You guys all know that I only said that to lure the Bangels into a false sense of security, right? Then Adopt-A-Bangel is gonna move in and go to work in earnest. Pretty soon, all the Bangels are gonna be dyed in the wool Spuffies, and all will be right with the world.

I'm swearing you all to secrecy, now, don't breathe a word to the Bangels, especially Miss K. She's the hardest core Bangel on the Boards. We Spuffies sometimes refer to her as the Uber-Bangel.

Spuffies, spuffies... I know first-hand how convincing Kean is, but we mustn't be lured to the opposing side... Even if they do have delicious home-made brownies...

Just remember the quintessential spuffy moments. 😉 Spuffy is kind of like fire and ice. Bangel is more like ice and water. 😛

Sad to say, I've never had someone try and lure me to the Bangel side of things--I'm fighting my own inner-battle some of the time. I can sit here and argue Spuffy's case until the cows come home but read into my posts and I slot some Bangel things in there. I can deal with Bangel, I don't hate it but I prefer Spuffy and believe in Spuffy's love overall because they've been through so much more. They were a rollarcoaster of feeings that by the end of Season Seven survived all odds--not matter if that's when Spike died.

I haven't read the comics so I'm not saying anything about them. 😀

I think that that pretty much sums up the Spuffy philosophy, at least my version of it. I've never tried to convince anybody that Buffy never loved Angel or that she would ever stop loving him. My belief is simply that she also loves Spike, and that they have as good a chance for a positive, long lasting, loving relationship as Buffy ever had with Angel.

I know some people who love both Bangel and Spuffy, so it's not a bad thing. 🙂 You know I'm a die-hard Spuffie 😀 But, I appreciate Bangel, more so in s1 and s2, for what they were and how their relationship helped both Buffy and Angel grow.

I think that sounds like my Spuffy philosophy too, except I don't see Buffy having a lasting relationship with Angel (but that could be my Spuffy heart talking there, lol). Yet, that doesn't mean I don't think she stopped loving Angel. I'll always believe some part of her will because he was her first love. It's just different with Spike (and better as my Spuffy heart says 😉 )

Here's my view. Bangel upsets me a lot mainly because I don't think their relationship was ever as healthy and great as many people make them out to be. Other than that though, I don't mind Bangel much. I look at Bangel as a stepping stone for both characters to get on their respective journeys. If Bangel never happened, Spuffy wouldn't have either.

I'm not sure that that is necessarily true. Certainly I think that we can all pretty much agree that Buffy wouldn't be the sort of person to live any sort of celibate life for very long. We've seen that illustrated perfectly with Satsu in Season 8. My point is, Buffy would have had a relationship with someone in high school, whether Angel was there or not. Buffy's relationship with Spike began with them being enemies and progressing through slow stages from enemy to informant, to barely trusted ally, to trusted ally, to confidante and trusted ally, to lover, to trusted friend, ally, and someone who she could love. I seriously doubt that not having a relationship with Angel would have changed any of that significantly, unless it actually made a relationship with Spike somewhat easier, since the vampire with a soul/vampire without a soul issue would never have been a factor.

I think her relationship in high school being Angel and not a normal guy means a lot for her character and where she went after that. If she had been able to have a relationship with a normal guy... someone like Xander with no powers... I don't think she would have been as open to having a relationship with someone WITH powers of some sort. Actually, if that had happened and they broke up... I think she and Riley could have worked. I think Bangel put her on the path she took...
