting listener, but Buffy had to get through it by herself, imo. (And by now everybody knows my opinion of S6, so I won't go over it again. 🙂 )

Well, to each their own. 🙂 Romance is just killing me right now though, lol. I simply can't stand it. Spuffy, Bangel, Briley, it's all too fluffy. :tongue3: Or maybe I'm just having a 'shipper meltdown episode. :biggrin3: Gah, I'm surrounded!! *Flees out of thread while brandishing a large stick to whack romance with*

Huh. Raise your hand if you think that Wishing Oceans has officially gone nuts. :tongue3: (By the way folks, that was rhetorical... 😉 )

Kean agrees: My stance on S6 is clear too, I won't bring it into this thread, it's not the place. But having personal experience with depression there is DEFINITELY ways to approach it that make it worse and ways that make it better. For me, Spike was the former.

I do think that after Smashed he started making it worse, whether he entirely meant to or not. But, I also believe that he wasn't the only one. If her "friends" were a bit more supportive and comforting to her, or if they hadn't been selfish in the first place, Buffy would have been much better off. I don't like Spike, but he wasn't the only one at blame here, everyone was at their own lows in their own little worlds this season. 😀 Still, I think it turned out for the better... (Although I always miss the earlier seasons. 🙁 )

Graduation Day part 2 after Giles has given Buffy her diploma. Buffy is standing there when she becomes aware that someone is looking at her and looks up and there is Angel. They exchange a long look and then Angel turns and walks away into the smoke. I always wish that Angel would change him mind and stay.

As one part of me wishes and Angel changed his mind and stayed with her, the other part of me is glad he left. I'm glad they experienced some great things in their life, and if they find they way to each other, we'll know theirs love is real 😀

We've gone over the limit guys, so I'm going to close this one and get a new open 🙂
